Periodic noble metal nanoparticles offer a wide spectrum of applications including chemical and biological sensors,optical devices,and model catalysts due to their extraordinary *** sensing purposes and catalytic studies,substrates made of glass or fused-silica are normally required as supports,without the use of metallic adhesion ***,precise patterning of such uniform arrays of silica-supported noble metal nanoparticles,especially at sub-100 nm in diameter,is challenging without adhesion *** this paper,we report a robust method to large-scale fabricate highly ordered sub-20 nm noble metal nanoparticles,i.e.,gold and platinum,supported on silica substrates without adhesion layers,combining displacement Talbot lithography(DTL)with dry-etching *** photoresist nanocolumns at diameters of~110 nm are patterned on metal-coated oxidized silicon wafers using DTL,and subsequently transferred at a 1:1 ratio into anti-reflection layer coating(BARc)nanocolumns with the formation of nano-sharp tips,using nitrogen plasma *** BARc nanocolumns are then used as a mask for etching the deposited metal layer using inclined argon ion-beam *** find that increasing the etching time results in coneshaped silica features with metal nanoparticles on the tips at diameters ranging from 100 nm to sub-30 nm,over large areas of 3×3 cm^(2).moreover,subsequent annealing these sub-30 nm metal nanoparticle arrays at high-temperature results in sub-20 nm metal nanoparticle arrays with~10^(10) uniform particles.

Recent advances in thermochemical storage technology have introduced a novel closed-loop thermal energy storage(TES)system,known as the heat battery(HB),which is believed to have great potential for aiding the energy transition in the built environment because of its higher energy density and neglectable storage loss compared to conventional TES *** order to investigate the potential use cases of the HB and provide practical feedback for its further development,this research employs a simulation-based approach to analyze its influence on building performance in various use cases within Dutch residential *** including the homeowner,distribution system operator,and district heating system operator are identified,and a preliminary list of use cases is defined based on relevant literature and input from the HB *** simulation approach is conducted to predict key performance indicators for each *** Kruskal-Wallis test was employed to sort and scrutinize the simulation outcomes and discern the significance of each use case *** findings demonstrated that the HB holds the potential to diminish both the operational energy cost by up to 30%for the homeowners and the peak heating load transmitted from the building to the district heating system.

Background The optimal management of ipsilateral extracranial internal carotid artery(IcA)stenosis during endovascular treatment(EVT)is *** compared the outcomes of two different strategies:EVT with vs without carotid artery stenting(cAS).methods In this observational study,we included patients who had an acute ischaemic stroke undergoing EVT and a concomitant ipsilateral extracranial IcA stenosis of≥50%or occlusion of presumed atherosclerotic origin,from the Dutch multicenter Randomized clinical Trial of Endovascular Treatment for Acute Ischemic Stroke in the Netherlands(mR cLEAN)Registry(2014-2017).The primary endpoint was a good functional outcome at 90 days,defined as a modified Rankin Scale score≤*** endpoints were successful intracranial reperfusion,new clot in a different vascular territory,symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage,recurrent ischaemic stroke and any serious adverse *** Of the 433 included patients,169(39%)underwent EVT with *** 123/168(73%)patients,cAS was performed before intracranial *** 42/224(19%)patients who underwent EVT without cAS,a deferred carotid endarterectomy or cAS was *** with and without cAS were associated with similar proportions of good functional outcome(47%vs 42%,respectively;adjusted OR(aOR),0.90;95%cI,0.50 to 1.62).There were no major differences between the groups in any of the secondary endpoints,except for the increased odds of a new clot in a different vascular territory in the EVT with cAS group(aOR,2.96;95%cI,1.07 to 8.21).conclusions Functional outcomes were comparable after EVT with and without *** during EVT might be a feasible option to treat the extracranial IcA stenosis but randomised studies are warranted to prove non-inferiority or superiority.

Basaltic volcanic conglomerates near the Wulgai village in Balochistan occur in the undivided sedimentary rock unit of the Bagh complex which is the mélange zone beneath the muslim Bagh ophiolite. The presence of middle Triassic grey radiolarian chert within the upper and lower horizon of the conglomerates suggests that the lavas, from which these conglomerates were principally derived, were eroded and re-deposited in the middle Triassic. The Wulgai conglomerate contains several textural and mineralogical varieties of volcanic rocks, such as porphyritic, glomerophyric, intersertal and vitrophyric basalts. The main minerals identified in these samples are augite, olivine, plagioclase（An35–78） leucite and nosean, with apatite ilmenite, magnetite and hematite occurring as accessory minerals. These rocks are mildly to strongly-alkaline with low mg~# and low cr, Ni and co contents suggesting that their parent magma had undergone considerable fractionation prior to eruption. Trace element-enriched mantle-normalized patterns with marked positive Nb anomalies are consistent with 10%–15% melting of an enriched mantle source in a within-plate tectonic setting. It is proposed that this middle Triassic intra-plate volcanism may represent mantle plume-derived melts related to the Late Triassic rifting of micro-continental blocks（including Afghan, Iran, Karakorum and Lhasa） from the northern margin of Gondwana.

Aluminum metal matrix composites （Al-mmcs） are difficult to machine. The reinforcement of aluminum using ceramic particles accelerates tool wear. moreover, demanded machining accuracies or properties of the surface layer are difficult to achieve. In the present study, the effect of silicon carbide reinforcement particles on the surface layer of the workpiece was investigated using multiple cutting conditions for dry turning. Three differently reinforced Al-mmcs regarding the volume percent-age （17% and 30%） and the particle size （0.6 μm and 3 μm） and their non-reinforced matrix were considered as the workpiece materials. The reinforcement and the cutting condition affect the results of turning. A greater particle volume percent improves the surface roughness and decreases the tensile stress in the surface. The smaller particle size caused a lower tensile stress in the surface. A general effect of the particle size on the workpiece roughness can not be concluded. The most important cutting parameter for the surface layer of the workpiece is the feed. Greater feeds decrease the tensile stress in the surface, but deteriorate the surface quality.
