Innovation in the services area - especially in the electronic services （e-services） dom.in - can be system.tically developed by first considering the strategic drivers and foci, then the tactical principles and enablers, and finally the operational decision attributes, all of which constitute a process or calculus of services innovation. m.re specifically, there are four custom.r drivers （i.e., collaboration, custom.zation, integration and adaptation）, three business foci （i.e., creation-focused, solution-focused and com.etition-focused）, six business principles （i.e., reconstruct m.rket boundaries, focus on the big picture not num.ers, reach beyond existing dem.nd, get strategic sequence right, overcom. organizational hurdles and build execution into strategy）, eight technical enablers （i.e., software algorithm., autom.tion, telecom.unication, collaboration, standardization, custom.zation, organization, and globalization）, and six attributes of decision inform.tics （i.e., decision-driven, inform.tion-based, real-tim., continuously-adaptive, custom.r-centric and com.utationally-intensive）. It should be noted that the four custom.r drivers are all directed at em.owering the individual - that is, at recognizing that the individual can, respectively, contribute in a collaborative situation, receive custom.zed or personalized attention, access an integrated system.or process, and obtain adaptive real-tim. or just-in-tim. input. The developed process or calculus serves to identify the potential white spaces or blue oceans for innovation. In addition to expanding on current innovations in services and related experiences, white spaces are identified for possible future innovations; they include those that can m.tigate the unforeseen consequences or abuses of earlier innovations, safeguard our rights to privacy, protect us from.the always-on, interconnected world, provide us with an authoritative search engine, and generate a GDP m.tric that can adequately m.asure the gro

Background:Despite advances in the diagnosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinom.(HCC),70%-80%of patients are diagnosed with advanced stage *** vein tum.r throm.us(PVTT)is am.ng the m.st om.nous signs of advanced stage disease and has been associated with poor survival if *** sources:A system.tic search of m.DLINE(Pubm.d),Em.ase,Cochrane Library and Database for System.tic Reviews(CDSR),Google Scholar,and National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence(NICE)databases until Decem.er 2022 was conducted using free text and m.SH term.:hepatocellular carcinom.,portal vein tum.r throm.us,portal vein throm.osis,vascular invasion,liver and/or hepatic resection,liver transplantation,and system.tic ***:Centers of surgical excellence have reported prom.sing results related to the individualized surgical m.nagem.nt of portal throm.us versus arterial chem.em.olization or system.c *** elem.nts to the individualized surgical m.nagem.nt of HCC and portal throm.us include precise classification of the portal vein tum.r throm.us,accurate identification of the subgroups of patients who m.y benefit from.resection,as well as m.ticulous surgical *** review addressed five specific areas:(a)form.tion of PVTT;(b)classifications of PVTT;(c)controversies related to clinical guidelines;(d)surgical treatm.nts versus non-surgical approaches;and(e)characterization of surgical techniques correlated with classifications of ***:Current evidence from.Chinese and Japanese high-volum. centers dem.nstrated that patients with HCC and associated PVTT can be m.naged with surgical resection with acceptable results.

The im.ortance of the services sector can not be overstated; it em.loys 82.1 percent of the U. S. workforce and 69 percent of graduates from.an exam.le technological university. Yet, university research and education have not followed suit. Clearly, services research and education deserve our critical attention and support since services - and services innovation - serve as an indispensable engine for global econom.c growth. The them. of this paper is that we can and should build services research and education on what has occurred in m.nufacturing research （especially in regard to custom.zation and intellectual property） and education; indeed, services and m.nufactured goods becom. indistinguishable as they are jointly co-produced in real-tim.. Fortunately, inasm.ch as m.nufacturing concepts, m.thodologies and technologies have been developed and refined over a long period of tim. （i.e., since the 1800s）, the com.lem.ntary set of concepts, m.thodologies and technologies for services are m.re obvious. However, while new technologies （e.g., the Internet） and globalization trends have served to enable, if not facilitate, services innovation, the sam. technologies （e.g., the Internet） and 21st Century realities （e.g., terrorism. are m.king services innovation a far m.re com.lex problem.and, in fact, m.y be underm.ning previous innovations in both services and m.nufacturing. Finally, there is a need to define a ＂knowledge-adjusted＂ GDP m.tric that can m.re adequately m.asure the growing knowledge econom., one driven by intangible ideas and services innovation.

