Multifaceted applications of biochar in environmental management:a bibliometric profile

Biochar is a carbon-containing material prepared through thermal treatment of biomass in limited supply of oxygen,and used for an array of applications including waste management,climate change mitigation,soil fertility improvement,bio-energy production,and contaminant *** data related to biochar,its production,and the wide applicability were collected using Web of Science Core Collection Database(on 25/10/2022),while bibliometric network analysis was performed using VOSviewer software to analyse year-wise,author-wise,country-wise,and journal-wise publication trends,construct keyword co-occurrence maps,and identify research areas receiving greater ***,the applications of biochar were reviewed and mechanistic insights were *** of the findings include:>50%of documents(>13,000)getting published in the past 3 years,>90%of documents(>21,000)being research articles,~50%of publications(>10,000)being related to environmental sciences,pyrolysis being the most widely used(~40%articles)production technique(followed by carbonization,gasification,combustion,and torrefaction),China being the most active country in terms of publications(>11,000),and biochar being mostly used for removing contaminants(followed by soil improvement,waste management,energy production,and climate change mitigation).Various strengths,weaknesses,opportunities,and threats(SWOT analysis)of biochar production and wide-ranging applicability were ***,gaps were identified including the need for performing elaborate life cycle assessments,exploring machine learning and artificial intelligence for upgrading conversion technology and producing application-specific biochar,and investigating mechanistic aspects of soil-biochar interactions and nanoscale transformation of *** study covers a broad spectrum of biochar applicability to identify areas receiving lesser attention,which could guide the future researchers for augmenting biochar research.

Salinity and acidity have affected several hundred million hectares of land throughout the globe which poses a major threat to global food security and *** of organic amendments for salt-affected soils has been identified as one of the most effective ways to mitigate salinity-induced problems and considered as a green technique offering twin benefits of waste load reduction and land ***,studies on reclaiming acidic-salt affected soils are ***,this study aimed to determine the reclamation potential of biochars and organic amendments involving Gliricidia sepium biochar produced at 300℃,500℃,and 700℃,green waste compost,and municipal sewage sludge at three different amend-ment ratios,1.0%,2.5%and 5.0%.The incubation experiment was conducted for a 4-month period with different amendment ratios applied to the coastal acidic-salt affected *** were extracted from incubation pots after 1 and 4 months and analyzed for soil chemical parameters(pH,EC,NO_(3)^(−),PO_(4)^(3−,total organic carbon,cation exchange capacity,sodium adsorption ratio,exchangeable sodium percentage)and microbial enzyme activity(catalase activity,and acid-and alkaline phosphatase activity).All organic amendments demonstrated enhancement of the soil properties in a significant ***,increasing incubation time and amendment ratio increase the changes of soil parameters by a great ***,the maximum amendment ratio of 5.0%and 4 months of incubation period rendered a significant improvement in the reclamation of acidic-salt affected ***,the biochar produced at 500℃ contributed the maximum towards the improved physicochemical and biochemical profile of acidic-salt affected soil,making it the most promising organic amend-ment for the reclamation of acidic-salt affected *** overall reclamation efficiency of organic amendments registered the following order of variation:700 BC

Investigation of proton structure function F_(2)^(p)at HERA in light of an analytical solution to the Balitsky–Kovchegov equation

In this paper,the proton structure function F_(2)^(p)(x,Q^(2))at small-x is investigated using an analytical solution to the Balitsky–Kovchegov(BK)*** the context of the color dipole description of deep inelastic scattering(DIS),the structure function F_(2)^(p)(x,Q^(2))is computed by applying the analytical expression for the scattering amplitude N(k,Y)derived from the BK *** transverse momentum k and total rapidity Y,the scattering amplitude N(k,Y)represents the propagation of the quark-antiquark dipole in the color dipole description of *** the BK solution we extracted the integrated gluon density xg(x,Q^(2))and then compared our theoretical estimation with the LHAPDF global data fits,NNPDF3.1sx and ***,we have investigated the behavior of F_(2)^(p)(x,Q^(2))in the kinematic region of 10^(-5)≤x≤10^(-2)and 2.5 GeV^(2)≤Q^(2)≤60 GeV^(2).Our predicted results for F_(2)^(p)(x,Q^(2))within the specified kinematic region are in good agreement with the recent high-precision data for F_(2)^(p)(x,Q^(2))from HERA(H1 Collaboration)and the LHAPDF global parametrization group NNPDF3.1sx.

Soft-sediment deformation structures in the Mesoproterozoic Kaimur Sandstone,Vindhyan Supergroup(Central India),and their seismotectonic implications

