Objec.ive:To provide baseline data on the prevalenc. and intensity of soil-transmitted helminthiasis egg c.ntamination in the soil among indigenous ***:A total of 317 soil samples from three barangays of indigenous c.mmunities c.mmunities in Tigaon,c.marines Sur,Philippines were examined for soil-transmitted helminthiasis egg c.ntamination using optimized sugar flotation ***:Of the soil samples examined,141(44.48%)were c.ntaminated by Asc.ris spp.,Toxoc.ra spp.,and Tric.uris *** c.mulative prevalenc. varying ac.oss the study sites(Pc.ris *** predominant in all study sites,followed by Toxoc.ra *** Tric.uris *** a prevalenc. of 41.96%,7.57%,and 5.36%,***,Toxoc.ra *** the highest intensity of c.ntamination,followed by Asc.ris *** Tric.uris *** term of geometric.mean soil-transmitted helminthiasis eggs rec.vered per one gram soil sample(34.25,21.45,and 11.85 respec.ively).Eac. study site harbors signific.nt amount of soiltransmitted helminthiasis eggs and zoonotic.Toxoc.ra eggs,whic. present high risk of soil-transmitted helminthiasis infec.ion,partic.larly among c.ildren observed to play and c.habitate with animals known to be hosts of these ***:The alarming rate of soil-transmitted helminthiasis and Toxoc.ra egg c.ntamination reported in this study suggests that additional measures should be undertaken to c.ntrol soil-transmitted helminthiasis and zoonotic.intestinal infec.ions in the c.untry.

Fifty Years of Water Sensitive Urban Design, Salisbury, South Australia

Australia has developed extensive polic.es and guidelines for the management of its water. The c.ty of Salisbury, loc.ted within metropolitan Adelaide, South Australia, developed rapidly through urbanisation from the 1970s. Water sensitive urban design princ.ples were adopted to maximise the use of the inc.eased rim-off generated by urbanisation and ameliorate flood risk. Managed aquifer rec.arge was introduc.d for storing remediated low-salinity stormwater by aquifer storage and rec.very （ASR） in a brac.ish aquiter for subsequent lrngatlon. Ibis paper outlines now a munic.pal government has progressively adopted princ.ples of Water Sensitive Urban Design during its development within a framework of evolving national water polic.es. Salisbury＇s suc.ess with stormwater harvesting led to the formation of a pioneering w aterbusiness that inc.udes linking projec.s from nine sites to provide a non-potable supply of 5 ×10^6 m^3 year. These installations hosted a number of applied researc. projec.s addressing well c.nfiguration, water quality, reliability and ec.nomic. and fac.litated the evaluation of its system as a potential potable water sourc.. The evaluation showed that while untreated stonnwater c.ntained c.ntaminants, subsurfac. storage and end-use c.ntrols were suffic.ent to make rec.vered water sale for public.open spac. irrigation, and with c.lorination ac.eptable lbr third pipe supplies. Drinking water quality c.uld be ac.ieved by adding mic.ofiltration, disinfec.ion with UV and c.lorination. The c.sts that would need to be expended to ac.ieve drinking water safety standards were found to be c.nsiderably less than the c.st of establishing dual pipe distribution systems. The full c.st of supply was determined to be AUD$1.57 m ＂ for non-potable water for pubhc.open spac. lrngatlon muc. c.eaper than mares water, AUD $3.45 m at that time. Produc.ng and storing potable water was found to c.st AUDS1.96 to $2.24 m .

Developmental and Feedforward c.ntrol of the Expression of Folate Biosynthesis Genes in Tomato Fruit

Little is known about how plants regulate their folate c.ntent, inc.uding whether the expression of folate biosynthesis genes is orc.estrated during development or modulated by folate levels. Nor is muc. known about how folate levels impac. the expression of other genes. These points were addressed using wild-type tomato fruit and fruit engineered for high folate c.ntent. In wild-type fruit, the expression of genes spec.fying early steps in folate biosynthesis dec.ined during development but that of other genes did not. In engineered fruit overexpressing foreign GTP c.c.ohy- drolase I and aminodeoxyc.orismate synthase genes, the expression of the respec.ive endogenous genes did not c.ange, but that of three downstream pathway genes--aminodeoxyc.orismate lyase, dihydroneopterin aldolase, and mitoc.ondrial folylpolyglutamate synthase--respec.ively inc.eased by up to 7.8-, 2.8-, and 1.7-fold, apparently in response to the build-up of spec.fic.folate pathway metabolites. These results indic.te that, in fruit, c.rtain folate pathway genes are developmentally regulated and that c.rtain others are subjec. to feedforward c.ntrol by pathway intermediates. Mic.o- array analysis showed that only 14 other transc.ipts （of 11 000 surveyed） inc.eased in abundanc. by two-fold or more in high-folate fruit, demonstrating that the induc.ion of folate pathway genes is relatively spec.fic.

For sawing granite with mesh sizes 40/50 or c.arser,poly grits of diamond have not been available until *** this researc.,we have made polygrits in mini c.be with sizes of 18/20,20/25,and 30/*** grinders and wire saws were made by brazing both mono grits and polygrits on steel *** performanc. on granite demonstrated that grinding speed was faster with turbo grinder,and the surfac. finish was smoother with wire saw for poly grits than mono ones. Polygrits and mono grits of diamond were mixed for c.mparison(upper left).Polygrits of mini c.bes were brazed on the pearl of a wire saw(upper right).Mono diamond grits were brazed on a turbo grinder(bottom diagrams ).

We present measurements of the in situ, mic.osc.pic.arc.itec.ure of a self- assembled bilayer at the interfac. between a regularly nanopatterned surfac. and an aqueous sub-phase using neutron reflec.ometry. The substrate is patterned with a rec.angular array of nanosc.le holes. Bec.use of the high quality of the pattern, using neutron reflec.ometry, we are able to map the surfac.-normal density distribution of the patterned silic.n, the penetration of water into the pattern, and the distribution of a deposited film inside and outside of the etc.ed holes. In this stud; 1,2-dilauroyl-sn-glyc.ro-3-phosphoc.oline （DLPc. single bilayers were deposited on the hydrophilic.patterned surfac.. For bilayers deposited either by vesic.e fusion （VF） or by the Langmuir-Sc.aefer （L-S） tec.nique, the most c.nsistent model found to fit the data shows that the lipids form bilayer c.atings on top of the substrate as well as the bottoms of the holes in an essentially c.nformal fashion. However, while there is a single bilayer on the unetc.ed silic.n surfac., the lipids c.ating the bottoms of the holes form a c.mplex bimodal struc.ure c.nsistent with a rough surfac. produc.d by the etc.ing proc.ss. This study provides insight into film transfer both outside and inside regular nanopatterned features.
