Therapeutic role of Ricinus communis L. and its bioactive compounds in disease prevention and treatment

Ricinus communis L.(R. communis), commonly known as castor oil plant, is used as a traditional natural remedy or folkloric herb for the control and treatment of a wide range of diseases around the globe. Various studies have revealed the presence of diverse phytochemicals such as ***, terpenes, saponins,phenolic compounds such as kaempferol, gallic acid, ricin, rutin, lupeol, ricinoleic acid, pinene, thujone and gentisic *** phytochemicals have been responsible for pharmacological and therapeutic effects,including anticancer, antimicrobial, insecticidal, antioxidant, anti-diabetic, antinociceptive,anti-inflammatory. bone regenerative, analgesic, and anticonvulsant activity. R. communis harbours phytochemicals which have been shown to target peroxisome proliferator activated receptor(PPAR), nuclear factor NF-κ-B, cytochrome p450, P38 mitogen-activated protein kinases kinase(p38 mAPK), tumor protein P53, B-cell lymphoma-extra-large(Bcl-xL) and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2(VEGFR-2). Considering its wide variety of phytochemicals, its pharmacological activity and the subsequent clinical trials, R. communis could be a good candidate for discovering novel complementary drugs. Further experimental and advanced clinical studies are required to explore the pharmaceutical, beneficial therapeutic and safety prospects of R. communis with its phytochemicals as a herbal and complementary medicine for combating various diseases and disorders.

Food habits of striped hyena(Hyaena hyaena) in a semi-arid conservation area of India

striped hyena（Hyaena hyaena） is a near-threatened large carnivore known to occur in arid and semi-arid landscapes in many parts of the world. Its population is declining globally and ecological information is required urgently to meet their conservation needs. We studied the diet pattern of the striped hyena in the semi-arid Gir National Park and sanctuary（GNPs）, western India. Prey items eaten by the striped hyena were identified from scats. Around 44.4% scats represented single to three mammalian preys while 55.6% of them represented four preys to seven preys. A variety of food items were identified including mammals, birds, insects and vegetable matters. scats analysis showed that 63.91% diet of striped hyena was contributed by wild prey items, 20.94% by domestic prey and 3.31% by birds, whereas vegetable and insects contributed 9.92% and 1.93%, respectively. Diet diversity of the striped hyena computed by the shannon-Weiner Index（H） was found to be 2.64. The presence of domestic mammals in the scat remains implied that the striped hyena might frequently visit human habitation in search for food and hence, a potential conflict between human and wildlife might arise. Reducing the dependence of hyena on domestic livestock is a challenge to ensure the survival of striped hyena outside the protected area.

Bandgap engineering to tune the optical properties of Be_xmg_(1-x)X(X=s, se, Te) alloys

structural, electronic, and optical properties of alloys Bexmgl-xX （X = s, se, Te） in the assortment 0 〈 x 〈 1 were theoretically reported for the first time in zinc-blende （ZB） phase. The calculations were carried out by using full-potential linearized augmented plane wave plus local orbitals （FP-LAPW＋lo） formalism contained by the framework of density functional theory （DFT）. Wu--Cohen （WC） generalized gradient approximation （GGA）, based on optimization energy, has been applied to calculate these theoretical results. In addition, we used Becke and Johnson （mBJ-GGA） potential, modified form of GGA functional, to calculate electronic structural properties up to a high precision degree. The alloys were composed with the concentrations x = 0.25, 0.5, and 0.75 in pursuance of ＇special quasi-random structures＇（sQs） approach of Zunger for the restoration of disorder around the observed site of alloys in the first few shells. The structural parameters have been predicted by minimizing the total energy in correspondence of unit cell volume. Our alloys established direct band gap at different concentrations that make their importance in optically active materials. Furthermore, density of states was discussed in terms of the contribution of Be and mg s and chalcogen （s, se, and Te） s and p states and observed charge density helped us to investigate the bonding nature. By taking into consideration of immense importance in optoelectronics of these materials, the complex dielectric function was calculated for incident photon energy in the range 0--15 eV.

Esophageal carcinoma affects more than 450000people worldwide and the incidence is rapidly *** the United states and Europe,esophageal adenocarcinoma has superseded esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in its *** cancer has a high mortality rates secondary to the late presentation of most patients at advanced *** screening is recommended for patients with multiple risk factors for cancer in Barrett’s *** risk factors include chronic gastroesophageal reflux disease,hiatal hernia,advanced age,male sex,white race,cigarette smoking,and *** annual risk of esophageal cancer is approximately 0.25%for patients without dysplasia and 6%for patients with high-grade *** percent of all esophageal adenocarcinoma in the United states is early stage with disease confined to the mucosa or *** significant morbidity and mortality of esophagectomy make endoscopic treatment an attractive *** American Gastroenterological Association recommends endoscopic eradication therapy for patients with high-grade *** modalities for treatment of early esophageal adenocarcinoma include endoscopic resection techniques and endoscopic ablative techniques such as radiofrequency ablation,photodynamic therapy and *** therapy should be precluded to patients with no evidence of lymphovascular *** tumor recurrence is low after endoscopic therapy and is predicted by poor differentiation of tumor,positive lymph node and submucosal *** resection should be offered to patients with deep submucosal invasion.

