Health Education has shown itself as essential for the understanding of individuals about psychological and physical changes caused by diseases. The chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a severe public health problem, and it depends on health education measures for its control. A group of patients with COPD, in pneumatological medical treatment, were investigated to find information about the disease. An observational, descriptive and analytical study with analysis and application of a semistructured questionnaire to evaluate the individuals’ knowledge about the COPD. Collected data were registered and analyzed using Google Docs. The software used for the calculation of statistical measures was Microsoft Excel®. For the research participants’ characterization analysis, the use of grouped data for the frequency distribution of Sturges Rule was necessary. This study provided knowledge about which information a group of bearers of COPD receives at a college hospital providing treatment. The interviewed have an average age of 70 years old and most are women with education level between elementary and high school and diagnose time of 6.8

Phenological study of congeneric Myrcia species and Clethra scabra in wetland and drained habitats in a Montane Forest

Although important,phenological studies comparing congeneric species or the same species growing in different habitats are still scarce for the ***,we integrate phylogeny,ecology and biometeorology to verify whether the phenophases of congeneric species Myrcia laruotteana and Myrcia amazonica or Clethra scabra differ when their populations inhabit wetland and drained habitats and to determine what abiotic factors affect the vegetative and reproductive phenophases of these species in distinct habitat *** collected data on phenological events of 80 trees for 1 year in Itacolomi State Park,Brazil,and related them to abiotic local *** to our expectation,the phenophases of the congeneric species did not differ between habitats,but the reproductive phenophases of *** did and was greater in drained *** of *** were affected by the depth of the water table and maximum temperature in the wetland ***,precipitation,maximum temperature and relative humidity influenced Myrcia and Clethra in the drained *** differences between *** populations suggest that this species is phenotypically plastic and can present distinct phenophases depending on the habitat it *** the other hand,the congeneric Myrcia species may have similar phenophases in distinct habitats because of their shared similarities during their *** study provides a better understanding of the ecology of these species and their adaptations to different abiotic *** of this nature are important in a changing world and can inform strategies for adaptive management.

The use of biochar can have several effects on plant germination,depending on raw material,preparation method and application ***,the molecular mechanisms that lead to those results have yet to be *** aim of this research was to improve the understanding of these mechanisms by characterizing the metabolic effects of sugarcane bagasse biochar on soybean *** types of biochars were prepared by pyrolysis at 300℃(SCB300),400℃(SCB400)and 600℃(SCB600).Then,each one was mixed into sand at 1%,3%,5%(w/w)dose,*** experiment was performed in 8 days of incubation,when the number of germinated seeds and the average radicle length were *** evaluate the metabolome,the dry biomass(DB)was subjected to extraction with a mixture of methanol-d4 and D2O(1:1 v/v).The extracts were submitted to metabolomics analysis by Proton Nuclear Magnetic *** Relative Germination,Relative Average Radicle Growth and Germination Index increased in all treatments compared to *** the other hand,the DB increased in all treatments,except for SCB300,at doses of 1%and 3%w/*** metabolites(alanine,asparagine,acetic acid,citric acid,glycerol,fatty acids and sucrose)were identified and quantified in DB extracts as the most influential finding for the separation of *** together,these results strongly suggested that biochars accelerated the catabolism of triacylglycerols to sucrose and induced a slight osmotic stress.

Motivational and Methodological Factors Involved in the Helping Behavior Test in Laboratory Rodents

Empathy allows humans and other animals to share the emotional state of another, adopting that individual’s perspective on a given situation. This ability is fundamental for species living in groups. Helping behavior in laboratory animals has been used to study empathy. In this test, subjects are exposed to a conspecific that is trapped and learn to open the cage to release the other animal. However, the interpretation of helping behavior as an emphatically motivated action is still controversial. Here we review the studies that use the helping behavioral test proposed by Ben-Ami Bartal and colleagues in 2011 to better understand motivational factors for this behavior. In addition, we compare methodological aspects of these studies. In conclusion, helping behavior can be driven by empathy, but other factors such as the desire for social contact and learning components cannot be ruled out as motivators. In addition, studies focused on evaluating neurobiological mechanisms underlying helping behavior in laboratory rodents can help elucidate the factors involved in releasing the trapped co-specific.

In the era of information technology and big data,the extraction,commodification,and control of personal information is redefining how people relate and ***,the challenges that big data collection and analytics can introduce in trust-based societies,like those of Scandinavia,are not yet *** instance,in the energy sector,data generated through smart appliances,like smart metering devices,can have collateral implications for the *** this paper,we present a systematic review of scientific articles indexed in Scopus to identify possible relationships between the practices of collecting,processing,analysing,and using people’s data and people’s responses to such *** contextualise this by looking at research about Scandinavian societies and link this to the academic literature on big data and trust,big data and smart meters,data ethics and the energy sector,surveillance capitalism,and subsequently performing a reflexive thematic *** broadly situate our understanding of culture in this context on the interactions between cognitive norms,material culture,and energy *** analysis identified a number of articles discussing problems and solutions to do with the practices of surveillance *** also found that research addresses these challenges in different *** some research focuses on technological amendments to address users’privacy protection,only few examine the fundamental ethical questions that discuss how big data practices may change societies and increase their *** literature suggests that even in highly trusting societies,like the ones found in Scandinavian countries,trust can be undermined and weakened.

