For decades the ecologists are using the same methods in order to determine the environmental health of a community,however,the crescent need on defining how these processes act,triggered the development of new methods that could classify the organisms and their function at the *** we used the anuran larvae to understand the effects of an environmental gradient on the structure and organization of the anuran assemblages along it,and to access in a realistic form,the actual state of preservation of the la rgest remnant of Atlantic Rainforest on the Southernmost portion of *** found that despite the higher diversity of species and the conservation unit status of the place,the ecosystem itself is still in danger,given the low number of functional groups and thus a higher number of ecosystem services that can be lost.

BACKGROUND Obesity and comorbidities onset encompass gut dysbiosis,altered intestinal permeability,and *** that target gut dysbiosis can cope with obesity and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(naFLD)*** proliferator-activated receptor(PPAR)-alpha activation and dipeptidyl-peptidase-4(DPP-4)inhibition alleviate naFLD,but the mechanism may involve gut microbiota modulation and merits further *** To address the effects of PPAR-alpha activation and DPP-4 inhibition(isolated or combined)upon the gut-liver axis,emphasizing inflammatory pathways in naFLD management in high-fat-fed C57BL/6J *** Male C57BL/6J mice were fed a control diet(C,10%of energy as lipids)or a highfat diet(HFD,50%of energy as lipids)for 12 wk,when treatments started,forming the groups:C,HF,HFA(HFD+PPAR-alpha agonist WY14643,2.5 mg/kg body mass),HFL(HFD+DPP-4 inhibitor linagliptin,15 mg/kg body mass),and HFC(HFD+the combination of WY14643 and linagliptin).RESULTS The HFD was obesogenic compared to the C *** treatments elicited significant body mass loss,and the HFC group showed similar body mass to the C *** treatments tackled oral glucose intolerance and raised plasma glucagon-like peptide-1 *** metabolic benefits restored Bacteroidetes/Firmicutes ratio,resulting in increased goblet cells per area of the large intestine and reduced lipopolysaccharides concentrations in treated *** the gene level,treated groups showed higher intestinal Mucin 2,Occludin,and Zo-1 expression than the HFD *** reduced endotoxemia suppressed inflammasome and macrophage gene expression in the liver of treated *** observations complied with the mitigation of liver steatosis and reduced hepatic triacylglycerol,reassuring the role of the proposed treatments on naFLD *** PPAR alpha activation and DPP-4 inhibition(isolated or combined)tackled naFLD in dietinduced obese mice by restoration of gut-liver axis

This critical review of the literature shows that there is a close link between the microbiome,the gut,and the brain in Parkinson's *** vagus nerve,the main component of the parasympathetic nervous system,is involved in the regulation of immune response,digestion,heart rate,and control of *** can detect microbiota metabolites through its afferents,transferring this gut information to the central nervous *** and clinical studies have shown the important role played by the gut microbiome and gut-related factors in disease development and progression,as well as treatment *** findings suggest that the gut microbiome may be a valuable target for new therapeutic strategies for Parkinson's *** studies are needed to better understand the underlying biology and how this axis can be modulated for the patient's benefit.

In this paper, we present an approach that can handle Z-numbers in the context of multi-criteria decision-making problems. The concept of Z-number as an ordered pair Z=(A, B) of fuzzy numbers A and B is used, where A is a linguistic value of a variable of interest and B is a linguistic value of the probability measure of A. As human beings, we communicate with each other by means of natural language using sentences like "the journey from home to university most likely takes about half an hour." The Z-numbers are converted to fuzzy numbers. Then the Z-TODIM and Z-TOPSIS are presented as a direct extension of the fuzzy TODIM and fuzzy TOPSIS, respectively. The proposed methods are applied to two case studies and compared with the standard approach using crisp values. The results obtained show the feasibility of the approach.

This study aimed to evaluate the features related to consumers’ reading nutritional labels in a city in the interior of the São Paulo State, Brazil. A questionnaire was answered by 100 consumers of a supermarket chain, sociodemographic information and data related to label reading habits were collected. Tables with percentage values and bar graphs were used. Chi-square tests and logistic regression models were performed to verify the association between the variables and the label reading habits. The factors that showed significant associations with the reading labels were gender, ease to understand the labels and access to their information (p 0.10). People who had already read labels reported to have more difficulty to understand the information contained on them, and people who had already received instructions on the labels were three and a half times more likely to read the instructions contained on them than those who hadn’t received any guidance. This study points to the need to expand the disclosure to consumers about the contents present on the labels, through more accessible language, so that the labels fulfill their role to instruct consumers in their choices.

Throughout its lifetime,high-voltage circuit breaker(HVCB)contacts suffer from inevitable degradation processes,especially during the formation of electric *** degraded contacts can reduce the current interruption capacity and increase the chances of operational faults,which might lead to considerable financial ***,the use of efficient evaluating techniques is a key factor to achieve systems *** dynamic resistance measurement(DRM)is a technique that can be used to evaluate the degradation level of HVCB'*** stands out from the usual technique,static resistance measurement,by allowing the assessment of both the main contacts and the arcing contacts(ACs).Usually,the mean resistance or the area under the DRM curve is used to estimate the AC ***,DRM is a non-standardised technique and there are no specified parameters to evaluate the real wear ***,an analysis of alternative parameters extractible from the DRM technique is presented in this study,such as amplitude and variance of the DRM *** results attest the possible use of more than one parameter for the continuous evaluation of HVCB ACs,characterising the DRM as a more complete and precise diagnosis tool.

Rock slope hazard assessment is an important part of risk analysis for open pit *** main parameters that can lead to rock slope failures are the parameters traditionally used in geomechanical classifications,the slope geometrical parameters and external factors like rainfall and *** paper presents a methodology for a hazard assessment system for open pit mine slopes based on 88 cases collated around the world using principal components analysis,discriminant analysis and confidence *** historical cases used in this study included copper,gold,iron,diamond,lead and zinc,platinum and claystone *** variables used in the assessment methodology are uniaxial compressive strength of intact rock;spacing,persistence,opening,roughness,infilling and orientation of the main discontinuity set;weathering of the rock mass;groundwater;blasting method;and height and inclination of the *** principal component analysis was used to quantify the data,the discriminant analysis was used to establish a rule to classify new slopes about its stability *** provide a practical hazard assessment system,confidence ellipses were used to propose a hazard graph and generate the *** discriminant rule developed in this research has a high discrimination capacity with an error rate of 11.36%.
