iron-based coatings with the incorporation of solid lubricants have been prepared by means of laser cladding,in an effort to control friction and decrease tool wear at high temperatures during metal forming *** choice of a Fe-based powder has been considered advantageous,as it can lead to decreased costs compared to nickel-based claddings previously studied by the authors,in addition to having a lower environmental *** particular,the incorporation of transition metal dichalcogenides such as MoS_(2) as precursors leads to the encapsulation of silver in Fe-based self-lubricating claddings,resulting in a uniform distribution of the soft metal across the thickness of the *** tribological evaluation of the claddings at high temperatures shows that the addition of lubricious compounds leads to lower friction at room temperature and significantly decreased wear up to 600℃ compared to the unmodified iron-based reference alloy,although higher than similar self-lubricating Ni-based *** order to cast light into these observed differences,the corresponding microstructures,phase composition,and self-lubricating mechanisms have been studied and compared for Fe-and Ni-based claddings having both of them the addition of silver and MoS_(2).The results suggest a key role of the formation of protective tribolayers on the counter body during high temperature sliding *** simulation of the phase evolution during solidification reveals that the formation of different chromium-and nickel-based metal sulfides in Fe-and Ni-claddings during laser cladding by the decomposition of MoS_(2) plays a key role in determining their tribological behaviour at high temperatures.

The electronic structure of the strontium aluminate （SrAl2O4：Eu^2＋） materials was studied with a combined experimental and theo- retical approach. The UV-VUV synchrotron radiation was applied in the experimental study while the electronic structure of the non-optimized and optimized crystal structure were investigated theoretically by using the density functional theory. The structure of the valence and conduction bands as well as the band gap energy of the material together with the position of the Eu2＋ 4f7 85712 ground state were calculated. The calculated band gap energy （6.4 eV） agreed well with the experimental value of 6.6 eV. The valence band consisted mainly of oxygen states whereas the bottom of the conduction band of strontium states. in agreement with the experimental results, the calculated 4f7 8S7r2 ground state of Eu2＋ lies in the energy gap of the host. The position of the 4f7 ground state depended on the Coulomb repulsion strength. The position of the 4f7 ground state with respect to the valence and conduction bands was discussed using theoretical and experimental evidence available.

China’s first carbon dioxide(CO_(2))measurement satellite mission,TanSat,was launched in December *** paper introduces the first attempt to detect anthropogenic CO_(2) emission signatures using CO_(2) observations from TanSat and NO_(2) measurements from the TROPOspheric Monitoring instrument(TROPOMi)onboard the Copernicus Sentinel-5 Precursor(S5P)*** focus our analysis on two selected cases in Tangshan,China and Tokyo,*** found that the TanSat XCO_(2) measurements have the capability to capture the anthropogenic variations in the plume and have spatial patterns similar to that of the TROPOMi NO_(2) *** linear fit between TanSat XCO_(2) and TROPOMi NO_(2) indicates the CO_(2)-to-NO_(2) ratio of 0.8×10^(-16) ppm(molec cm^(-2))^(-1) in Tangshan and 2.3×10^(-16) ppm(molec cm^(-2))^(-1) in *** results align with the CO_(2)-to-NOx emission ratios obtained from the EDGAR v6 emission inventory.

Animals can avoid predation by masquerading as objects that are not food to their predators. Alder moth Acronicta alni larvae go through an impressive ontogenetic change from masquerade to highly conspicuous appearance： early larval stages resemble bird droppings but in the last instar the larval coloration changes into striking yellow-and-black stripes. We hypothe- sized that such a change may be driven by differential predation favoring dissimilar anti-predator strategies in different life stages We show with a series of laboratory assays that larvae are distasteful to birds regardless of their developmental stage, suggesting that ontogenetic color change is not driven by the differential chemical defense. Birds showed higher variance in hesitation to- ward conspicuous prey; some individuals hesitated long time before attacking whereas all birds attacked instantly masqueraded prey. We also found that the activity level of the larvae increased with age, which fits to the fact that larvae need to move from foliage to pupation sites. in the field by using artificial larvae resembling the two life-history stages we found predation risk to vary during the season： in early summer larger yellow-and-black larvae were attacked most, whereas later in the summer small ＇bird-dropping-larvae＇ suffered the highest predation. We conclude that the ontogenetic switch from masquerading to aposema- tism is adaptive most likely because actively moving prey cannot mimic immotile objects and thus, aposematism during the ac- tive and vulnerable period when larvae are searching for pupation sites becomes beneficial
