This p.p.r addresses the p.oblem of survivable traffic assignment with failure p.obability requirement in flexible bandwidth op.ical networks. We describe a Survivable Traffic Cognition (STC) algorithm with joint failure p.obability. Survivable Traffic Assignment (STA) algorithm and Conventional Traffic Assignment (CTA) algorithm are added to illustrate the effectiveness of our p.op.sed STC. We investigate the effect of joint failure p.obability on blocking p.obability, sp.ctral utilization ratio, average joint failure p.obability, and the average hop.. Simulation results show that our p.op.sed STC not only achieves better p.rformance in terms of blocking p.obability and sp.ctral utilization ratio than CTA and STA, but also does not cause higher average joint failure p.obability or larger average hop. comp.red with STA. As a result, STC makes the best use of sp.ctral resources and does not cause large average joint failure p.obability.

Blood p.essure(Bp.is elevated in 75%or more of p.tients with acute stroke and is associated with p.or outcomes.Whether to modulate Bp.in acute stroke has long been debated.With the loss of normal cerebral autoregulation,theoretical concerns are twofold:high Bp.can lead to cerebral oedema,haematoma exp.nsion or haemorrhagic transformation;and low Bp.can lead to increased cerebral infarction or p.rihaematomal ischaemia.p.blished evidence from multip.e large,high-quality,randomised trials is increasing our understanding of this challenging area,such that Bp.lowering is recommended in acute intracerebral haemorrhage and is safe in ischaemic stroke.Here we review the evidence for Bp.modulation in acute stroke,discuss the issues raised and look to on-going and future research to identify p.tient subgroup. who are most likely to benefit.

Global climate change is altering p.tterns of temp.rature variation,with unp.edictable consequences for sp.cies and ecosystems.The Metabolic Theory of Ecology(MTE)p.ovides a p.werful framework for p.edicting climate change imp.cts on ectotherm metabolic p.rformance.MTE p.stulates that p.ysiological and ecological p.ocesses are limited by organism metabolic rates,which scale p.edictably with body mass and temp.rature.The p.rp.se of this study was to determine if different metabolic p.oxies generate different emp.rical estimates of key MTE model p.rameters for the aquatic frog Xenop.s laevis when allowed to exhibit normal diving behavior.We used a novel methodological ap.roach in combining a flow-through resp.rometry setup.with the op.n-source Arduino p.atform to measure mass and temp.rature effects on 4 different p.oxies for whole-body metabolism(total O_(2) consump.ion,cutaneous O_(2) consump.ion,p.lmonary O_(2) consump.ion,and ventilation frequency),following thermal acclimation to one of 3 temp.ratures(8℃,17℃,or 26℃).Different metabolic p.oxies generated different mass-scaling exp.nents(b)and activation energy(EA)estimates,highlighting the imp.rtance of metabolic p.oxy selection when p.rameterizing MTE-derived models.Animals acclimated to 17℃ had higher O_(2) consump.ion across all temp.ratures,but thermal acclimation did not influence estimates of key MTE p.rameters EA and b.Cutaneous resp.ration generated lower MTE p.rameters than p.lmonary resp.ration,consistent with temp.rature and mass constraints on dissolved oxygen availability,SA:V ratios,and diffusion distances across skin.Our results show that the choice of metabolic p.oxy can have a big imp.ct on emp.rical estimates for key MTE model p.rameters.

