We have developed a wearable system for mobile distributed collaboration called HandsInAir using emerging wireless and mobile technologies. This system was developed to support real world scenarios in which a remote mobile helper guides a local mobile worker in the completion of a physical task. HandsInAir consists of a helper unit and a worker unit. Both units are equipped with wearable devices having the same hardware configuration, but running different pieces of software to support the distinct roles of the collaborators (helper and worker). The two sides are connected via a wireless network and the collaboration partners can communicate with each other via audio and visual links. In this paper we describe the technical implementation of the system and present a preliminary evaluation of it. The paper concludes with a brief discussion of possible future work for further improvements and new developments.

The quality control,validation and verification of the European Flood Alert System(EFAS)are *** is designed as a flood early warning system at pan-European scale,to complement national systems and provide flood warnings more than 2 days before a *** average 2030 alerts per year are sent out to the EFAS partner network which consists of 24 National hydrological authorities responsible for transnational river *** control of the system includes the evaluation of the hits,misses and false alarms,showing that EFAS has more than 50%of the time ***,the skills of both the meteorological as well as the hydrological forecasts are evaluated,and are included here for a 10-year ***,end-user needs and feedback are systematically *** improvements,such as real-time river discharge updating,are currently implemented.

We calculate the enveloping Lie algebras of Leibniz algebras of dimensions two and three. We show how these Lie algebras could be used to distinguish non-isomorphic (nilpotent) Leibniz algebras of low dimension in some cases. These results could be used to associate geometric objects (loop spaces) to low dimensional Leibniz algebras.

Determining thermodynamic and kinetic conditions for natural gas hydrate formation is an interesting subject for many researches. At the present, suitable information including experimental data and the thermodynamic models of hydrate formation are available which predict the thermodynamic conditions of hydrate formation. Conversely, there is no sufficient study about the kinetics of natural gas hydrate and most of experimental data and kinetic models in the literature are incomplete. Artificial Intelligence (AI) having sub-branches such as artificial neural network (ANN), and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) has been proved as a novel tool with acceptable accuracy for modeling of engineering systems. Therefore, this paper aims to investigate the kinetics of hydrate formation by predicting the relationship of growth rate of methane hydrate with temperature and pressure using ANN and ANFIS. This goal can also be achieved by solving complicated governing equations while artificial intelligence provides an easier way to accomplish this goal. The result has shown that ANIFS is a more potential tool in predication relationship of kinetics of hydrate formation with temperature and pressure in comparison of ANN in present work.

The industry of software applications has been increased significantly because of the high demand of using the software applications. This revolution leads on developing many concurrent software systems. Noticeably, some of these concurrent software systems have falsely report data race condition to one or more of their shared variables. Debugging such concurrent software systems to find the race condition is a challenge, especially for large and complex software systems. Since the race condition concerned mostly ignored in the concurrent software systems, adopting it could help to ensure the efficiency of these software systems. There are few detector tools that have been known in the industry focusing on data race detectors. This paper aims to study those tools. We are going to conduct empirical study of data race using well known tools in order to measure the correctness, performances and effectiveness of those tools in practical by using some benchmarks. Those benchmarks will be tested on each tool and compare it with others to see the similarity and differentiate.

AIM: To determine the prevalence of celiac disease (CD) in children with idiopathic short stature (ISS) and the diagnostic value of immunoglobulin (Ig) A G antigliadin antibodies (AGA) and transglutaminase (TTG) antibodies for CD. METHODS: A total of 104 children (49 male, 55 female) with ISS without a specific etiology were studied. Extensive endocrine investigations had shown no abnormalities in any subject. Anthropometric parameters and IgA AGA and IgA TTG antibodies were evaluated in this study group. These antibodies were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. All patients were referred for an endoscopic intestinal biopsy. The biopsy samples were classified according to revised Marsh criteria (UEGW 2001). RESULTS: We detected positive IgA TTG antibodies in 36 and IgA AGA in 35 of these patients. Thirty one IgA TTG antibody positive and 28 IgA AGA positive subjects showed histological abnormalities compatible with celiac disease (33.6%). Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value for IgA AGA were found to be 80%, 88.4%, 77.8% and 89.7%, respectively. Sensitivity, specificity and PPV for IgA TTG antibodies were 88.6%, 94.2% and 88.6%, ***: We conclude that the prevalence of celiac disease is high in patients with ISS and it is important to test all children with ISS for celiac disease by measuring serologic markers and performing an intestinal biopsy.

Pentavalent vanadium (V5+) (metavanadate salt) tox- icity is a challenging problem to the health professionals and has been recognized as an industrial hazard that adversely affects human and animal health, but its cytotoxic mechanisms have not yet been completely understood. In this study, we investigated the cytotoxic mechanisms of V5+ in freshly isolated rat hepatocytes. V5+ cytotoxicity was associated with reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation, collapse of mitochondrial membrane potential, lysosomal membrane rupture and cytochrome c release into the hepatocyte cytosol. All of the above mentioned V5+ -induced cytotoxicity markers were significantly (p 5+ is activated by GSH. Our findings also showed that the lysosomotropic agents prevented V5+ induced mitochondrial membrane potential collapse. On the other hand, mitochondrial MPT pore sealing agents inhibited lysosomal membrane damage caused by V5+. It can therefore be suggested that there is probably a toxic interaction (cross-talk) between mitochondrial and lysosomal oxidative stress generating systems, which potentiates ROS formation and further damages both sub-organelles in V5+-induced induced hepatotoxicity. In conclusion, V5+-induced cytotoxicity can be attributed to oxidative stress started from glutathione mediated metal reductive activation and continued by mitochondrial/lysosomal toxic interaction.

Objective: To determine the incidence of carcinoma in patients with asymmetrical tonsillar enlargement. Study Design: A clinical retrospective case series based on medical records of our medical complex. Results: During a two-year period, 990 patients underwent tonsillectomy at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC). 59 (5.9%) of those patients had asymmetrical enlargement of their tonsils, three of whom had suspicious clinical findings at presentation. The latter were found to have tonsillar malignancy on histopathological testing. Malignancy was excluded in all other specimen. Conclusions: Since the incidence of malignancy in asymmetrical tonsils is negligible in the absence of other associated risk factors, watchful waiting may be appropriate prior to any surgical intervention. Diagnostic tonsillectomy is indicated in patients with asymmetrical tonsillar enlargement with associated suspicious clinical findings, including cervical lymphadenopathy and rapid tonsillar enlargement.
