The use of computer animation in behavioral research is a state-of-the-art method for designing andpresenting animated animals to live test animals. The major advantages of computer animations are：（1） the creation of animated animal stimuli with high variability of morphology and even behavior; （2）animated stimuli provide highly standardized, controlled and repeatable testing procedures; and （3）they allow a reduction in the number of live test animals regarding the 3Rs principle. But the use of ani-mated animals should be attended by a thorough validation for each test species to verify that behaviormeasured with live animals toward virtual animals can also be expected with natural stimuli. Here wepresent results on the validation of a custom-made simulation for animated 3D sailfin mollies Poecilialatipinna and show that responses of live test females were as strong to an animated fish as to a videoor a live male fish. Movement of an animated stimulus was important but female response was stron-ger toward a swimming 3D fish stimulus than to a ＂swimming＂ box. Moreover, male test fish wereable to discriminate between animated male and female stimuli; hence, rendering the animated 3D fisha useful tool in mate-choice experiments with sailfin mollies.

The increasing shortage of donors and the adverse effects of immunosuppression have restricted the impact of solid organ *** the initial promising developments in xenotransplantation,roadblocks still need to be overcome and this form of organ support remains a long way from clinical *** hepatocyte transplantation may be effectively correct metabolic defects,it is far less effective in restoring liver function than liver *** engineering,using extracellular matrix scaffolds with an intact but decellularized vascular network that is repopulated with autologous or allogeneic stem cells and/or adult cells,holds great promise for the treatment of failure of organs within gastrointestinal tract,such as endstage liver disease,pancreatic insufficiency,bowel failure and type 1 *** in the liver field,where there is a significant mortality of patients awaiting transplant,human bioengineering may offer a source of readily available organs for *** use of autologous cells will mitigate the need for long term immunosuppression thus removing a major hurdle in transplantation.

Aluminum metal matrix composites （Al-MMCs） are difficult to machine. The reinforcement of aluminum using ceramic particles accelerates tool wear. Moreover, demanded machining accuracies or properties of the surface layer are difficult to achieve. In the present study, the effect of silicon carbide reinforcement particles on the surface layer of the workpiece was investigated using multiple cutting conditions for dry turning. Three differently reinforced Al-MMCs regarding the volume percent-age （17% and 30%） and the particle size （0.6 μm and 3 μm） and their non-reinforced matrix were considered as the workpiece materials. The reinforcement and the cutting condition affect the results of turning. A greater particle volume percent improves the surface roughness and decreases the tensile stress in the surface. The smaller particle size caused a lower tensile stress in the surface. A general effect of the particle size on the workpiece roughness can not be concluded. The most important cutting parameter for the surface layer of the workpiece is the feed. Greater feeds decrease the tensile stress in the surface, but deteriorate the surface quality.

Animal behavior researchers often face problems regarding standardization and reproducibility oftheir experiments. This has led to the partial substitution of live animals with artificial virtual stim-uli. In addition to standardization and reproducibility, virtual stimuli open new options for re-searchers since they are easily changeable in morphology and appearance, and their behavior canbe defined. In this article, a novel toolchain to conduct behavior experiments with fish is presentedby a case study in sailfin mollies Poecilia latipinna. As the toolchain holds many different and novelfeatures, it offers new possibilities for studies in behavioral animal research and promotes thestandardization of experiments. The presented method includes options to design, animate, andpresent virtual stimuli to live fish. The designing tool offers an easy and user-friendly way to definesize, coloration, and morphology of stimuli and moreover it is able to configure virtual stimuli ran-domly without any user influence. Furthermore, the toolchain brings a novel method to animatestimuli in a semiautomatic way with the help of a game controller. These created swimming pathscan be applied to different stimuli in real time. A presentation tool combines models and swim-ming paths regarding formerly defined playlists, and presents the stimuli onto 2 *** with live sailfin mollies validated the usage of the created virtual 3D fish models inmate-choice experiments.

AIM:To evaluate the outcome of over-the-scope-clip system(OTSC)for endoscopic treatment of various indications in daily clinical practice in ***:This prospective,consecutive case series was conducted at a tertiary care hospital from September 2010 to january *** for OTSC application were fistulae,anastomotic leakage,perforation,unroofed submucosal lesion for biopsy,refractory bleeding,and stent fixation in the gastrointestinal(GI)*** technical success was defined as the adequate deployment of the OTSC on the target *** success was defined as resolution of the problem;for instance,no requirement for surgery or further endoscopic *** cases of recurrence,retreatment of a lesion with a second intervention was *** were classified into those related to sedation,endoscopy,or deployment of the ***:A total of 28 OTSC system applications werecarried out in 21 patients[median age 64 years(range42-85),33%females].The main indications were fistulae(52%),mostly after percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube removal,and anastomotic leakage after GI surgery(29%).Further indications were unroofed submucosal lesions after biopsy,upper gastrointestinal bleeding,or esophageal stent *** OTSC treatments were applied either in the upper(48%)or lower(52%)GI *** mean lesion size was 8 mm(range:2-20 mm).Primary technical success and clinical success rates were 85%and 67%,***53%of cases,the suction method was used without accessories(e.g.,twin grasper or tissue anchor).No endoscopy-related or OTSC-related complications were ***:OTSC is a useful tool for endoscopic closure of various GI lesions,including fistulae and *** randomized prospective multicenter trials are warranted.

Osseous reconstruction of large bone defects remains a challenge in oral and maxillofacial *** addition to autogenous bone grafts,which despite potential donor-site mobility still represent the gold standard in reconstructive surgery,many studies have investigated less invasive alternatives such as in vitro cultivation *** study compared different types of seeding techniques on pureβ-tricalcium phosphate scaffolds in terms of bone formation and ceramic resorption in *** scaffolds loaded with autologous cancellous bone,venous blood,bone marrow aspirate concentrate or extracorporeal in vitro cultivated bone marrow stromal cells were cultured in sheep on a perforator vessel of the musculus latissimus dorsi over a 6-month *** and histomorphometric analyses revealed that scaffolds loaded with cancellous bone were superior at promoting heterotopic bone formation and ceramic degradation,with autogenous bone and bone marrow aspirate concentrate inducing in vivo formation of vital bone *** results confirm that autologous bone constitutes the preferred source of osteoinductive and osteogenic material that can reliably induce heterotopic bone formation in vivo.
