Objective: Vascular anomalies are a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. errors in diagnosis lead to treatment delay, inappropriate interventions and prolonged suffering. The aim of this study was to analyze patterns of misdiagnosis among patients referred to a vascular anomalies center (VAC). This will better define the problem and may be used to refine and improve referral guidelines for patients with vascular anomalies. Patients and Methods: After IRB approval, we performed a single-center retrospective review of all patients referred to a vascular anomaly between January 1, 2008 and December 15, 2011. evaluation of both referral and final diagnosis was made. Data regarding accuracy of diagnosis were determined and compared for both vascular tumors and malformations. Results: Mean age was 7.9 ± 7.7 (13 days - 66 years). 42% had a correct diagnosis at the time of referral. Vascular tumors were correctly diagnosed more often than vascular malformations (58% vs 38%). The most common misdiagnosis for infantile hemangioma (IH) was venous malformation (VM). The most common misdiagnosis for VM was IH. Nonspecific and historical terms such as “mass”, “lymphangioma”, and “cavernous hemangioma” frequently appear as the referral diagnosis. Conclusion: Referral misdiagnosis is common. IH and VM are frequently confused and if there is any uncertainty in the diagnosis, these patients should also be referred to a VAC, in addition to the more complicated anomalies. Outdated nomenclature remains prevalent and continued efforts should be made to adhere to International society for the study of Vascular Anomalies (IssVA) classification. Improvements in diagnostic accuracy are likely to greatly improve patients’ care.

The market success of perennial ryegrass(Lolium perenne L.) cultivars depends on sufficient seed production, as they are propagated by seed. However, breeding for high quality forage production reduces seed yield, and breaking the negative correlation would help to overcome the problem. The foliar disease crown rust is another factor affecting reproductive capacity and thereby seed yield. We evaluated seed yield-related traits and resistance to crown rust in a collection of commercial cultivars and ecotypes of perennial ryegrass and identified genome-wide markers associated with the traits. The study revealed high variation between the ecotype and cultivar groups as well as between years. A genome-wide association study identified 17 DNA single-nucleotide polymorphisms(sNPs) of which eight were associated with crown rust and nine with flag-leaf length. The sNP markers were located within or near predicted genes functioning in defense against pathogens. The identified genes are strong candidates for a further in-depth functional study to continue unravel determination of leaf architecture and crown rust resistance in perennial ryegrass.

Great efforts have been made by using deep neural networks to recognize multi-label *** multi-label image classification is very complicated,many studies seek to use the attention mechanism as a kind of guidance. Conventional attention-based methods always analyzed images directly and aggressively, which is difficult to well understand complicated scenes. We propose a global/local attention method that can recognize a multi-label image from coarse to fine by mimicking how human-beings observe images. Our global/local attention method first concentrates on the whole image, and then focuses on its local specific objects. We also propose a joint max-margin objective function, which enforces that the minimum score of positive labels should be larger than the maximum score of negative labels horizontally and vertically. This function further improve our multi-label image classification method. We evaluate the effectiveness of our method on two popular multi-label image datasets(i.e., Pascal VOC and Ms-COCO). Our experimental results show that our method outperforms state-of-the-art methods.

Objective： The aseptic loosening of the implants is the main contributor to the long-term failure of hip arthroplasty. One of the alternatives is to choose ceramic head instead of the traditional CoCr head. This study is conducted to determine the clinical efficacy of a zirconia ceramic head. Methods： Twenty-six cemenfless total hip arthroplasties in 24 patients were performed using a zirconia head coupled with polyethylene. All hips were followed for an average of 9 years （range, 6-13 years）. A matched group of 26 hips in 26 patients using cobalt-chrome heads coupled with polyethylene were also followed for average of 10 years （range, 5-14 years）. The two groups of patients were evaluated clinically and radiographically respectively. Results： The average scores of functional hip according to Harris standard improved from 46 （preoperatively） to 86 （ at the final follow-up） in the Zirconia group, and from 50 to 88 in the CrCo group. The mean liner wear rate of zirconia-polyethylene coupling was 0.118 mm/year （range, 0.064-0. 175 mm/year）, and the linear wear rate of CrCo-polyethylene was 0.113 mm/year （range, 0.056-0.190 mm/year）. There were 10 hips （27%） revised due to loosening or extensive osteolysis of *** in the Zirconia group, and only 4 hips （11.5%） in CrCo group. Conclusion： Results of the study suggest that a zirconia ceramic femoral head has little advantage over a cobalt-chrome head in decreasing polyethylene wear in vivo. Our study demonstrates that although changes in designs and materials may offer theoretical advantages over current components, their effects remain questionable in vivo.