Treatment of acute severe ulcerative colitis using accelerated infliximab regimen based on infliximab trough level:A case report

BACKGROUND Acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC) is a complication of ulcerative colitisassociated with high levels of circulating tumor necrosis factor alpha, due to theintense inflammation and faster stool clearance of anti-tumor necrosis factordrugs. Dose-intensified infliximab treatment can be beneficial and is associatedwith lower rates of colectomy. The aim of the study was to present a case of apatient with ASUC and megacolon, treated with hydrocortisone and acceleratedscheme of infliximab that was monitored by drug trough *** SUMMARYA 22-year-old female patient diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, presented withdiarrhea, rectal bleeding, abdominal pain, vomiting, and distended *** investigation, a positive toxin for Clostridium difficile and colonic dilatationof 7 cm consistent with megacolon were observed. She was treated with oralvancomycin for pseudomembranous colitis and intravenous hydrocortisone forsevere colitis, which led to the resolution of megacolon. Due to the persistentsevere colitis symptoms, infliximab 5 mg/kg was prescribed, monitored by drugtrough level (8.8 μg/mL) and fecal calprotectin of 921 μg/g (dendoscopic response after 6 mo of therapy, without the need for a *** accelerated infusions can be beneficial in ASUC unresponsive to thetreatment with intravenous corticosteroids. Longitudinal studies are necessary todefine the best therapeutic drug monitoring and treatment regimen for thesepatients.

Study of interaction between metal ions and quercetin

A displacement test based on the interaction between the flavonoid quercetin and an excess of metal chloride allows the determination of the binding constant for the reaction between quercetin and Ca2+,Mg^2+and Ni^2+.The values obtained were 2.20±1.77×10^3 for Ca^2+,1.37±0.59×10^3 for Mg^2+and 7.03±1.04×10^4 for Ni^2+,and all interactions showed type 1:1 stoichiometry,as determined by titration and by the method of continuous variations(Job’s method).The complexion effect was observed qualitatively through a colorimetric change in the medium(yellow→neon yellow)and spectroscopically through a bathochromic shift in the absorption band of quercetin in the presence of *** investigation serves as a tool for the development and testing of materials capable of capturing toxic metal ions or favoring the absorption of beneficial ions(in relation to the human metabolism)through the construction of efficient bioorganic *** results reported herein allow understanding of this detection system,indicating the following ascending order of the binding constants(Mg^2+

Agriculture is facing increasing challenges due to several factors such as population growth and climate *** Farming is enabling the use of detailed digital information to guide decisions along the agricultural value *** technologies and solutions have been applied to provide alternatives to assist in information gathering and processing,and thereby contribute to increased agricultural ***,the main objective of this article is to present a bibliometric analysis regarding digitalization and Big Data applications in Smart Farming.A total of 2401 articles were found and,based on ProKnow-C methodology criteria,thirty-nine publications were selected and ***,the main solutions and opportunities about the topic were recognized aiming to direct future research.

Analysis of the genotoxic potential of low concentrations of Malathion on the Allium cepa cells and rat hepatoma tissue culture

Based on the concentration of Malathion used in the field, we evaluated the genotoxic potential of low concentrations of this insecticide on meristematic and F1 cells of Allium cepa and on rat hepatoma tissue culture（HTC cells）. In the A. cepa, chromosomal aberrations（CAs）, micronuclei（MN）, and mitotic index（MI） were evaluated by exposing the cells at 1.5,0.75, 0.37, and 0.18 mg/m L of Malathion for 24 and 48 hr of exposure and 48 hr of recovery time. The results showed that all concentrations were genotoxic to A. cepa cells. However,the analysis of the MI has showed non-relevant effects. Chromosomal bridges were the CA more frequently induced, indicating the clastogenic action of Malathion. After the recovery period, the higher concentrations continued to induce genotoxic effects, unlike the observed for the lowest concentrations tested. In HTC cells, the genotoxicity of Malathion was evaluated by the MN test and the comet assay by exposing the cells at 0.09, 0.009, and0.0009 mg/5 m L culture medium, for 24 hr of exposure. In the comet assay, all the concentrations induced genotoxicity in the HTC cells. In the MN test, no significant induction of MN was observed. The genotoxicity induced by the low concentrations of Malathion presented in this work highlights the importance of studying the effects of low concentrations of this pesticide and demonstrates the efficiency of these two test systems for the detection of genetic damage promoted by Malathion.

Health Profiles and Functional Independence in Former Cane Cutters from a Biofuel Plant in Bahia

Introduction: Brazil leads the production of sugarcane and its derived commodities, sugar and ethanol. The fact that it is predominantly manually harvested exposes the workers to a variety of health hazards. Since the harvest is a labor activity that exacts from the worker a heavy physical toll, involving the exertion of quick, repetitive movements that intensely overburden both one’s muscles and skeletal frame. Objective: To assess the health profile and functional independence in former workers who operated in a biofuel plant in Bahia. Methods: This is a descriptive, exploration-oriented study conducted with 42 workers formerly employed as cane cutters, both male and female and over 18 years old, all of them living in the town of Amélia Rodrigues (BA). The self-administered Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) was used to measure their quality of life, based on the World Health Organization’s classification of disabilities;the Functional Independence Measure (FIM) metrics was employed to keep track of functional independence. The FIM focuses on two aspects, motile and cognitive, subdivided further into categories designed to assess individual independence in tackling basic activities effectively and satisfactorily. Results: 42 individuals were assessed, most of them men (54.8%), predominantly adults (73.8%) of African descent (61.9%). Evidence, along with the correlation coefficient to analyze the FIM and the NHP, presents a significance level of 0.05 in the categories: Total NHP, Energy Level, Pain and Physical Abilities. Conclusion: This study found that there is harm to the health of former cane cutters as far as their sleep, energy levels and physical abilities are concerned. With these remarks, the authors expect to motivate health surveillance efforts regarding the risks in those work environments and the associated health issues, so that preventive and interventive public health measures can be implemented.