Volumetric,Viscometric and Refractive Index Behaviors of α-Amino Acids in Aqueous Caffeine solution at Varying Temperatures

measurements of density(ρ), viscosity(η), and refractive index(n), were carried out on α-amino acids, DL-alanine (Ala), D-phenylalanine (Phe), and DL-threonine (Thr) (0.01-0.05 mol·L-1), in 0.05 mol·L-1 aqueous caffeine solution at 298.15, 303.15, 308.15, and 313.15 K. These measurements have been carried out to evaluate some important parameters, viz., apparent molar volume (фυ), partial molar volume (фυ0v), transfer volume (фυ0v(tr)), viscosity A and B coefficients of Jones-Dole equation, free energies of activation per mole of solvent (Δμ0#1) and solute (Δμ0#2), enthalpies (ΔH) and entropies (Δs) of activation of viscous flow, variation of B with temperature (αB/αT)P, and molar refractive index (RD). These parameters have been interpreted in terms of solute-solute and solute-solvent interactions and structure making/breaking ability of solutes in the given solution.

Accelerated life testing has been widely used in product life testing experiments because it can quickly provide information on the lifetime distributions by testing products or materials at higher than basic conditional levels of stress,such as pressure,temperature,vibration,voltage,or load to induce early *** this paper,a step stress partially accelerated life test(ssPALT)is regarded under the progressive type-II censored data with random *** removals from the test are considered to have the binomial *** life times of the testing items are assumed to follow lengthbiased weighted Lomax *** maximum likelihood method is used for estimating the model parameters of length-biased weighted *** asymptotic confidence interval estimates of the model parameters are evaluated using the Fisher information *** Bayesian estimators cannot be obtained in the explicit form,so the markov chain monte Carlo method is employed to address this problem,which ensures both obtaining the Bayesian estimates as well as constructing the credible interval of the involved *** precision of the Bayesian estimates and the maximum likelihood estimates are compared by *** addition,to compare the performance of the considered confidence intervals for different parameter values and sample *** Bootstrap confidence intervals give more accurate results than the approximate confidence intervals since the lengths of the former are less than the lengths of latter,for different sample sizes,observed failures,and censoring schemes,in most ***,the percentile Bootstrap confidence intervals give more accurate results than Bootstrap-t since the lengths of the former are less than the lengths of latter for different sample sizes,observed failures,and censoring schemes,in most *** performance comparison is conducted by the experiments with real data.

synthesis of ***（0.5-x）Fe204 nanoparticles with x=0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 were realized via coprecipitation method. X-ray diffraction （XRD） and vibrating sample magnetometer （Vsm） measurements were performed on the samples to determine the characteristics of the crystal structures and the magnetic properties of the samples, respectively. The spinel phase structures of the samples were confirmed by XRD analysis. Patterns of decreased lattice parameter and increased crystallite size values were observed by increasing the Li concentration at longer synthesis reaction periods. similarly, for the magnetic properties, both the saturation magnetization （ms） and coercivity （Hc） were found to vary with increasing patterns at higher Li doping levels and longer synthesis reaction periods. The results and mechanisms concerned were discussed.

Role of ZnO-CeO_2 Nanostructures as a Photo-catalyst and Chemi-sensor

ZnO-CeO2 nanostructures were synthesized by simple and effcient low temperature method. The structure and morphology of the ZnO-CeO2 nanostructures were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction （XRD） and field emission scanning electron microscopy （FEsEm）, which revealed elongated shaped CeO2 nanoparticles with diameters of 40–90 nm distributed on the surface of elongated ZnO nanostructures with diameters of 50–200 nm （edge–centre）. Further the structure of the synthesized ZnO-CeO2 nanostructure was supported by Raman spectra and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）. UV-vis absorption spectrum was used to confirm the optical properties of the CeO2 doped ZnO nanostructures. Photo-catalytic activity of CeO2 doped ZnO nanostructure was evaluated by degradation of acridine orange and methylene blue which degraded 84.55% and 48.65% in 170 min, respectively. ZnO-CeO2 nanostructures also showed good sensitivity （0.8331 μA·cm-2·（mol/l）-1） in short response time （10 s） by applying to chemical sensing using ethanol as a target compound by I-V technique. These degradation and chemical sensing properties of ZnO-CeO2 nanostructures are of great importance for the application of ZnO-CeO2 system as a photo-catalyst and chemical sensor.

Background:Tuberculosis(TB)is a major health problem in *** study aims at examining trends in TB in morocco and identifying TB spatial clusters and TB-associated ***:Country-level surveillance data was ***’s correlation test was used to examine trends and an exploratory spatial data analysis was conducted to assess the global and local patterns of spatial autocorrelation in TB rates(moran’s I and local indicator of spatial association[LIsA])at the prefecture/province *** including living in a prefecture versus living in a province,annual rainfall,annual mean temperature,population density,and AIDs incidence were *** ordinary least squares regression was thus performed and both spatial dependence and heteroscedasticity were ***:A decrease in TB incidence rate was seen between 1995 and 2014(Kendall’s tau b=−0.72;Pst years)was considered,TB rate remained stable and as high as 84 per 100000 population per year(95%CI:83.7-84.3).The highest incidence rates were seen in Tanger-Assilah,Fez,Tetouen-m’diq Fnidaq,Inezgane Ait melleoul,and *** 2005 to 2014,while TB incidence rate was stable in Fez(P=0.500),Tetouen-m’diq Fnidaq(P=0.300),Casablanca(P=0.500),mohammadia(P=0.146),Al Hoceima(P=0.364),and Guelmim(P=0.242),an increase in TB incidence rate was seen in Tanger-Assilah(Kendall’s tau=0.49;P=0.023)and a decrease in salé(Kendall’s tau b=−0,54;P=0.014)and Inezgane-Ait melloul(Kendall’s tau b=−0,67;P=0.0023).TB is strongly clustered in space(P-values of moran’s Istinct spatial regimes that affect TB spatial clustering were identified(east and west).In the east,both annual rainfall(P=0.003)and AIDs(P=0.0002)exert a statistically significant effect on TB *** the west,only the living area(prefecture versus province)was associated with TB rate(P=0.048).Conclusions:New information on TB incidence and TB-related predictors
