Animal she.te.s’ adoption proce.se. vary across the.US. Some.programs have.rigorous policy base. programs in which pote.tial adopte.s are.scre.ne. in or out base. on the.r re.ponse. to a se.ie. of qualifying que.tions. Some.othe. organizations use.a conve.sation base. approach with-out policie. around such things as income. vaccination status of animals in the.home.and landlord approval. Those.organizations that use.the.policy-base. approach do so with the.pre.ise.that the.animal will be.love. and care. for be.te. by those.that me.t the.r crite.ia. Policy base. adoptions can be.arduous and can de.re.se.adoptions, as, for e.ample. those.living in apartme.ts that are.unable.to prove.the.r landlord acce.ts pe.s are.turne. away. We.hypothe.ize. that me.ting or not me.ting policy base. crite.ia would have.no impact on the.care.or bond of the.adopte. with the.pe.. This study e.amine. the.quality of care.and attachme.t in two groups of adopte.s, a group that adopte. while.policy base. adoptions we.e.in place.and a group that adopte. whe. policie. we.e.e.iminate.. The.e.we.e.no substantial diffe.e.ce. be.we.n the.two groups. This important finding indicate. that those.that adopt through conve.sation base. adoptions (policy-fre.) provide.similar high quality care.and are.just as like.y to be.highly bonde. to the.r pe. as those.that adopt through policy base. adoptions.
