Members of the Torpedinidae(torpedoes)and Hypnidae(coffin ray)use electric organ discharges(EOD)to stun or kill their prey before *** investigated whether EOD could also negatively affect the helminth larvae infecting these preys through a surrogate model:we applied electric discharges to individuals of blue whiting,Micromesistius poutassou,that harbored live larvae of *** mortality throughout a 6-h period was significantly higher in the treatment group,suggesting that EODs could significantly hamper helminth *** then tested whether torpedinids and hypnids(“strong-EOD”families)harbored species-poor helminth(cestode)assemblages compared with“weak-EOD”Torpediniformes(Narcidae and Narkidae)and other *** on comparisons on estimated species diversity and mean species richness of tapeworms at host individual level we found that(i)Torpediniformes had the lowest tapeworm diversity of all Batoidea orders;(ii)Torpedo *** had the lowest mean cestode richness at host individual level,and this could not be related to other host factors influencing cestode diversity in chondrichthyans,that is body size,trophic level or dietary ***,a preliminary comparison between“strong-EOD”and“weak-EOD”Torpediniformes did not detect clear differences of cestode ***,evidence supporting an unambiguous contribution of EODs to depauperate cestode assemblages requires further research.

Protein misfolding and aggregation into amyloid fibrils is the main pathological hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases,including Alzheimer’s,Parkinson’s,Huntington’s,and prion diseases(Chiti and Dobson,2017).These insoluble fibrillar deposits possess a common structure characterized by a cross-β-sheet conformation in which β-strands run transversely to the fiber axis and form an intermolecular network of hydrogen bonds.

Bovine Herpesvirus-1 （BoHV-1） is a DNA virus belonging to the family Herpesviridae, subfamily Alfaherpesvirinae; it is a worldwide pathogen, causing serious economic losses in livestock. In Colombia there have been multiple isolates of BoHV-1 that have been subjected to molecular characterization, classifying most of the country isolates as BoHV-I.1. In the present study we developed and evaluated an ethyleneimine binary inactivated isolate from the native BoHV-1 strain （C6rdoba-2） in a rabbit model of vaccination and infection. The vaccine was evaluated in two phases, one of immunogenicity with vaccination and a booster after 21 days, and an evaluation phase of protection against challenge with a highly virulent reference strain. The results demonstrate optimum serum-conversion, with protective neutralizing antibody titers 28 days post vaccination and optimal protection against challenge with the reference strain with decreased clinical signs of infection, protection against the onset of fever and decrease of virus excretion post challenge. In conclusion, our results show the enormous potential that an immunogenic inactivated vaccine has produced from the native BoHV-I.1 strain, which produces a high antigen mass to the vaccine to induce optimal immunity and protection, and it is a strong candidate for evaluation and possible future use in different cattle populations.

This paper describes a method for mesh adaptation in the presence of intersections, such as wing-fuselage. Automatic optimization tools, using Computational Fluid Dynamics（CFD） simulations, face the problem to adapt the computational grid upon deformations of the boundary surface. When mesh regeneration is not feasible, due to the high cost to build up the computational grid, mesh deformation techniques are considered a cheap approach to adapt the mesh to changes on the geometry. Mesh adaptation is a well-known subject in the literature; however, there is very little work which deals with moving intersections. Without a proper treatment of the intersections,the use of automatic optimization methods for aircraft design is limited to individual *** proposed method takes advantage of the CAD description, which usually comes in the form of Non-Uniform Rational B-splines（NURBs） patches. This paper describes an algorithm to recalculate the intersection line between two parametric surfaces. Then, the surface mesh is adapted to the moving intersection in parametric coordinates. Finally, the deformation is propagated through the volumetric mesh. The proposed method is tested with the DLR F6 wing-body configuration.