The unequivocal identification of soft-sediment deformation structures(SSDS)is a significant attribute to constrain the effect of transient geological events in the spatio-temporal evolution of ancient sedimentary *** paper reports and discusses,for the first time,the occurrence of several cm-to dm-scale SSDS within sandstone successions of the Mesoproterozoic Kaimur Group(Vindhyan Supergroup),exposed at the Hanumandhara Hill of Chitrakoot-Satna border region,Madhya Pradesh State,*** SSDS are confined to a deformed interval comprising seven individual sedimentary units of variable composition and texture,which are sandwiched between nearly horizontally undeformed sandstone *** SSDS consist of load structures(load casts,flame structures,pseudonodules and ball-and-pillow structures),contorted lamination,convolute lamination,boudins and pinch-and-swell structures,deformed cross-stratification,slump structures,clastic injections,fluid escape structures,and syn-sedimentary fractures/*** pre-sent study suggests that the formation of these SSDS is essentially related to a combination of processes(gravitational instability,liquefaction,fluidization,and fluid escape)predominantly induced by seismic *** addition,the restricted occurrence of fractures/faults in these deformed layers emphasizes the passage of seismically-induced Rayleigh *** the observed types of SSDS,their lateral homo-geneity and geographic distribution along with the geodynamic framework of the Vindhyan Basin,the whole area can be tentatively attributed to having experienced moderate-to high-magnitude(M≥5)*** present study combined with earlier reports of seismically-induced SSDS,from other regionally disposed formations belonging to the Lower(e.g.,Kajrahat Limestone,Chopan Porcellanite,Koldaha Shale,Rohtas Limestone,and Glauconitic Sandstone of the Semri Group)and Upper(e.g.,Bhander Limestone of the Bhander Group)Vindhyan Supergroup,respectively,provi

Small x phenomenology on gluon evolution through the BFKL equation in light of a constraint in multi-Regge kinematics

We investigate the impact of so-called kinematic constraint on gluon evolution at small *** the constraint on the real emission term of the gluon ladder diagram,we obtain an integro-differential form of the Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov(BFKL)*** we solve the equation analytically using the method of *** sketch the Bjorken x and transverse momentum kt2 dependence of our solution of unintegrated gluon distributions f(x,kt2)in the kinematic constraint supplemented BFKL equation and contrasted the same with the original BFKL *** we extract the integrated gluon density xg(x,Q2)from unintegrated gluon distributions f(x,kt2)and compared our theoretical prediction with that of global data fits,namely NNPDF3.1 sx and *** we illustrate the phenomenological implication of our solution for unintegrated gluon distribution f(x,kT2)towards exploring high precision HERA DIS data by the theoretical prediction of proton structure functions(F2 and FL).

Phytochemical Profiling and Bioactivity of A Mangrove Plant,Sonneratia apetala,from Odisha Coast of India

Objective： To test the antioxidant, antidiabetic, anticancer and antibacterial activities along with phytochemicals of Sonneratia apetala Buch.-Ham. Methods： The antibacterial activity was determined by agar well diffusion method. The antioxidant activity was determined by standard assay. The antidiabetic activity was evaluated by α-glucosidase inhibition assay and in vivo anticancer property was determined against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma （EAC） cells in Swiss Albino mice. Further partial characterization of the methanol extracts was carried out by thin layer chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and Fourier transform-infra red spectrum spectral analysis. Results： Four solvent extracts （acetone, ethanol, methanol and aqueous） of leaf and bark possess strong antioxidant properties. In vivo anticancer activity of methanol extract leaf indicated positive activity showing 34% inhibition against EAC cells in Swiss Albino mice. All extracts exhibited a-glucosidase inhibitory activity in a dose-dependent manner indicating presence of promising antidiabetic properties. The extracts possess strong antibacterial activity against the selected pathogenic bacteria （minimal inhibitory concentration ranging from 1.25-5.00 mg/mL）. The partial characterization of the methanol extracts of leaf and bark revealed the presence of phenolics as the lead compound responsible for studied bioactivities of the plant extracts. Conclusion： Sonneratia apetala extracts have potent antibacterial, antioxidant, antidiabetic and anticancer properties which can be further exploited for its pharmaceutical applications.

Mangroves are salt-tolerant forest ecosystem that extends between tropical and subtropicalintertidal regions of the world. Mangroves are biochemically unique vegetation that produce wide array of naturalproducts with immense medicinal potential. These plants are the most valuable resources and provide economicand ecological benefits to the coastal people. Natural products from these plants are of great interest as theyprovide innumerable direct and indirect benefits to human beings for the discovery of novel antimicrobial andother bioactive compounds. They possess active metabolites with some novel chemical structures that belong todiverse chemical classes such as alkaloids, phenol, steroids, terpenoids and tannins. Several mangrove specieshave been used in traditional medicine or have few applications as insecticide and pesticide. To date, severalmangroves, and their associated species and solvent extracts are screened for antimicrobial activity along withthe presence of potent bioactive compounds. The present article emphasizes and creates awareness aboutthe potential mangrove plants and their associates as a source of biologically active compounds with potentantimicrobial properties. This paper also elaborates the mechanisms of action and various methods for screeningof antimicrobial compounds.

An EOQ model with backordering for perishable items under multiple advanced and delayed payments policies

This study investigated an economic order quantity (EOQ) model with completebackorder for fixed lifetime perishable items under multiple advance and delayedpayments policies. Here, a new type of business policy is consideredwhere supplieroffers the retailer to pay a fraction of the purchasing cost before the order deliverybymultiple equal installments starting from the ordering time and the rest amountafter the delivery by multiple equal installments. Here, some theoretical results areillustrated to determine the conditions of existence and uniqueness of the optimalsolutions. A closed form solution is determined to solve the proposed model underapproximation. Some numerical examples are provided to examine the validity ofthe proposed model. Finally, sensitivity analyses are presented to obtain the effectof optimal policy and provide some managerial insights of the model.
