Although antivirals are important tools to control severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection,effective vaccines are essential to control the current coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)***-derived virus-like particle(VLP)vaccine candidates have previously demonstrated immunogenicity and efficacy against ***,we report the immunogenicity and protection induced in rhesus macaques by intramuscular injections of a VLP bearing a SARS-CoV-2 spike protein(CoVLP)vaccine candidate formulated with or without Adjuvant System 03(AS03)or cytidine-phospho-guanosine(CpG)*** a single dose of the unadjuvanted CoVLP vaccine candidate stimulated humoral and cell-mediated immune responses,booster immunization(at 28 days after priming)and adjuvant administration significantly improved both responses,with higher immunogenicity and protection provided by the AS03-adjuvanted *** micrograms of CoVLP adjuvanted with AS03 induced a polyfunctional interleukin-2(IL-2)-driven response and IL-4 expression in CD4 T *** were challenged by multiple routes(i.e.,intratracheal,intranasal,and ocular)with a total viral dose of 106 plaque-forming units of *** viral replication in nasal swabs and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF)as well as fewer SARS-CoV-2-infected cells and immune cell infiltrates in the lungs concomitant with reduced levels of proinflammatory cytokines and chemotactic factors in the BALF were observed in animals immunized with the CoVLP adjuvanted with *** clinical,pathologic,or virologic evidence of vaccineassociated enhanced disease was observed in vaccinated *** CoVLP adjuvanted with AS03 was therefore selected for vaccine development and clinical trials.

The numerical study of thin film type condensation in forced convection of a saturated pure vapor in an inclined wall covered with a porous material is presented. The generalized Darcy-Brinkman-Forchheimer (DBF) model is used to describe the flow in the porous medium while the classical boundary layer equations have been exploited in the case of a pure liquid. The dimensionless equations are solved by an implicit finite difference method and the iterative Gauss-Seidel method. The objective of this study is to examine the influence of the Prandtl number on the hydrodynamic and thermal fields but also on the local Nusselt number and on the boundary layer thickness. For Pr ≤ 0.7 (low) the velocity and the longitudinal temperature increase with the Prandtl number. On the other hand, when Pr ≥ 2 (high) the Prandtl number no longer influences the velocity and the longitudinal temperature. The local Nusselt number increases as the Prandtl number increases and the thickness of the hydrodynamic boundary layer increases as the Prandtl number decreases.

An initial exploration was conducted using mathematical and statistical methods to obtain relevant information about the determination of the physicochemical parameters capable of controlling As uptake by ryegrass grown on contaminated *** of As in the soils were from 10 to 47 mg/kg,mainly in the As（V） form（57%–73%）.Concentrations of As in water extracts were very low（61–700 μg/kg）.It was suggested that As（Ⅲ） was mainly in the uncharged species and As（V） in the charged *** methods revealed that the values of the ratio As（Ⅲ）/As（V） depended on the assimilated-phosphorus,the pseudo-total and water-extractable Fe contents and the soil p *** concentrations measured in ryegrass shoots ranged from 119 to 1602 μg/*** linear correlations were obtained between As in ryegrass shoots and water *** transfer coefficient of As correlated well with the ratio assimilated-phosphorus/***（Ⅲ）uptake by the shoot of ryegrass was controlled by the organic matter and Fe-oxide contents.

The study of forced convection in a porous medium has aroused and still arouses today the interest of many scientists and industrialists. A considerable amount of work has been undertaken following the discovery of the phenomenon. Solving a standard problem of forced convection in porous media comes down to predicting the temperature and velocity fields as well as the intensity of the flow as a function of the various parameters of the problem. A numerical study of the condensation in forced convection of a pure and saturated vapor on a vertical wall covered with a porous material is presented. The transfers in the porous medium and the liquid film are described respectively by the Darcy-Brinkman model and the classical boundary layer equations. The dimensionless equations are solved by an implicit finite difference method and the iterative Gauss-Seidel method. Our study makes it possible to examine and highlight the role of parameters such as: the Froude number and the thickness of the porous layer on the speed and the temperature in the porous medium. Given the objective of our study, the presentation of velocity and temperature profiles is limited in the porous medium. The results show that the Froude number does not influence the thermal field. The temperature increases with an increase in the thickness of the dimensionless porous layer. The decrease in the Froude number leads to an increase in the hydrodynamic field.

