Different radial growth responses to c.imate warming by two dominant tree spec.es at their upper altitudinal limit on c.angbai Mountain

We analyzed the influenc. of c.imate c.ange over the past 50 years on the radial growth of two tree spec.es: Korean pine (Pinus koraiensis) and Yezo spruc. (Pic.a jezoensis), loc.ted on c.angbai Mountain, Northeast c.ina, using a dendroc.ronology approac. to understand fac.ors that limit the altitude for tree spec.es. Elevated temperatures inc.eased the radial growth of Korean pine and dec.eased that of Yezo spruc.. The positive response of tree growth to hydrothermal c.nditions was the key reason that the upper limit of elevation of Korean pine followed the temperature fluc.uation pattern. Inc.eased temperatures and prec.pitation and longer growing seasons ac.elerated Korean pine growth. As the temperature inc.eased, c.rrelations between Korean pine ring-width c.ronology and prec.pitation c.anged from negative to positive. In Yezo spruc., inc.easing monthly temperatures and inadequate prec.pitation during the middle and late parts of the growing season led to narrow growth rings, whereas dec.easing monthly temperatures and suffic.ent prec.pitation during the late growing season promoted growth. Rising temperatures and adequate prec.pitation inc.eases Korean pine growth, possibly elevating the upper range limit in altitude for this spec.es. In c.ntrast, Yezo spruc. growth is negatively affec.ed by warming temperatures and limited prec.pitation. Under future temperature inc.eases and prec.pitation fluc.uations, the upper limit altitude of Korean pine c.n reasonably be expec.ed to shift upward and Yezo spruc. downward.

为研究生境恢复及地形变化导致的景观异质性对退化景观中生物多样性的影响,于2006和2007年对河北坝上3个不同海拔村庄的农田生境与恢复中的禁牧草地或再造林等半自然生境的尺蛾群落采用灯诱法进行取样调查,比较不同生境的尺蛾多样性.结果表明:两种生境类型间物种数和个体数存在显著差异、不同海拔村庄物种数也存在显著差异,但不同海拔村庄间个体数差异不显著,不同海拔村庄间以及各村庄内农田和半自然生境稀疏标准化物种数和Fisher α指数无显著差异;非度量多维标度法(NMDS)显示不同海拔的不同生境下尺蛾群落结构显著不同.地形变化导致的景观异质性对坝上地区尺蛾群落组成及多样性影响显著,而无论是恢复中的草地、再造林等半自然生境还是农田生境均是维持尺蛾多样性的重要生境.注重不同地形条件下农田生境和半自然生境景观镶嵌体的保护对维持尺蛾群落γ多样性具有重要意义,但生境恢复能否促进尺蛾群落多样性恢复尚需长期监测.

Lunar Environment heliospheric.X-ray Imager(LEXI)and Solar wind−Magnetosphere−Ionosphere Link Explorer(SMILE)will observe magnetosheath and its boundary motion in soft X-rays for understanding magnetopause rec.nnec.ion modes under various solar wind c.nditions after their respec.ive launc.es in 2024 and *** c.nditions,namely,plasma density,veloc.ty,and temperature,are key parameters for predic.ing and analyzing soft X-ray images from the LEXI and SMILE *** developed a userfriendly model of magnetosheath that parameterizes number density,veloc.ty,temperature,and magnetic.field by utilizing the global Magnetohydrodynamic.(MHD)model as well as the pre-existing gas-dynamic.and analytic.*** this parameterized magnetosheath model,sc.entists c.n easily rec.nstruc. expec.ed soft X-ray images and utilize them for analysis of observed images of LEXI and SMILE without simulating the c.mplic.ted global magnetosphere ***,we c.eated an MHD-based magnetosheath model by running a total of 14 OpenGGc. global MHD simulations under 7 solar wind densities(1,5,10,15,20,25,and 30 c.)and 2 interplanetary magnetic.field Bz c.mponents(±4 nT),and then parameterizing the results in new magnetosheath *** c.mpared the magnetosheath model result with THEMIS statistic.l data and it showed good agreement with a weighted Pearson c.rrelation c.effic.ent greater than 0.77,espec.ally for plasma density and plasma ***,we c.mpiled a suite of magnetosheath models inc.rporating previous magnetosheath models(gas-dynamic.analytic.,and did two c.se studies to test the *** MHD-based model was c.mparable to or better than the previous models while providing self-c.nsistenc. among the magnetosheath ***,we c.nstruc.ed a tool to c.lc.late a soft X-ray image from any given vantage point,whic. c.n support the planning and data analysis of the aforementioned LEXI and SMILE missions.A release of the c.de has been uploaded to a Git

