Rate of penetration of a Tunnel Boring Machine(TBM) in a rock environment is generally a key parameter for the successful accomplishment of a tunneling *** paper presents the results of a study into the application of an Artificial Neural Network(ANN) technique for modeling the penetration rate of tunnel boring machines.A database,including actual,measured TBM penetration rates,uniaxial compressive strengths of the rock,the distance between planes of weakness in the rock mass and rock quality designation was *** collected from three different TBM projects(the Queens Water Tunnel,USA,the Karaj-Tehran water transfer tunnel,Iran,and the Gilgel Gibe II hydroelectric project,Ethiopia).A five-layer ANN was found to be optimum,with an architecture of three neurons in the input layer,9,7 and 3 neurons in the first,second and third hidden layers,respectively,and one neuron in the output *** correlation coefficient determined for penetration rate predicted by the ANN was 0.94.

In this work,the possibility of separation of Zn^2+and Cd^2+metal ions from chloride(brine)solutions was *** this purpose,simple solvent extraction(SX)experiments by di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid(D2EHPA)in kerosene as a diluent was performed on synthetic and industrial chloride solution obtained from brine leaching of zinc filter cakes(by-product of zinc hydrometallurgical processing).The optimal conditions for separation were *** zinc extraction efficiency was 99%with negligible co-extraction of ***,a highΔpH0.5 value for Zn(Ⅱ)and Cd(Ⅱ)was ***-IR and slope analysis indicated that ZnClA·3HA and CdClA·3HA species were probably extracted.

Achalasia is a primary motor disorder of the eso-phagus, in which esophageal emptying is impaired. Diagnosis of achalasia is based on clinical fi ndings. The diagnosis is confirmed by radiographic, endoscopic, and manometric evaluations. Several treatments for achalasia have been introduced. We searched the PubMed Database for original articles and meta-analyses about achalasia to summarize the current knowledge regarding this disease, with particular focus on different procedures that are used for treatment of achalasia. We also report the Iranian experience of treatment of this disease, since it could be considered as a model for medium-resource countries. Myotomy, particularly laparoscopic myotomy with fundoplication, is the most effective treatment for achalasia. Compared to other treatments, however, the initial cost of myotomy is usually higher and the recovery period is longer. When performing myotomy is not indicated or not possible, graded pneumatic dilation with slow rate of balloon inflation seems to be an effective and safe initial alternative. Injection of botulinum toxin into the lower esophageal sphincter before pneumatic dilation may increase remission rates. However, this needs to be conf irmed in further studies. Due to lack of adequate information regarding the role of expandable stents in the treatment of achalasia, insertion of stents does not currently seem to be a recommended treatment. In summary, laparoscopic myotomy can be considered as the procedure of choice for treatment of achalasia. Graded pneumatic dilation is an effective alternative when the performance of myotomy is not possible for any reason.

A simple and green method has been developed for the synthesis of 2-aminocyclohex-l-ene-l- carboxylic esters through a one-pot three-component condensation reaction of primary amines, ethyl acetoacetate and chalcones using FeCI3/SiO2 nanoparticles in ethanol. This method has several advantages such as high to excellent product yields in short time, using an inexpensive and reusable catalyst and available starting material.

This study assesses the effects of vegetation natural tree and shrub regeneration in semi-arid forests patterns and environmental factors on the abundance of of the Zagros Mountains, western Iran. We sampled 120 releves at different topographic positions in a protected area of the studied region. Floristic composition, slope, elevation and soil properties were recorded at each releve, and woody seedling density was measured. We have first discerned five floristic groups using two-way indicator species analysis （TWINSPAN）, detrended correspondence analysis （DCA）, and canonical correspondence analysis （CCA） and then explored the relationships among the floristic group compositions, environmental factors and seedling densities. The indicator species of the five groups were Quercus brangi, Acer monspessulanum, Cerasus microcarpa, Rhamnus arvensis and Astragalus licyoides. Our results indicated that these groups were significantly affected by elevation and soil properties and the soil properties refer to： EC （electrical conductivity）, N （nitrogen）, K （potassium）, OM （organic matter）, and bulk density. Woody regeneration was composed of Q. brangi, A. monqJessulanum, C microcarpa, Amygdalus scopada and Crataeguspongca seedlings. The highest density of seedlings was found for Q. brantii （97.14 （_＋48.00） plants/hm2） and the lowest for A. scoparia （2.28 （＋1.50） plants/hm2）. Quercus brantii was the dominant species and the seedling density was positively correlated with soil pH and P （phosphorus） values. Amygdalus scoparia regeneration was negatively correlated with elevation, and the seedling density peaked in C. microcarpa group. There was no significant variation in distribution of C. pongca seedlings among the groups, but the seedling density of this species was positively correlated with slope and K. Cerasus microcarpa seedlings were more abundant in the Q. brantii group than in other groups. This study showed that the regeneration of tree and shrub species was unequally

Portfolio selection is one of the major capital allocation and budgeting issues in financial management, and a variety of models have been presented for optimal selection. Semi-variance is usually considered as a risk factor in drawing up an efficient frontier and the optimal portfolio. Since semi-variance offers a better estimation of the actual risk portfolio, it was used as a measure to approximate the risk of investment in this work. The optimal portfolio selection is one of the non-deterministic polynomial(NP)-hard problems that have not been presented in an exact algorithm, which can solve this problem in a polynomial time. Meta-heuristic algorithms are usually used to solve such problems. A novel hybrid harmony search and artificial bee colony algorithm and its application were introduced in order to draw efficient frontier portfolios. Computational results show that this algorithm is more successful than the harmony search method and genetic algorithm. In addition, it is more accurate in finding optimal solutions at all levels of risk and return.

The photocatalytic degradation of reactive blue 19(RB19)dye was investigated in a slurry system using ultraviolet(UV)and light-emitting diode(LED)lamps as light sources and using magnetic tungsten trioxide nanophotocatalysts(α-Fe_(2)O_(3)/WO_(3)and WO_(3)/NaOH)as *** effects of different parameters including irradiation time,initial concentration of RB19,nanophotocatalyst dosage,and pH were *** magnetic nanophotocatalysts were also characterized with different methods including scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),photoluminescence(PL),differen-tial reflectance spectroscopy(DRS),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),and vibrating sample magnetometry(VSM).The XRD and FTIR analyses confirmed the presence of tungsten trioxide on the iron oxide *** VSM analysis confirmed the magnetic ability of the new synthesized nanophotocatalyst α-Fe_(2)O_(3)/WO_(3)with 39.6 emu/g of saturation *** reactor performance showed consid-erable improvement in the α-Fe_(2)O_(3)-modified *** impact of visible light was specifically investigated,and it was compared with UV-C light under the same experimental *** reusability of the magnetic nanophotocatalyst α-Fe_(2)O_(3)/WO_(3)was tested during six cycles,and the magnetic materials showed an excellent removal efficiency after six cycles,with just a 7%decline.
