Protective effects of Ginkgo biloba extract on the ethanol-induced gastric ulcer in rats

AIM: To evaluate the preventive effect of Ginkgo biloba extract (GbE) on ethanol-induced gastric mucosal injuries in rats. METHODS: Female Wistar albino rats were used for the studies. We randomly divided the rats for each study into five subgroups: normal control, experimental control, and three experimental groups. The gastric ulcers were induced by instilling 1 mL 50% ethanol into the stomach. We gave GbE 8.75,17.5,26.25 mg/kg intravenously to the experimental groups respectively 30 min prior to the ulcerative challenge. We removed the stomachs 45 min later. The gastric ulcers, gastric mucus and the content of non-protein sulfhydryl groups (NP-SH), malondialdehyde (MDA), c-Jun kinase (JNK) activity in gastric mucosa were evaluated. The amount of gastric juice and its acidity were also measured. RESULTS: The findings of our study are as follows: (1) GbE pretreatment was found to provide a dose-dependent protection against the ethanol-induced gastric ulcers in rats; (2) the GbE pretreatment afforded a dose-dependent inhibition of ethanol-induced depletion of stomach wall mucus, NP-SH contents and increase in the lipid peroxidation (increase MDA) in gastric tissue; (3) gastric ulcer induced by ethanol produced an increase in JNK activity in gastric mucosa which also significantly inhibited by pretreatment with GbE; and (4) GbE alone had no inhibitory effect on gastric secretion in pylorus-ligated rats. CONCLUSION: The finding of this study showed that GbE significantly inhibited the ethanol-induced gastric lesions in rats. We suggest that the preventive effect of GbE may be mediated through: (1) inhibition of lipid peroxidation; (2) preservation of gastric mucus and NP-SH; and (3) blockade of cell apoptosis.

AIM: To investigate the effect of epidermal growth factor (EGF) on mucosal healing in rats with duodenal ***: Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into sham operation without EGF, sham operation with EGF, duodenal ulcer without EGF, or duodenal ulcer with EGF groups. Additionally, normal rats without operation served as the control group. Duodenal ulcer was induced in rats by 300 mL/L acetic acid. Rats with EGF were orally administered at a dose of 60 μg/kg/day in drinking water on the next day of operation (day 1). Healing of duodenal ulcer was detected by haematoxylin and eosin staining. Cell growth of damaged mucosa was determined by the contents of nucleic acids and proteins. The level of EGF in duodenal mucosa was measured by ***: The pathological results showed that duodenal ulcer rats with EGF improved mucosal healing compared with those without EGF after day 5. Duodenal ulcer rats with EGF significantly increased duodenal DNA content compared with those without EGF on day 15 (6.44±0.54mg/g VS 1.45±0.52 mg/g mucosa, P＜0.05). Duodenal RNA and protein contents did not differ between duodenal ulcer rats with and without EGF during the experimental *** operation and duodenal ulcer rats with EGF significantly increased duodenal mucosal EGF content compared with those without EGF on day 5 (76.0±13.7 ng/g VS 35.7±12.9ng/g mucosa in sham operation rats, and 68.3±10.9 ng/gVS 28.3±9.2 ng/g mucosa in duodenal ulcer rats, P＜0.05).CONCLUSION: Oral EGF can promote mucosal healing of the rats with duodenal ulcer by stimulating mucosal proliferation accompanied by an increase in mucosal EGF content.

AIM： To investigate the effect of hot water-extracted Lydurn barbarum （LBE） and Rehrnannia glutinosa （RGE） on cell proliferation and apoptosis in rat and/or human hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） cells. METHODS： Rat （H-4-Ⅱ-E） and human HCC （HA22T/ VGH） cell lines were incubated with various concentrations （0-10 g/L） of hot water-extracted LBE and RGE. After 6-24 h incubation, cell proliferation （n = 6） was measured by a colorimetric method. The apoptotic cells （n = 6） were detected by flow cytometry. The expression of p53 protein （n = 3） was determined by SDS-PAGE and Western blotting. RESULTS： Crude LBE （2-5 g/L） and RGE （2-10 g/L） dose-dependently inhibited proliferation of H-4-Ⅱ-E cells by 11% （P 〈 0.05） to 85% （P 〈 0.01） after 6-24 h treatment. Crude LBE at a dose of 5 g/L suppressed cell proliferation of H-4-Ⅱ-E cells more effectively than crude RGE after 6-24 h incubation （P 〈 0.01）. Crude LBE （2-10 g/L） and RGE （2-5 g/L） also dose-dependently inhibited proliferation of HA22T/VGH cells by 14%-43% （P 〈 0.01） after 24 h. Crude LBE at a dose of 10 g/L inhibited the proliferation of HA22T/VGH cells more effectively than crude RGE （56.8% ＋ 1.6% vs 70.3% ＋ 3.1% of control, P = 0.0003 〈 0.01）. The apoptotic cells significantly increased in H-4-Ⅱ-E cells after 24 h treatment with higher doses of crude LBE （2-5 g/L） and RGE （5-10 g/L）（P 〈 0.01）. The expression of p53 protein in H-4-Ⅱ-E cells was 119% and 143% of the control group compared with the LBE-treated （2, 5 g/L） groups, and 110% and 132% of the control group compared with the RGE -treated （5, 10 g/L） groups after 24 h. CONCLUSION： Hot water-extracted crude LBE （2-5 g/L） and RGE （5-10 g/L） inhibit proliferation and stimulate p53-mediated apoptosis in HCC cells.