Bac.ground Subac.te ruminal ac.dosis(SARA) is a c.mmon metabolic.disorder of high yielding dairy c.ws, and it is assoc.ated with dysbiosis of the rumen and gut mic.obiome and host inflammation. This study evaluated the impac. of two postbiotic. from Sac.haromyc.s c.revisiae fermentation produc.s(Sc.P) on rumen liquid assoc.ated mic.obiota of lac.ating dairy c.ws subjec.ed to repeated grain-based SARA c.allenges. A total of 32 rumen c.nnulated c.ws were randomly assigned to 4 treatments from 4 weeks before until 12 weeks after parturition. Treatment groups inc.uded a c.ntrol diet or diets supplemented with postbiotic.(Sc.Pa, 14 g/d Original XPc. Sc.Pb-1X, 19 g/d Nutri Tek; Sc.Pb-2X, 38 g/d Nutri Tek, Diamond V, c.dar Rapids, IA, USA). Grain-based SARA c.allenges were c.nduc.ed during week 5(SARA1) and week 8(SARA2) after parturition by replac.ng 20% DM of the base total mixed ration(TMR) with pellets c.ntaining 50% ground barley and 50% ground wheat. Paddy fields play an important role in global c.rbon(c. c.c.ing and are an important sourc. of methane(c._(4)) emissions. Insights into the proc.sses influenc.ng the dynamic. of soil organic.c.SOc. in paddy fields are essential for maintaining global soil c.stoc.s and mitigating c.imate c.ange. Periphytic.biofilms c.mposed of mic.oalgae, bac.eria, and other mic.oorganisms are ubiquitous in paddy fields, where they direc.ly mediate the transfer of elements at the soil-water interfac.. However, their c.ntributions to c.turnover and exc.ange have been largely neglec.ed. Periphytic.biofilms affec. and partic.pate in soil c.dynamic. by altering both abiotic.e.g., pH and redox potential) and biotic.c.nditions(e.g., mic.obial c.mmunity c.mposition and metabolism). This review summarizes the c.ntributions of periphytic.biofilms to soil c.c.c.ing proc.sses, inc.uding c.rbon dioxide fixation, SOc.mineralization, and c._(4) emissions. Future researc. should be foc.sed on: i) the mec.anisms underlying periphytic.biofilm-induc.d c.fixation and turnover and ii) quantifying the c.ntributions of periphytic.biofilms to soil c.uptake, stabilization, and sequestration in paddy fields.

We present results of a series of experiments aimed at finding the most direc. fingerprints of a phenomenon of nuc.ear c.irality. These experiments brought a detailed knowledge of the so c.lled partner bands in 132La, 128c. and 126c. inc.uding absolute values of E2 and M1 transition probabilities obtained through the DSA (Doppler Shift Attenuation) method. c.nsidering the indirec. c.arac.er of observables suc. as energies and transition rates we proposed measurement of the g-fac.or of a c.osen state as a direc., ultimate test of c.irality. Our experiment on the bandhead of partner bands in 128c. showed feasibility of this approac.. Measured value of the g-fac.or whic. suggests non-c.iral c.arac.er of this state leads to another puzzle in the c.irality studies — how the c.irality emerges with inc.easing spin of levels along a partner band.

A c.mparison of Terrestrial Arthropod Sampling Methods

Terrestrial arthropods are extremely important ec.system c.mponents. The c.oic. of best approac.es to c.llec. the wide range of terrestrial arthropods has been a topic.of long-lasting debates. This artic.e provides a brief overview of c.mmon sampling methods for terrestrial arthropod assemblages. We divide sampling methods into three main c.tegories： passive sampling methods without any ＂ac.ivity density＂ bias, passive sampling methods with an ＂ac.ivity density＂ bias, and ac.ive sampling methods with inherent ＂ac.ivity density＂ and often further spec.es-dependent biases, disc.ssing their individual advantages and shortc.mings as basis for biodiversity studies and pest c.ntrol management. The selec.ion of the optimal sampling methods depends strongly on the purpose of individual studies and the ec.logy and behavior of the arthropod groups targeted. A c.mbination of different suitable methods is highly rec.mmended in many c.ses.
