Sulfonylurea receptor(SUR) belongs to the adenosine 5′-triphosphate(ATp)-binding cassette(ABC) transporter family;however,SUR is associated with ion channels and acts as a regulatory subunit determining the opening or closing of the ***8 and Abcc9 genes code for the proteins SUR1 and SUR2,*** SUR1 transcript encodes a protein of 1582 amino acids with a mass around 140–177 k Da expressed in the pancreas,brain,heart,and other *** is well known that SUR1 assembles with Kir6.2 and TRpM4 to establish K_(ATp) channels and non-selective cation channels,***8 and 9 are alternatively spliced,and the resulting transcripts encode different isoforms of SUR1 and SUR2,which have been detected by different experimental ***,the use of binding assays to sulfonylureas and Western blotting has allowed the detection of shorter forms of SUR(-65 k Da).Identity of the SUR1 variants has not been clarified,and some authors have suggested that the shorter forms are ***,immunoprecipitation assays have shown that SUR2 short forms are part of a functional channel even coexisting with the typical forms of the receptor in the *** evidence confirms that the structure of the short forms of the SURs is fully functional and does not lose the ability to interact with the *** structural changes in short forms of SUR modify its affinity to ATp,regulation of its expression might represent an advantage in pathologies where ATp concentrations decrease and a therapeutic target to induce ***,the expression of SUR1 variants might be induced by conditions associated to the decrease of energetic substrates in the brain(*** stroke and epilepsy).In this review,we want to contribute to the knowledge of SUR1 complexity by analyzing evidence that shows the existence of short SUR1 variants and its possible implications in brain function.

Halogen chemistry constitutes an essential part in the industrial production of polymers and gains increasing attention as an attractive strategy to activate light alkanes that constitute natural gas. CeO2-based catalysts offer an exciting potential for advances in hydrogen halide recovery that enables a high efficiency of halogen-based processes for activation of small molecules. This review provides an overview of recently developed ceria-based catalysts in the context of polymer industry(polyvinyl chloride, polyurethanes, and polycarbonates) and activation of light hydrocarbons for natural gas upgrading. In addition, mechanistic insight and the challenges of ceria catalysts are provided, aiding the design of future catalytic materials and applications.

Carbon nitrides integrating macroheterocycles offer unique potential as hosts for stabilizing metal atoms due to their rich electronic structure. To date, only graphitic heptazine-based polymers have been ***, we demonstrate that palladium atoms can be effectively isolated on other carbon nitride scaffolds including linear melem oligomers and poly(triazine/heptazine imides). Increased metal uptake was linked to the larger cavity size and the presence of chloride ions in the polyimide structures. Changing the host structure leads to significant variation in the average oxidation state of the metal, which can be tuned by exchange of the ionic species as evidenced by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and supported by density functional theory. Evaluation in the semi-hydrogenation of 2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol reveals an inverse correlation between the activity and the degree of oxidation of palladium, with oligomers exhibiting the highest activity. These findings provide new mechanistic insights into the influence of the carbon nitride structure on metal stabilization.

Long-term outcomes after stenting as a"bridge to surgery"for the management of acute obstruction secondary tocolorectal cancer

Obstructive symptoms are present in 8% of cases at the time of initial diagnosis in cases of colorectal cancer. Emergency surgery has been classically considered the treatment of choice in these patients. However, in the majority of studies, emergency colorectal surgery is burdened with higher morbidity and mortality rates than elective surgery, and many patients require temporal colostomy which deteriorates their quality of life and becomes permanent in 10%-40% of cases. The aim of stenting by-pass to surgery is to transform emergency surgery into elective surgery in order to improve surgical results, obtain an accurate tumoral staging and detection of synchronous lesions, stabilization of comorbidities and performance of laparoscopic surgery. Immediate results were more favourable in patients who were stented concerning primary anastomosis, permanent stoma, wound infection and overall morbidity, having the higher surgical risk patients the greater benefit. However, some findings laid out the possible implication of stenting in long-term results of oncologic treatment. perforation after stenting is related to tumoral recurrence. In studies with perforation rates above 8%, higher recurrences rates in young patients and lower disease free survival have been shown. On the other hand, after stenting the number of removed lymph nodes in the surgical specimen is larger, patients can receive adjuvant chemotherapy earlier and in a greater percentage and the number of patients who can be surgically treated with laparoscopic surgery is larger. Finally, there are no consistent studies able to demonstrate that one strategy is superior to the other in terms of oncologic benefits. At present, it would seem wise to assume a higher initial complication rate in young patients without relevant comorbidities and to accept the risk of local recurrence in old patients(> 70 years) or with high surgical risk(ASA Ⅲ/Ⅳ).

In this work, we study potential fluids, within which eddies exist and have quantum mechanical properties because according to Helmholtz, they are made up of an integer number of lines and their displacement in a potential medium is a function of a frequency. However, this system is Lorentz-invariant since Maxwell’s equations can be obtained from it, and this is what we demonstrate here. The considered hypothesis is that the electric charge arises naturally as the intensity of the eddy in the potential fluid, that is, the circulation of the velocity vector of the elements that constitute it, along that potential (it is not another parameter, whose experimental value must be added, as proposed by the standard model of elementary particles). Hence, the electric field appears as the rotational of the velocity field, at each point of the potential medium, and the magnetic field appears as the variation with respect to the velocity field of the potential medium, which is equivalent to the Biot and Savart law. From these considerations, Maxwell’s equations are reached, in particular his second equation which is the non-existence of magnetic monopoles, and the fourth equation which is Ampere’s law, both of which to date are obtained empirically demonstrated theoretically. The electromagnetic field propagation equation also arrives, thus this can be considered a demonstration that a potential medium in which eddies exists constitutes a Lorentz-invariant with quantum mechanical properties.

BACKGROUND Sutures have been used to repair wounds since ancient ***,the basic suture technique has not significantly *** phase I of our project,we proposed a“double diabolo”suture design,using a theoretical physical study to show that this suture receives 50%less tension than conventional sutures,and so a correspondingly greater force must be applied to break *** To determine whether these theoretical levels of resistance were met by the new type of *** An observational study was performed to compare three types of sutures,using a device that exerted force on the suture until the breaking point was *** tension produced by this traction was *** following variables were considered:Tearing stress on entry/exit points,edge separation stress,and suture break *** study sample consisted of 30 sutures with simple interrupted stitches(Group 1),30 with continuous stitches(Group 2),and 30 with the“double diabolo”design(Group 3).RESULTS The mean degree of force required to reach the breaking point for each of these variables(tearing,separation,and final breaking)was highest in Group 3(14.56,18.28,and 21.39 kg),followed by Group 1(7.36,10.38,and 12.81 kg)and Group 2(5.77,7.7,and 8.71 kg).These differences were statistically significant(pperimental results show that with the“double diabolo”suture,compared with conventional sutures,greater force must be applied to reach the breaking point(almost twice as much as in the simple interrupted suture and more than double that required for the continuous suture).If these results are confirmed in phase III(the clinical phase)of our study,we believe the double diabolo technique should be adopted as the standard approach,especially when the suture must withstand significant tension(e.g.,laparotomy closure,thoracotomy closure,diaphragm suture,or hernial orifice closure).