BACKGROUND Rectal sparing is an option for some rectal cancers with complete or good response after chemoradiotherapy(CRT);however,it has never been evaluated in patients with *** assessed long-term outcomes of a rectal-sparing approach in a liver-first strategy for patients with rectal cancer with resectable liver *** SUMMARY We examined patients who underwent an organ-sparing approach for rectal cancer with synchronous liver metastases using a liver-first strategy during 2010-2015(n=8).Patients received primary chemotherapy and pelvic *** surgery was performed during the interval between CRT completion and rectal tumor *** and oncological characteristics and long-term outcomes were *** SUMMARY All patients underwent liver metastatic resection with curative *** R0 rate was 100%.Six and two patients underwent local excision and a watch-and-wait(WW)approach,*** patients had T3N1 tumors at diagnosis and had good clinical response after *** median survival time was 60(range,14-127)*** patients were disease free for 5,8,and 10 years after the *** patients developed metastatic recurrence in the liver(n=5)and/or lungs(n=2).Only one patient developed local recurrence concurrent with metastatic recurrence 24 mo after the WW *** patients died during *** The results suggest good local control in patients undergoing organ-sparing strategies for rectal cancer with synchronous liver *** trials are required to validate these data and identify good candidates for these strategies.

Radiocarbon content in biogenic samples is widely used to study the variation of atmospheric CO2 due to anthropogenic activities. A total of 20 samples of several types of tree leaves, were analyzed for this study. Sampling was carried out at the end of the rainy season in 2017 from the surrounding of the SOCOCIM cement factory in Rufisque town. Rufisque is located on the peninsula of Cape Verde, 25 km east of Dakar, where it is the 《south gate》 of the agglomeration. Reference samples of five different species were collected during the same period (2017) from a clean zone. The 14C method was used for the determination of Δ14C values. The data show that the 14C concentration in the studied sites was significantly lower than the clean area, due to the release of anthropogenic CO2. To estimate the Suess effect, the fossil fuel fraction was determined based on equations of mass balance for CO2 concentration, stable isotopic composition of carbon, and 14C concentration. The results show that selected locations are affected differently according to their distance from the factory and the wind direction.

The aim of this study is to carry out hydrothermal alteration mapping and structural mapping using ASTER images in order to identify indices that could guide mining exploration work in the Poli area and its surroundings. To achieve this, the ASTER images were first preprocessed to correct atmospheric effects and remove vegetation influence. Secondly, a lineament mapping was conducted by applying Discrete Wavelet transform (DWT) algorithms to the First Principal Component Analysis (PCA1) of Visible near-Infrared (VNIR) and Shortwave Infrared (SWIR) bands. Lastly, band ratio methods were applied to the VNIR, SWIR, and Thermal Infrared (TIR) bands to determine indices of iron oxides/hydroxides (hematite and limonite), hydroxyl-bearing minerals (chlorite, epidote, and muscovite), and the quartz index. The results obtained showed that the lineaments were mainly oriented ne-SW, Ene-WSW, and E-W, with ne-SW being the most predominant direction. Concerning hydrothermal alteration, the identified indices covered almost the entire study area and showed a strong correlation with lithological data. Overlaying the obtained lineaments with the hydrothermal alteration indices revealed a significant correlation between existing mining indices and those observed in the field. Mineralized zones generally coincided with areas of high lineament density exhibiting significant hydrothermal alteration. Based on the correlation between existing mining indices and the results of hydrothermal and structural mapping, the results obtained can then be used as a reference document for any mining exploration in the study area.

Immunotoxic potential of aeration lagoon effluents for the treatment of domestic and hospital wastewaters in the freshwater mussel Elliptio complanata

Municipal wastewaters are major sources of pollution for the aquatic biota. The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of some pharmaceutical products and the immunotoxic potential of a municipal wastewater aeration lagoon for the treatment of the domestic wastewaters of a small town with wastewater inputs from a 400-bed hospital complex. Endemic mussels were collected, caged and placed in the final aeration lagoon and at sites 1 km upstream and 1 km downstream of the effluent outfall in the receiving river for a period of 14 days. The results showed that the final aeration lagoon contained high levels of total coliforms, conductivity and low dissolved oxygen （2.9 mg/L） as well as detectable amounts of trimethoprim, carbamazepine, gemfibrozil, and norfloxacin at concentrations exceeding 50 ng/L. The lagoon effluent was indeed toxic to the mussel specimens, as evidenced by the appearance of mortality after 14 days （10% mortality）, decreased mussel weight-to-shell-length ratio and loss of hemocyte viability. The number of adhering hemocytes, phagocytic activity, total nitrite levels and arachidonic cyclooxygenase activity were significantly higher in mussels placed in the final aeration lagoon. A multivariate analysis also revealed that water pH, conductivity, total coliforms and dissolved oxygen were the endpoints most closely linked with phagocytic activity, the amount of adhering hemocytes and loss of hemocyte viability. In conclusion, exposure of mussels to treated aerated lagoon wastewater is deleterious to freshwater mussels where the immune system is compromised.