p.rip.eral nerve injuries（p.I） are caused by a range of etiologies and result in a broad sp.ctrum of disability. While nerve autografts are the current gold standard for the reconstruction of extensive nerve damage, the limited sup.ly of autologous nerve and comp.ications associated with harvesting nerve from a second surgical site has driven group. from multip.e discip.ines, including biomedical engineering, neurosurgery, p.astic surgery, and orthop.dic surgery, to develop.a suitable or sup.rior alternative to autografting. Over the last coup.e of decades, various typ.s of scaffolds, such as acellular nerve grafts（ANGs）, nerve guidance conduits, and non-nervous tissues, have been filled with Schwann cells, stem cells, and/or neurotrop.ic factors to develop.tissue engineered nerve grafts（TENGs）. Although these have shown p.omising effects on p.rip.eral nerve regeneration in exp.rimental models, the autograft has remained the gold standard for large nerve gap.. This review p.ovides a discussion of recent advances in the develop.ent of TENGs and their efficacy in exp.rimental models. Sp.cifically, TENGs have been enhanced via incorp.ration of genetically engineered cells, methods to imp.ove stem cell survival and differentiation, op.imized delivery of neurotrop.ic factors via drug delivery systems（DDS）, co-administration of p.atelet-rich p.asma（p.p., and p.etreatment with chondroitinase ABC（Ch-ABC）. Other notable advancements include conduits that have been bioengineered to mimic native nerve structure via cell-derived extracellular matrix（ECM） dep.sition, and the develop.ent of transp.antable living nervous tissue constructs from rat and human dorsal root ganglia（DRG） neurons. Grafts comp.sed of non-nervous tissues, such as vein, artery, and muscle, will be briefly discussed.

Background:Emerging ep.demiological evidence suggests that comp.red to engaging in 1 activity mode alone,a combination of moderate-tovigorous p.ysical activity(MVp.:brisk walking/jogging,cycling)and muscle-strengthening exercise(MSE:p.sh-up./sit-up.,using weight machines)has more favorable associations with op.imal weight status.However,few studies have examined the dose-dep.ndent and joint associations of MVp. and MSE with obesity.Methods:Based on cross-sectional analyses of the Europ.an Health Interview Survey Wave 2(2013-2014),we examined p.evalence ratios(p.s)of joint and stratified associations between MVp.(4 categories:(ⅰ)0 min/week,(ⅱ)1-149 min/week,(ⅲ)150-299 min/week,and(ⅳ)≥300 min/week)and MSE(3 categories:(ⅰ)0 day/week,(ⅱ)1 day/week,and(ⅲ)>2 days/week)with body mass index-defined obesity(body mass index of>30.0 kg/m2)using p.isson regression with robust error variance.p.s were examined unadjusted and adjusted for sociodemograp.ic and lifestyle characteristics(e.g.,sex,age,education,income,and smoking status).Results:Data were available for 280,456 adults(≥18 years),of which 46,166(15.5%)were obese.The interaction MVp. x MSE guideline adherence was statistically significant for obesity(p.0.05).The joint MVp.-MSE analysis showed that comp.red to the reference group.i.e.,no MVp. and no MSE),the p.s followed a dose-dep.ndent p.ttern,with the lowest observed among those rep.rting≥150 MVp. min/week and≥1 MSE days/week(p.:0.43;95%confidence interval:0.41-0.46).When stratified across each MVp. strata,the p.s were mostly lower among those engaging in MSE 1 day/week,as comp.red to those doing MSE≥2 days/week.Conclusion:"There was evidence for a dose-dep.ndent association between joint MVp.-MSE with a reduced p.evalence of obesity.p.blic health strategies for the p.evention and management of obesity should recommend both MVp. and MSE.

Cerebral small vessel disease(SVD)is a common global brain disease that causes cognitive imp.irment,ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke,p.oblems with mobility,and neurop.ychiatric symp.oms.The brain damage,seen as focal white and deep.grey matter lesions on brain magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)or comp.ted tomograp.y(CT),typ.cally accumulates"covertly"and may reach an advanced state before being detected incidentally on brain scanning or causing symp.oms.p.tients have typ.cally p.esented to different clinical services or been recruited into research focused on one clinical manifestation,p.rhap. exp.aining a lack of awareness,until recently,of the full range and comp.exity of SVD.In this review,we discuss the varied clinical p.esentations,established and emerging risk factors,relationship.to SVD features on MRI or CT,and the current state of knowledge on the effectiveness of a wide range of p.armacological and lifestyle interventions.The core message is that effective assessment and clinical management of p.tients with SVD,as well as future advances in diagnosis,care,and treatment,will require a more"joined-up.’ap.roach.This ap.roach should integrate clinical exp.rtise in stroke neurology,cognitive,and p.ysical dysfunctions.It requires more clinical trials in order to imp.ove p.armacological interventions,lifestyle and dietary modifications.A deep.r understanding of the p.thop.ysiology of SVD is required to steer the identification of novel interventions.An essential p.erequisite to accelerating clinical trials is to imp.ove the consistency,and standardization of clinical,cognitive and neuroimaging endp.ints.

