Seasonal dynamics of airborne biomolecules influence the size distribution of Arctic aerosols

Organic matter is crucial in aerosol-climate interactions,yet the physicochemical properties and origins of organic aerosols remain poorly *** we show the seasonal characteristics of submicron organic aerosols in Arctic Svalbard during spring and summer,emphasizing their connection to transport patterns and particle size ***-derived organic matter(MOM)and terrestrial-derived organic matter(TOM)accounted for over 90%of the total organic mass in Arctic aerosols during these seasons,comprising carbohydrate/protein-like and lignin/tannin-like compounds,*** spring,aerosols showed high TOM and low MOM intensities due to biomass-burning influx in the central *** contrast,summer exhibited elevated MOM intensity,attributed to the shift in predominant atmospheric transport from the central Arctic to the biologically active Greenland *** and TOM were associated with Aitken mode particles(100 nm diameter),*** association is linked to the molecular size of biomolecules,impacting the number concentrations of corresponding aerosol *** findings highlight the importance of considering seasonal atmospheric transport patterns and organic source-dependent particle size distributions in assessing aerosol properties in the changing Arctic.

Quantitative assessment of the relevance of organic-aniontransporting-polypeptide 1B1 and 2B1 polymorphisms in fexofenadine pharmacokinetic variants via pharmacometrics

Fexofenadine is useful in various allergic disease ***,the pharmacokinetic variability information and quantitative factor identification of fexofenadine are very *** study aimed to verify the validity of previously proposed genetic factors through fexofenadine population pharmacokinetic modeling and to explore the quantitative correlations affecting the pharmacokinetic *** of the organic-anion-transporting-polypeptide(OATP)1B1 and 2B1 have been proposed to be closely related to fexofenadine pharmacokinetic ***,modeling was performed using fexofenadine oral exposure data according to the OATP1B1-and ***1B1 and 2B1 were identified as effective covariates of clearance(CL/F)and distribution volume(V/F)-CL/F,respectively,in fexofenadine pharmacokinetic ***/F and average steady-state plasma concentration of fexofenadine differed by up to 2.17-and 2.20-folds,respectively,depending on the OATP1B1 *** the individuals with different OATP2B1 polymorphisms,the CL/F and V/F differed by up to 1.73-and 2.00-folds,*** of the areas under the curves following single-and multiple-administrations,and the cumulative ratio were significantly different between OATP1B1-and 2B1-polymorphism *** on quantitative prediction comparison through a model-based approach,OATP1B1 was confirmed to be relatively more important than 2B1 regarding the degree of effect on fexofenadine pharmacokinetic *** on the established pharmacokineticpharmacodynamic relationship,the difference in fexofenadine efficacy according to genetic polymorphisms of OATP1B1 and 2B1 was 1.25-and 0.87-times,respectively,and genetic consideration of OATP1B1 was expected to be important in the pharmacodynamics area as *** population pharmacometrics study will be a very useful starting point for fexofenadine precision medicine.

A 2-Dimensional Micro Flow Sensor with Wide Range Flow Sensing Properties

A new silicon micro flow sensor with multiple temperature sensing elements was proposed and numerically simulated in considering wide range flow measuring *** micro flow sensor has three pairs of temperature sensing elements with a central heater compared with typical sensor which has only a temperature sensing element on each side of a central heater.A numerical analysis of the micro flow sensor by Finite Difference Formulation for Heat Transfer Equation was *** nearest pair of temperature sensor showed very good linear sensitivity between 0 to 0.4m/s flow and saturated from 0.75m/s *** the furthest pair of temperature sensor showed some flow sensitivity even though the flow rate of 2.0m/***,this suggested new micro flow meter with multiple temperature sensing elements could be used as a thermal mass flow sensor which has accuracy sensitivity for very wide flow range.

Workers who conduct regular facility inspections in radioactive environments will inevitably be affected by ***,it is important to optimize the inspection path to ensure that workers are exposed to the least amount of *** study proposes a discrete Rao-combined artificial bee colony(ABC)algorithm for planning inspection paths with minimum exposure doses in radioactive environments with *** this algorithm,retaining the framework of the traditional ABC algorithm,we applied the directional solution update rules of Rao algorithms at the employed bee stage and onlooker bee stage to increase the exploitation ability of the algorithm and implement discretion using the swap operator and swap *** increase the randomness of solution generation,the chaos algorithm was used at the initialization *** K-opt operation technique was introduced at the scout bee stage to increase the exploration ability of the *** path planning in an environment with complex structural obstacles,an obstacle detour technique using a recursive algorithm was *** evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm,we performed experimental simulations in three hypothetical environments and compared the results with those of improved particle swarm optimization,chaos particle swarm optimization,improved ant colony optimization,and discrete Rao’s *** experimental results show the high performance of the proposed discrete Rao-combined ABC algorithm and its obstacle detour capability.

A Lane-Level Road Marking Map Using a Monocular Camera

The essential requirement for precise localization of a self-driving car is a lane-level map which includes road markings(RMs).Obviously,we can build the lane-level map by running a mobile mapping system(MMS)which is equipped with a high-end 3D LiDAR and a number of high-cost *** approach,however,is highly expensive and ineffective since a single high-end MMS must visit every place for *** this paper,a lane-level RM mapping system using a monocular camera is *** developed system can be considered as an alternative to expensive high-end *** developed RM map includes the information of road lanes(RLs)and symbolic road markings(SRMs).First,to build a lane-level RM map,the RMs are segmented at pixel level through the deep learning *** network is named *** segmented RMs are then gathered to build a lane-level RM ***,the lane-level map is improved through loop-closure detection and graph *** train the RMNet and build a lane-level RM map,a new dataset named SeRM set is *** set is a large dataset for lane-level RM mapping and it includes a total of 25157 pixel-wise annotated images and 21000 position labeled ***,the proposed lane-level map building method is applied to SeRM set and its validity is demonstrated through experimentation.