A case is m.de for further developing a branch of system. engineering that focuses on problem. and issues which arise in the service sector. We prom.lgate this special focus not only because of the size and im.ortance of the service sector but also because of the unique opportunities that system. engineering can exploit in the design and joint production and delivery of services. We begin by considering the econom.c, technological and dem.graphic contexts within which the service sector has flourished; we then address both services, especially em.rging services, and system. engineering, followed by a discussion of how to advance the field of service system. engineering, and concluding with several rem.rks. In particular, a num.er of service system. engineering m.thods are identified to enhance the design and production/delivery of services, especially taking advantage of the unique features that characterize services - nam.ly, services, especially em.rging services, are inform.tion-driven, custom.r-centric, e-oriented, and productivity-focused.

Tuberculosis(TB)rem.ins a huge global healthcare challenge even in the 21^(st) century though the prevalence has dropped in developed countries in recent *** m.llitus(Dm.is an im.ortant risk factor for the developm.nt and perpetuation of TB owing to the im.une dysfunction in patients with *** coexistence of both diseases in the sam. individual also aggravates disease severity,com.lications,and chance of treatm.nt failure because of gross im.une alterations posed by Dm.as well as *** com.lex cellular and hum.ral im.unological factors are involved in the dangerous interaction between TB and Dm.som. of which rem.in unknown even *** is highly im.ortant to identify the risk factors for TB in patients with Dm.and vice versa,to ensure early diagnosis and m.nagem.nt to prevent com.lications from.this om.nous *** their research study published in the recent issue of the World Journal of Diabetes,Shi et al elaborate on the factors associated with the developm.nt of TB in a large cohort of Dm.patients from.*** such research output from.different regions of the world is expected to im.rove our knowledge to fight the health devastation posed by TB in patients with diabetes.

Diabetic cardiom.opathy(DbCm.is a com.on but underrecognized com.lication of patients with diabetes m.llitus(Dm..Although the pathobiology of other cardiac com.lications of diabetes such as ischem.c heart disease and cardiac autonom.c neuropathy are m.stly known with reasonable therapeutic options,the m.chanism. and m.nagem.nt options for DbCm.are still not fully *** its early stages,DbCm.presents with diastolic dysfunction followed by heart failure(HF)with preserved ejection fraction that can progress to systolic dysfunction and HF with reduced ejection fraction in its advanced stages unless appropriately *** from.prom.t control of Dm.with lifestyle changes and antidiabetic m.dications,disease-m.difying therapy for DbCm.includes prom.t control of hypertension and dyslipidem.a inherent to patients with Dm.as in other form. of heart diseases and the use of treatm.nts with proven efficacy in HF.A basic study by Zhang et al,in a recent issue of the World Journal of Diabetes elaborates the potential pathophysiological alterations and the therapeutic role of teneligliptin in diabetic m.use m.dels with *** this prelim.nary basic study m.ght help to im.rove our understanding of DbCm.and offer a potential new m.nagem.nt option for patients with the disease,the positive results from.such anim.l m.dels m.ght not always translate to clinical practice as the pathobiology of DbCm.in hum.ns could be ***,such experim.ntal studies can encourage m.re scientific efforts to find a better solution to treat patients with this enigm.tic disease.

Despite the advent of relatively reliable m.dalities of diagnosing diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN),such as nerve conduction studies,there is still a knowledge gap about the pathophysiology,and thus lim.ted available in-terventions for sym.tom.control and curtailing disease *** pharm.-cologic aspect of m.nagem.nt is m.inly centred on pain control,however,there are several im.ortant aspects of DPN such as loss of vibration sense,pressure sense,and proprioception which are associated with risks to lower lim. health,which pharm.cotherapy does not ***,published evidence suggests non-pharm.cologic interventions such as glycaem.c control through dietary m.dification and exercise need to be com.ined with other m.asures such as psychotherapy,to reach a desired,however m.dest *** is em.rging as an im.ortant treatm.nt m.dality for several chronic m.dical conditions including neuropathic and other pain *** their study published in the World Journal of Diabetes on the potential of acupuncture to reduce DPN sym.tom. and enhance nerve conduction param.ters,Hoerder et al have been able to dem.nstrate that acupuncture im.roves sensory function and that this effect is likely sustained two m.nths after treatm.nt *** previous studies also support these findings,larger m.lti-center random.zed control trials including a sham.controlled arm.accounting for a placebo effect are ***,given the satisfactory safety profile and the positive results found in these studies,it is likely that acupuncture m.y becom. an im.ortant aspect of the repertoire of effective DPN m.nagem.nt.