The management of water consumption in healthcare centres can have positive impacts on both the environmental performance and profitability of health *** tools assist in the decision-making process of managing the operation and maintenance of healthcare *** research aimed to integrate the empirical knowledge of experts in Healthcare Engineering and the historical data from 66 healthcare centres in a Fuzzy Cognitive *** outputs of the predictive model included water consumption,water cost,and CO_(2) emissions in healthcare facilities,along with eleven variables to discover the causes and consequences of water consumption in healthcare centres.A healthcare centre with about 12350 users,located in a city that experiences an average of 1100 heating degree days,whose facilities be moderately energy-efficient contributing over 50%with renewable energies is expected to consume 8.4 dam^(3) of water with 32.1 k€of cost,and contribute realising 30.8 ton CO_(2)eq *** use of Fuzzy Cognitive Maps for prediction can provide a high level of effectiveness in identifying the factors that contribute to water consumption and in designing key performance indicators to manage the environmental performance of healthcare *** tool is extremely effective in enhancing the performance of the management division of health systems.

The aim of the work was to analyze and expose the donor and recipient riskfactors in pancreas transplantation. In the following paper, we exposed the 2018spanish Consensus Document on Donor and Recipient selection Criteria forPancreas Transplantation. An assessment of the previous selection Criteria forDonors and Recipients of Pancreas Transplantation, published in 2005 by thespanish Pancreas Transplant Group (GETP) and the National TransplantOrganization (ONT) was performed. A literature review was performed usingCochrane Library, PubMed and Google scholar databases. some of the followingterms were used for the literature search: “Diabetes Mellitus,” “PancreasTransplantation,” “Insulin-secreting Cells,” “Pancreas Allograft Thrombosis,”“Allograft Pancreatitis,” “Donors’ Risk Factors,” “Recipients’ Risk Factors,”“Pancreas Allograft Rejection” and “Pancreas Allograft survival.” After anextended search, different inclusion criteria were established. Articles anddocuments with abstracts of full text and in English or spanish language wereselected. subsequently, different scientific meetings took place during 2015 and2016 by the GETP. Finally, the updated criteria were published by the GETP andONT in 2018. several risk factors have been described in pancreas transplantationthat can be divided into donor risk factors: Advanced age (> 50 years);high bodymass index (BMI) (> 30 kg/m2);cause of death (e.g., stroke);previoushyperglycemia;hyperamylasemia;cold ischemia time (greater than 8 or 12 h,depending on the type of donation);the use of vasopressors in the intensive careunit or cardiac arrest;and the macroscopic aspect of the pancreas allograft. Thefollowing are recipient risk factors: Advanced age (> 50 years);active smoking;high BMI (> 30 kg/m2);and peripheral artery disease or sensorimotorpolyneuropathy. Background:species turnover(β-diversity)along elevational gradients is one of the most important concepts in plant ***,there is a lack of consensus about the main driving mechanisms of treeβ-diversity at local scales in very diverse ecosystems(e.g.,Andean mountains),as well as how the sampling effect can alterβ-diversity ***,it has been hypothesized that patterns of change inβ-diversity at local scales along elevational gradients are driven by sampling effects stemming from differences in the size of the species pool rather than by underlying community assembly ***,we aim to evaluate the relative extent to which sampling effects,such as species pool size,grain size,and tree size cut-off,determine species sorting,and thus,the variability ofβ-diversity at local scales along elevational gradients in the northwest of ***:Using 151-ha permanent plots spread out along a 3000m elevational gradient,we used standardizedβ-deviation to assess the extent to which either sampling effects or the community assembly mechanisms determine the changes in species composition at local ***β-deviation was measured as the difference between the observed and nullβ-diversity divided by the standard deviation of the nullβ-*** found that the magnitude of change in localβ-deviation along the elevational gradient was significant and dependent on the employed spatial grain size and tree size ***,β-deviation increased with elevation in all sampling designs,which suggests that underlying community assembly mechanisms play a key role in shaping localβ-diversity along the elevational ***:Our findings suggest that grain size enlargement and the inclusion of trees with small diameters will improve our ability to quantify the extent to which the community assembly mechanisms shape patterns ofβ-diversity along elevational ***,we emphasize the scale-dependent nature of the assessment o