Safety assessment of condensed phosphate intake from fishery and processed marine food products in Korea with respect to gender,age,and region

Condensed phosphates are used as food additives,especially in marine products and meat,to improve food *** import and consumption of fishery and processed marine food products in Republic of Korea have reportedly increased by~5 per cent ***,processed marine food products are often intentionally adulterated with excessive amounts of condensed phosphates to increase their *** intake of condensed phosphates via consuming processed marine food products can lead to various adverse effects on human health due to anionic ***,we conducted a safety assessment of condensed phosphates in 14 types of fishery and processed marine food products in Korea for the first *** analysis of various factors including gender,age,and region was also performed,and the risk level of exposure for each group was *** assessments by age and gender indicated that infants were at the highest *** the regional safety assessment,Chungnam,the most inland region,showed the lowest *** both the general and the high-intake groups(95th percentile)in all classifications,the risk was lower(<20 per cent)than the international standard,and the phosphorus content of the 14 types of processed marine products in Korea was confirmed to be safe for human consumption.

Effects of a Building’s Density on Flow in Urban Areas

The effects of a building＇s density on urban flows are investigated using a CFD model with the RNG k - ε turbulence closure scheme. Twenty-seven cases with different building＇s density parameters （e.g., building and street-canyon aspect ratios） are numerically simulated. As the building＇s density parameters vary, different flow regimes appear. When the street canyon is relatively narrow and high, two counterrotating vortices in the vertical direction are generated. The wind speed along streets is mainly affected by the building＇s length. However, it is very difficult to find or generalize the characteristics of the street-canyon flows in terms of a single building＇s density parameter. This is because the complicated flow patterns appear due to the variation of the vortex structure and vortex number. Volume-averaged vorticity magnitude is a very good indicator to reflect the flow characteristics despite the strong dependency of flows on the variation of the building＇s density parameters. Multi-linear regression shows that the volume-averaged vorticity magnitude is a strong function of the building＇s length and the street-canyon width. The increase in the building＇s length decreases the vorticity of the street-canyon flow, while, the increase in the street- canyon width increases the vorticity.

Extreme venous letting and cupping resulting in life-threatening anemia and acute myocardial infarction:A case report

BACKGROUND Wet cupping (WC) is a traditional therapy of skin suction-assisted bloodlettingthat is widely used in modern alternative medicine in Asia and the Middle ***, we report the case of a male who presented with ST-elevation myocardialinfarction (STEMI) and life-threatening anemia and underwent excessive *** SUMMARY A 55-year-old male presented with chest pain (30 min) and dyspnea (3 wk). Hisinitial electrocardiogram suggested STEMI in the anterior wall. Furthermore, hislaboratory results showed severe anemia with a hemoglobin level of 4.1 g/dL. Ofnote, the patient underwent regular WC therapy for chronic back pain, which hehad recently intensified. His WC practice resulted in life-threatening anemia andeventually STEMI. Percutaneous coronary intervention in the left anteriordescending artery was performed to treat the STEMI. His dyspnea dramaticallyimproved after the transfusion, and his hemoglobin level returned to 14.8 g/dLwithin 2 mo after discharge. He has been uneventful for the last seven years *** The current case demonstrates that excessive WC without adequate medicalmonitoring can result in severe anemia, which can further develop into STEMI.

Improvement of hydrogen embrittlement and stress corrosion cracking by annealing for Al-4.4Mg-0.6Mn alloy

With no annealing treatment, cathodic polarization trends in 5083F A1 alloy revealed concentration polarization and activation polarization. However, the annealed specimens have lower current densities at corrosion protection potential compared to the non-annealed specimen. The results of SSRTs conducted in seawater at the applied potential range of-l.8 V to -0.5 V indicated that the maximum tensile strength, elongation, and time-to-fracture had high values at applied potentials of -0.7 to -1.4 V. The maximum tensile strength, elongation, and time-to-f？acture decreased when the potential values were beyond this range in either anodic or cathodic direction. In general, the increased shear lip caused by annealing treatment indicates elongation. Time-to-fracture would likely increase with elongation. Potentials between -0.5 V to -0.6 V were found to be in the region of stress corrosion cracking. The corrosion protection zone was determined to be -0.7 V to -J,4 V because these potential ranges produced good mechanical properties. Potential less than -1.4 V produced a fractured surface with a mixture of dimples （ductile fractures） and a quasi-cleavage pattern resulting from the effects of hydrogen gas.

Influence of CaO on damping capacity and mechanical properties of Mg alloy

For developing cost effective damping Mg alloys with high damping capacity and better mechanical properties, the microstructures, the mechanical properties at room temperature and the damping capacity of Mg alloy adding CaO were investigated and compared with those of K1A alloy. CaO adding into pure Mg maintains the damping capacity and increases the ultimate tensile strength compared with those of pure Mg. Mg-CaO alloy can be regarded as cost-effective damping alloy with high damping and mechanical properties as well as with the advantages of improving oxidation and burning resistances.
