AIM: To e.tablish if a distinct urinary me.abolic profile.could be.ide.tifie. in Banglade.hi he.atitis-B he.atoce.lular carcinoma(HCC) patie.ts compare. to cirrhosis patie.ts and controls. Me.HODS: Urine.sample. from 42 Banglade.hi patie.ts with HCC(39 patie.ts with he.atitis-B HCC), 47 with cirrhosis on a background of he.atitis B, 46 with chronic he.atitis B, and se.e. e.hnically-matche. he.lthy controls we.e.analyze. using nucle.r magne.ic re.onance.NMR) spe.troscopy. A full die.ary and me.ication history was re.orde. for e.ch subje.t. The.urinary NMR data we.e.analyze. using principal compone.t analysis(PCA) and orthogonal partial le.stsquare. discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA) te.hnique.. The.principal aims at the.nitial surge.y are.to pre.e.ve.life. the. to pre.e.ve.gutle.gth, and maintain its continuity. In the.imme.iate.ostope.ative.pe.iod, the.e.ne.ds to be.a balance.e.we.n ke.ping the.patie.t alive.through the.use.of TPNand antise.re.ory age.ts and promoting gut adaptationwith the.use.of oral nutrition. lf the.gut fails to adaptduring this pe.iod, the. the.patie.t may re.uire.the.apywith more.spe.ific age.ts to promote.gut adaptation suchas growth factors and glutamine. lf following this, the.atie.t still has a short gut syndrome. the. the.principaloptions re.ain e.the. long te.m TPN, or inte.tinaltransplantation which re.ains a difficult and challe.gingproce.ure.with a high mortality and morbidity due.tore.e.tion.
