Recent advances in thermochemical storage technology have introduced a novel closed-loop thermal energy storage(TES)system,known as the heat battery(HB),which is believed to have great potential for aiding the energy transition in the built environment because of its higher energy density and neglectable storage loss compared to conventional TES *** order to investigate the potential use cases of the HB and provide practical feedback for its further development,this research employs a simulation-based approach to analyze its influence on building performance in various use cases within Dutch residential *** including the homeowner,distribution system operator,and district heating system operator are identified,and a preliminary list of use cases is defined based on relevant literature and input from the HB *** simulation approach is conducted to predict key performance indicators for each *** Kruskal-Wallis test was employed to sort and scrutinize the simulation outcomes and discern the significance of each use case *** findings demonstrated that the HB holds the potential to diminish both the operational energy cost by up to 30%for the homeowners and the peak heating load transmitted from the building to the district heating system.

Poly(glycolic acid)is a biocompatible as well as biocomposable polymer with superior mechanical and barrier properties and,consequently,has found important applications in both medical and packaging ***,the high hydrolysis rate in a high humidity environment restricts its *** this work,a solid-state drawing process after melt extrusion is applied in order to produce fibrous PGA with enhanced mechanical properties and a much better resistance towards *** crystal structure of PGA gradually transformed from spherulites into oriented fibrous crystals in the stretching direction upon solid-state ***,both the length of microfibril and the size of lamellae increased initially with the drawing ratio(DR),while the chain-folded lamellae transformed into extended-chain fibrils at high(er)*** oriented structures lead to an overall improvement of the mechanical properties of PGA,e.g.,the tensile strength increased from 62.0±1.4 MPa to 910±54 MPa and the elongation at break increased from around 7%to 50%.Meanwhile,the heat capacity of totally mobile amorphous PGA(∆C_(p)^(0)=0.64 J·g^(−1)·℃^(−1))was reported for the first time,which was used to analyze the content of mobile amorphous fraction(XMAF)and rigid amorphous fraction(XRAF).Both the oriented chain-folded lamellae crystals and the tightly arranged RAF are beneficial to prevent water molecules from penetrating the matrix,thus improving the resistance towards *** a consequence,the fibrous PGA with a DR of 5 showed a tensile strength retention rate of 17.3%higher in comparison with the undrawn sample after 7-days accelerated ***,this work provides a feasible method to improve the mechanical and resistance towards hydrolysis performance of PGA,which may broaden its application and prolong the shelf-life of PGA products.

Background:Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)of rodents combined with histol-ogy allows to determine what mechanisms underlie functional and structural brain changes during sepsis-associated ***,the effects of MRI per-formed in isoflurane-anesthetized rodents on modifications of the blood-brain bar-rier and the production of vasoactive prostaglandins and glia cells,which have been proposed to mediate sepsis-associated brain dysfunction,are ***:This study addressed the effect of MRI under isoflurane anesthesia on blood-brain barrier integrity,cyclooxygenase-2 expression,and glial cell activation during cecal ligature and puncture-induced sepsis-associated brain dysfunction in ***:Cecal ligature and puncture reduced food intake and the righting *** under isoflurane anesthesia reduced blood-brain barrier breakdown,decreased cir-cularity of white matter astrocytes,and increased neuronal cyclooxygenase-2 immu-noreactivity in the cortex 24 hours after *** addition,it annihilated cecal ligature and puncture-induced increased circularity of white matter *** under isoflurane anesthesia,however,did not alter sepsis-associated perivascular cyclooxygenase-2 ***:These findings indicate that MRI under isoflurane anesthesia of rodents can modify neurovascular and glial responses and should,therefore,be interpreted with caution.

Transposons are effective mutagens alternative to T-DNA for the generation of insertional mutants in many plant species including those whose transformation is inefficient. The current strategies of transposon tagging are usually slow and labor-intensive and yield low frequency of tagged lines. We have constructed a series of transposon tagging vectors based on three approaches：（i） AcTPase controlled by glucocorticoid binding domain/VP16 acidic activation domain/Gal4 DNA-binding domain （GVG） chemical-inducible expression system; （ii） deletion of AcTPase via Cre-lox site-specific recombination that was initially triggered by Ds excision; and （iii） suppression of early transposition events in transformed rice callus through a dual-functional hygromycin resistance gene in a novel Ds element （HPT-Ds）, We tested these vectors in transgenic rice and characterized the transposition events. Our results showed that these vectors are useful resources for functional genomics of rice and other crop plants. The vectors are freely available for the community,

We present a case of a 71-year-old woman with unexplained instability of her total hip arthroplasty 12 years after implantation due to loosening of the ceramic component of a sandwich ceramic in polyethylene liner. She experienced in total 2 dislocations in 6 months. These events occurred without fracture of the ceramic liner. Sandwich ceramic liners were introduced with the idea of combining the benefits of ceramic and polyethylene bearings in total hip arthroplasty in order to reduce wear and to allow a ceramic on ceramic bearing to be used in a cup designed for polyethylene inserts only. Although some reports showed promising early results, case reports and later on retrospective analysis showed high fracture rates of the ceramic liner component. We believe that loosening of the ceramic component may precede fracture of the liner and that a ceramic on ceramic configuration is preferable.
