Clinical characteristics of asymptomatic Terson syndrome in the patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage

●AIM:To investigate clinical characteristics of asymptomatic Terson syndrome and its clinical impact in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage(saH).●METHODS:This retrospective,interventional study included 31 patients with aneurysmal saH,and the medical records were *** addition to baseline characteristics of the study population such as age,sex,and underlying medical history,multi-modal imaging analysis,including fluorescein angiography(FA),spectral domain optical coherence tomography(SD-OCT),were also *** Coma Scale(GCS),Hunt-Hess(HH)grade,and Fisher scale at the time of admission,and functional outcome by using modified Rankin Scale(mRS)at 6 mo were compared.●RESULTS:Of the 31 patients,10 patients(32.3%)were diagnosed with Terson *** the patients with Terson syndrome did not report visual symptoms at the time of ophthalmologic *** showed microvascular changes of retinal capillaries and varying degrees of disc ***-OCT allowed intuitive anatomical localization of multi-layered retinal hemorrhages and assessment of ellipsoid zone *** patients with Terson syndrome showed significantly worse GCS(P=0.047)and HH grade(P=0.025)than those without,except Ficher scale(P=0.385).There was no significant difference in the mRS(P=0.250)at 6 *** baseline factors,the HH grade was the only significant factor associated with Terson syndrome(B=1.079,P=0.016).●CONCLUSION:In our study,32.3%of the patients have Terson syndrome without visual *** baseline HH grade is significantly correlated with Terson syndrome,and there is no significant difference in the functional outcome between the patients with and without Terson *** syndrome may develop without any visual symptoms as shown in our study,and ophthalmologic screening may be recommended to prevent further visual deterioration especially in the patients with poor HH grade at the time of aneurysmal saH.

A standard skill assessment （sa） tool was developed and implemented to evaluate the performance of op- erational forecast models in the korea operational oceanographic system. The sa tool provided a robust way to assess model skill in the system by comparing predictions and observations, and involved the com- putation of multiple skill metrics including correlation and error skills. User- and system-based acceptance criteria of skill metrics were applied to determine whether predictions were acceptable for the system. To achieve this, the tool produced a time series comparison plot, a skill score table, and an advanced sum- marized diagram to effectively demonstrate the multiple skill scores. Moreover, the sa was conducted to evaluate both atmospheric and hydrodynamic forecast variables. For the atmospheric variables, acceptable error criteria were preferable to acceptable correlation criteria over short timescales, since the mean square error overwhelmed the observation variance. Conversely, for the hydrodynamic variables, acceptable root mean square percentage error （e.g., perms） criteria were preferable to acceptable error （e.g., erms） criteria owing to the spatially variable tidal intensity around the korean Peninsula. Furthermore, the sa indicated that predetermined acceptance error criteria were appropriate to satisfy a target central frequency （fc） for which errors fell within the specified limits （i.e., the .fc equals 70%）.

Objective:To investigate the anti-senescence effect of 3-bromo-4,5-dihydroxybenzaldehyde(BDB)from Polysiphonia morrowii Harvey in human dermal fibroblasts(HDF).Methods:HDF were subjected to treatment of BDB and then treated with hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)to induce premature ***-associatedβ-galactosidase(sa-β-gal)activity in HDF was determined using the sa-β-gal staining *** reactive oxygen species(ROS)production was measured using the 2’,7’-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate *** blotting assay was performed to assess the level of antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase 1(GPX1).In addition,intracellular collagen and collagenase contents were analyzed using the respective ELIsa *** activity in HDF supernatants was measured from p-nitroaniline release and normalized using total protein ***:Treatment of HDF with H2O2 increased the activity of sa-β-gal,but BDB pre-treatment resulted in the reduction of sa-β-gal ***,BDB significantly reduced H2O2-induced intracellular ROS *** also markedly increased the level of GPX1,which was inhibited by 400μM of ***,in in vitro study,BDB significantly increased intracellular collagen content and decreased matrix metalloproteinase-1 and elastase activities in ***:Our results demonstrate that BDB shows antisenescence and anti-wrinkle activities in vitro.

BACkGROUND Genomic profiling of tumors has contributed to the understanding of colorectal cancer(CRC), facilitating diagnosis, prognosis and selection of treatments,including targeted regimens. Functionalising surfaces using polymeric thin films is an industrially important field. One technique for achieving nanoscale, controlled surface functionalization is plasma deposition. Plasma deposition has advantages over other surface engineering processes, including that it is solvent free, substrate and geometry independent, and the surface properties of the film can be designed by judicious choice of precursor and plasma conditions. Despite the utility of this method, the mechanisms of plasma polymer growth are generally unknown, and are usually described by chemical （i.e., radical） pathways. In this review, we aim to show that plasma physics drives the chemistry of the plasma phase, and surface-plasma interactions. For example, we show that ionic species can react in the plasma to form larger ions, and also arrive at surfaces with energies greater than 1000 kJ·mol^-1 （〉10 eV） and thus facilitate surface reactions that have not been taken into account previously. Thus, improving thin film deposition processes requires an understanding of both physical and chemical processes in plasma.

Global climate change is altering patterns of temperature variation,with unpredictable consequences for species and *** Metabolic Theory of Ecology(MTE)provides a powerful framework for predicting climate change impacts on ectotherm metabolic *** postulates that physiological and ecological processes are limited by organism metabolic rates,which scale predictably with body mass and *** purpose of this study was to determine if different metabolic proxies generate different empirical estimates of key MTE model parameters for the aquatic frog Xenopus laevis when allowed to exhibit normal diving *** used a novel methodological approach in combining a flow-through respirometry setup with the open-source Arduino platform to measure mass and temperature effects on 4 different proxies for whole-body metabolism(total O_(2) consumption,cutaneous O_(2) consumption,pulmonary O_(2) consumption,and ventilation frequency),following thermal acclimation to one of 3 temperatures(8℃,17℃,or 26℃).Different metabolic proxies generated different mass-scaling exponents(b)and activation energy(EA)estimates,highlighting the importance of metabolic proxy selection when parameterizing MTE-derived *** acclimated to 17℃ had higher O_(2) consumption across all temperatures,but thermal acclimation did not influence estimates of key MTE parameters EA and *** respiration generated lower MTE parameters than pulmonary respiration,consistent with temperature and mass constraints on dissolved oxygen availability,sa:V ratios,and diffusion distances across *** results show that the choice of metabolic proxy can have a big impact on empirical estimates for key MTE model parameters.