采用激光熔钎焊方法对5052铝合金和T2紫铜进行对接试验,研究了激光功率(2000,2200,2400,2600,2800 W)对接头显微组织和力学性能的影响。结果表明:不同激光功率下接头铜侧钎焊区组织均以柱状晶为主,随着激光功率的增加,焊缝区树枝晶由细针状转变为雪花状;铜侧钎焊区由界面层和金属间化合物层组成,2000,2600 W激光功率下的界面层主要为AlCu相,金属间化合物层主要为Al_(4)Cu_(9)相,2400 W激光功率下的界面层主要由AlCu相和CuZn相组成,金属间化合物层主要为CuZn_(5)相;焊缝区主要由Al_(4.2)Cu_(3.2) Zn_(0.7)和Al_(0.71)Zn_(0.29)相组成。随着激光功率的增加,金属间化合物层厚度增加。激光功率对铜侧钎焊区的显微硬度影响较大,各接头的最高显微硬度均出现在铜侧钎焊区。随着激光功率的增加,接头最高硬度增加,抗拉强度先增大后减小;当激光功率为2400 W时,接头的抗拉强度最大,达到铝合金母材的92%,此时接头在靠近铝合金母材处断裂,而其他激光功率下制备的接头均在铜侧钎焊区和焊缝区处断裂。

Objective: To investigate suitable condition for extraction of the active components from Ajuga nipponensis(A. nipponensis). Methods: Orthogonal experimental design was used to determine the optimal extraction parameters for ecdysterones and flavonoids. Finally, the hepatoprotective abilities of A. nipponensis extracts were evaluated by CCl_4-induced animal models. Results:Maximum yields of flavonoids(7.87±0.10) mg/g and ecdysterones(0.73±0.02) mg/g could be obtained when the extraction time was 50 min, the extraction temperature was 60 ℃, and the ratio of sample to 70%(v/v) ethanol was 1:20(w/w). The antioxidant property of A. nipponensis was correlated to the concentration of its extracts. At 5 mg/m L, A. nipponensisextract scavenged 84.8% of DPPH radical and had absorbance values of 2.43±0.04 reducing power. Upon CCl_4-induced liver injury, glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase and glutamic pyruvic transaminase decreased significantly after the mice were treated with A. nipponensis. Histological researches also explained that A. nipponensis reduced the extent of liver lesions induced by CCl_4. Conclusions: A. nipponensis exhibited potent antioxidant activity in chemical experimental models and hepatoprotective effect against CCl_4-induced liver damage.

采用Al Si12药芯焊丝作为填充材料,对2 mm厚的6082铝合金与Q235B镀铜钢进行对接冷金属过渡(CMT)熔钎焊接试验,研究不同焊接速度和镀铜层厚度对接头焊缝成型、界面组织和力学性能的影响,探讨Cu元素对金属间化合物层(IMC)生长的影响。结果表明:当焊接速度为350 mm/min时,铝在钢板正反面均有良好的润湿铺展,焊缝成型美观;IMC层厚度过大或过小均会对接头性能产生不利影响,当镀铜层厚度为10μm时,IMC层厚度为2.38μm,接头抗拉强度达到峰值138.7 MPa,相较于未镀铜接头的提高了31.9%,接头断裂于铝侧热影响区。镀铜层可以抑制界面层中θ-Fe(Al,Si)_(3)相的生成,阻碍Al、Fe反应,降低IMC层厚度。适当的镀铜层厚度可以有效改善接头的力学性能。镀铜层厚度过大促使Al_(2)Cu相产生,成为接头的薄弱区域。

Given the complex clinical situations and the dynamic nature of nursing, the greatest challenge for nursing educators is performing objective evaluation of students’ clinical competence. The Objective Structured Clinical Evaluation (OSCE) is designed to address this challenge and it has been widely used in nursing education. However, its implementation in nursing education in Taiwan has been limited. Accordingly, a quasi-experimental design was utilized to examine students’ clinical performance and stress levels using a 12-station OSCE assessment. Further, we investigated the inter-rater reliability and internal consistency of the OSCE. After controlling for scores of clinical performance, overall differences in pre- and post-practicum stress in the OSCE group were significantly higher than in the control group (F (1, 89) = 4.89, p = 0.03). There was no group effect on practicum performance after controlling for grade point average (F (1, 89) = 2.69, p = 0.14). Cronbach’s alpha for 12 OSCE stations ranged from 0.22 to 0.80 and inter-rater reliability for all 12 stations showed Pearson’s r ranging between 0.76 and 1.00. Cohen’s kappa ranged from 0.70 to 1.00

This paper presents our investigation of the implicit factorization problem, where unknown prime factors of two RSA moduli share a certain number of middle bits. The problem is described as follows. Let N;= p;q;, N;=p;q;be two different n-bit RSA moduli, where q;, q;are both αn-bit prime *** that p;, p;share tn bits at positions from t;n to t;n =（t;+ t）n. Then this problem focuses on the condition about t, α to factor N;, N;efficiently. At PKC 2010, Faug`ere et al. showed that N;, N;can be factored when t > 4α. Subsequently, in 2015, Peng et al. improved this bound to t > 4α-3α;. In this paper,we directly apply Coppersmith’s method to the implicit factorization problem with shared middle bits, and a better bound t > 4α-4α;is obtained. The correctness of our approach is verified by experiments.
