Multiple Myeloma(MM)is a common haematological malignancy that is associated.with a high rate of venous thromboembolism(VTE)with almost 10% of patients suffering thrombosis d.ring their d.sease *** stud.es have shown that,d.spite current thromboprophylaxis strategies,VTE rates in MM remain d.sappointingly *** pathophysiology behind.this consistently high rate of VTE is likely multifactorial.A number of factors such as anti-thrombin d.ficiency or raised.coagulation Factor VIII levels may confer resistance to heparin in these patients,however,the optimal method.of clinically evaluating this is unclear at present,though some groups have attempted.its characterisation with thrombin generation testing(TGT).In ad.ition to testing for heparin resistance,TGT in patients with MM has shown marked.y varied.abnormalities in both end.genous thrombin potential and.serum thrombomod.lin *** from these thrombin-med.ated.processes,other mechanisms potentially contributing to thromboprophylaxis failure includ. activated.protein C resistance,end.thelial toxicity second.ry to chemotherapy agents,tissue factor abnormalities and.the effect of immunoglobulins/“M-proteins”on both the end.thelium and.on fibrin fibre *** thus appears clear that there are a multitud. of factors contributing to the prothrombotic milieu seen in MM and.further work is necessitated.to elucid.te which factors may d.rectly affect and.inhibit response to anticoagulation and.which factors are contributing in a broad.r fashion to the hypercoagulability phenotype observed.in these patients so that effective thromboprophylaxis strategies can be employed.

＜正＞High-resolution seismic reflections have been used.effectively to investigate sinkholes formed.from the d.ssolution of a bed.ed.salt unit found.throughout most of central Kansas. Surface subsid.nce can have d.vastating effects on transportation structures. Road. and.rails, brid.es, and.pipelines can be ad.ersely affected.by even minor ground.instability. Areas susceptible to rapid.surface subsid.nce represent a potential risk to public safety. Significantly larger subsurface expressions relative to surface d.pressions are a consistent observation on seismic images record.d.over sinkholes in Kansas. It appears until subsid.nce reaches the ground.surface, failure is controlled.by faults with reverse orientation. Once a surface d.presssion begins to form and.d.ssolution of the salt slows or stops, subsid.nce along rock layers manifests itself with a more normal fault geometry. d.tecting areas of rapid.subsid.nce potential, pre-surface failure, is the ultimate goal of any geotechnical survey where the ground.surface is susceptible to settling. Seismic reflection images have helped.correlate present subsid.nce to paleofeatures, project the total horizontal growth of active sinkholes, and.appraise the risk of catastrophic failure. It is likely active d.ssolution and.the associated.fluid.movement within the salt interval correlates to collapse geometries observed.in salt overburd.n rocks. Geologic structures play a significant role in both controlling sinkhole expansion and.in the susceptibility for sinkholes to form in areas above the Hutchinson Salt in Kansas.

The controlled.etching of graphite and.graphene by catalytic hyd.ogenation is potentially a key engineering route for the fabrication of graphene nanoribbons with atomic *** hyd.ogenation mechanism,though,remains poorly *** this stud. we exploit the benefi ts of aberration-corrected.high-resolution transmission electron microscopy to gain insight to the hyd.ogenation *** etch tracks are found.to be commensurate with the graphite *** particles at the head.of an etch channel are shown to be faceted.and.the angles between facets are multiples of 30°.Thus,the angles between facets are also commensurate with the graphite *** ad.ition,the results of a post-annealing step suggest that all catalyst particles even if they are not involved.in etching are actively forming methane d.ring the hyd.ogenation ***,the d.ta point against carbon d.ssolution being a key mechanism d.ring the hyd.ogenation process.

The problem of unstead. oscillatory flow and.heat transfer of porous med.n sand.iched.between viscous fluid. has been consid.red.through a horizontal channel with isothermal wall temperatures. The flow in the porous med.um is mod.led.using the Brinkman equation. The governing partial d.fferential equations are transformed.to ord.nary d.fferential equations by collecting the non-period.c and.period.c terms. Closed.form solutions for each region are found.after applying the bound.ry and.interface cond.tions. The influence of physical parameters, such as the porous parameter, the frequency parameter, the period.c frequency parameter, the viscosity ratios, the cond.ctivity ratios, and.the Prand.l number, on the velocity and.temperature field. is computed.numerically and.presented.graphically. In ad.ition, the numerical values of the Nusselt number at the top and.bottom walls are d.rived.and.tabulated.
