Diabetes exacerbates inflammatory bowel disease in mice with dietinduced obesity

BACKGROUND The increased prevalence of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)among patients with obesity and type 2 diabetes suggests a causal link between these diseases,potentially involving the effect of hyperglycemia to disrupt intestinal barrier *** To investigate whether the deleterious impact of diabetes on the intestinal barrier is associated with increased IBD severity in a murine model of colitis in mice with and without diet-induced *** mice were fed chow or a high-fat diet and subsequently received streptozotocin to induce diabetic-range *** weeks later,dextran sodium sulfate was given to induce *** select experiments,a subset of diabetic mice was treated with the antidiabetic drug dapagliflozin prior to colitis *** included both clinical and histological measures of colitis activity as well as histochemical markers of colonic epithelial barrier *** In mice given a high-fat diet,but not chow-fed animals,diabetes was associated with significantly increased clinical colitis activity and histopathologic markers of disease *** was also associated with a decrease in key components that regulate colonic epithelial barrier integrity(colonic mucin layer content and epithelial tight junction proteins)in diet-induced obese *** of these effects of diabetes in diet-induced obese mice was ameliorated by restoring *** In obese mice,diabetes worsened clinical and pathologic outcomes of colitis via mechanisms that are reversible with treatment of ***-induced intestinal barrier dysfunction offers a plausible mechanism linking diabetes to increased colitis *** findings suggest that effective diabetes management may decrease the clinical severity of IBD.

Developing applications for the by-products obtained from waste processing is vital for resource *** synthesis of ZnCl2-activated biochar with high electrocatalytic activity was carried out by the microwave-assisted pyrolysis of pineapple peel and subsequent chemical activation *** biochar is employed in the electrochemical sensing of nitrite by drop casting in a glassy carbon electrode(GCE).The activated biochar exhibited a stacked carbon sheet,254 m2 g−1 Brunauer,Emmett and Teller(BET)surface area,0.076 cm3 g−1 pore volume,189.53 m2 g−1 micropore area and oxygen-containing functional *** electrochemical impedance spectroscopy of the modified GCE showed a reduced charge transfer resistance of 61%.This is crucial to determine the electrochemical properties of *** sensor showed a significant current response and an excellent limit of detection of 0.97µmol L−*** modified-activated biochar electrochemical sensor demonstrated high selectivity,reproducibility(RSD=2.4%),and stability(RSD=2.6%).

The effects of the supplementation with L-glutamine(GLN)or L-alanyl-L-glutamine(GDP)on the progression of the systemic and hepatic metabolic status of rats having untreated type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1Dm)were *** Wistar diabetic rats(streptozotocin,60 mg/kg)were allotted to four groups supplemented by gavage for thirty days as follows:control and diabetic receiving saline;diabetic receiving GLN(248 mg/kg);and diabetic receiving GDP(400 mg/kg).Body weight,plasmatic parameters and kidney function were *** hepatocytes were used to assess gluconeogenic *** and kidney were used for morphological analyses.T1Dm decreased the number and increased the area of the hepatocytes,possibly because of the observed enlargement of glycogen *** weight,glomerular area and proteinuria increased,and glomerular filtration rate decreased,in non-supplemented T1Dm *** area and proteinuria were reversed by both *** T1Dm hepatocytes released less glucose,which could have been diverted to glycogen synthesis and secondary glycogenosis observed in T1Dm;this was partially reversed by the *** results point to a possible beneficial effect of glutamine on the metabolic and hepatic impairments of T1Dm.

Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the most common cancers in the world and is one of the leading indications for liver transplantation,liver transplantation is the gold standard treatment for end stage liver *** is based up on radiological characteristics and rarely biopsy *** treatment must be individualized to each patient to improve recurrences and *** this article,we focus on the different selection criteria for liver *** study aimed to investigate the distribution laws and research frontiers of international literature,so as to present holistic bibliometric evaluation of the studies on 5-year survival and disease-free recurrence in 5 years,according to hepatocarcinoma criteria for liver *** paper aims to review and analyze 5-year survival and disease-free recurrence based on hepatocarcinoma criteria for liver *** systematically examines and summarizes distribution characteristics and research frontiers through bibliometric analysis.A bibliographic search was implemented in Pubmed/medline,Clinical Key,Science Direct and Index medicus with mESH terms,from the year 1996–*** selected for transplantation using the metroticket 2.0(mT2)criteria had the highest overall survival along with patients selected for transplantation using the milan Criteria had the best 5-year disease-free *** metroticket 2.0 criteria(mT2)and milan Criteria(mC)have shown the most favorable post-transplant outcomes for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).However,mC demonstrated the best 5-year disease-free recurrence rate,underscoring the significance of taking into account tumor morphology and biology when determining the eligibility of HCC patients for liver *** distribution characteristics and research frontiers by bibliometrics concerning prognostic role of selection criteria for liver transplantation in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma the collaboration