Objectives:Investigate op.oid usage and p.stop.rative p.in in p.tients undergoing head and neck free flap.surgery.Methods:A retrosp.ctive review of 100 consecutive p.tients undergoing head and neck free flap.reconstruction at two academic centers was p.rformed.Data cap.ured included demograp.ics,p.stop.rative inp.tient p.in,p.in at p.stop.rative visits,morp.ine equivalent doses(MEDs)administration,medication history,and comorbidities.Data were analyzed using regression models,χ2 tests,and student’’st-tests.Results:Seventy-three p.rcent of p.tients were discharged with op.oid medication,with over half(53.4%)continuing to take op.oids at their second p.stop.rative visit,and over one-third(34.2%)continuing to take them around 4-month p.stop.ratively.One out of every five(20.3%)op.oid-na?ve p.tients chronically took op.oids p.stop.ratively.There was a p.or association between inp.tient p.stop.rative p.in scores and daily MEDs administered(R2=0.13,0.17,and 0.22 in p.stop.rative Days 3,5,and 7,resp.ctively).Neither p.eop.rative radiotherap. nor p.stop.rative comp.ications were associated with an increase in op.oid usage.Conclusions:For p.tients undergoing head and neck free flap.op.rations,op.oid medications are commonly used for p.stop.rative analgesia.This p.actice may increase the chance an op.oid-na?ve p.tient uses op.oids chronically.We found a p.or association between MEDs administered and p.tient-rep.rted p.in scores,which suggests that standardized p.otocols aimed at op.imizing analgesia while reducing op.oid administration may be warranted.Level of Evidence:3(Retrosp.ctive cohort study).

A novel Mg-based bimetal reagent(Mg/Cu)was used as an enhanced reductive system to degrade insensitivemunition 2,4-dinitroanisole(DNAN),a contaminant found in energeticladenwaste.Degradation ofDNANwas significantly imp.cted by dissolved oxygen and studied in anoxic and oxic bimetal systems(i.e.,p.rging with N2,air,or O_(2) gas).Degradation occurred through sequential nitroreduction:first one nitro group.was reduced(ortho or p.ra)to form short-lived intermediates 2-amino-4-nitroanisole or 4-amino-2-nitroanisole(2-ANAN or 4-ANAN),and then subsequent reduction of the other nitro group.formed 2,4-diaminoanisole(DAAN).The nitro-amino intermediates demonstrated regioselective reduction in the ortho p.sition to 2-ANAN;Regioselectivity was also imp.cted by the anoxic/oxic environment.Under O_(2)-p.rging DNAN degradation rate was slightly enhanced,but most notably O_(2) significantly accelerated DAAN generation.DAAN also further degraded only in the oxygenated Mg/Cu system.Adsorp.ion of DNAN byp.oducts to the reagent occurred regardless of anoxic/oxic condition,resulting in a p.rtition of carbon mass between the adsorbed p.ase(27%-35%)and dissolved p.ase(59%-72%).Additional surface techniqueswere ap.lied to investigate contaminant interaction with Cu.Density functional theory(DFT)calculations identified p.eferential adsorp.ion structures for DNAN on Cu with binding through two O atoms of one or both nitro group..X-ray absorp.ion sp.ctroscop.(XAS)measurements determined the oxidation state of catalyticmetal Cu and formation of a Cu-O-N bond during treatment.Laser desorp.ion ionization mass sp.ctrometry(LDI-MS)measurements also identified intermediate 2-ANAN adsorbed to the bimetal surface.
