Effect of recombinant and native buffalo OVGP1 on sperm functions and in vitro embryo development: a comparative study

Background： An oviduct-specific glycoprotein, OVGP1, is synthesized and secreted by non-ciliated epithelial cells of the mammalian oviduct which provides an essential milieu for reproductive functions. The present study reports the effects of recombinant buffalo OVGP1 that lacks post-translational modifications, and native Buffalo OVGP1 isolated from oviductal tissue, on frozen-thawed sperm functions and in vitro embryo ***： The proportion of viable sperms was greater（P 〈 0.05） in the recombinant OVGP1-treated group compared to the native OVGP1-treated group at 2 h, 3 h, and 4 h of incubation. The proportion of motile sperms at3 h and 4 h of incubation; and membrane-intact sperms at 4 h was greater（P 〈 0.05） in the native OVGP1-treated group compared to the control and recombinant OVGP1-treated groups. The proportion of capacitated and acrosome-reacted sperms was greater（P 〈 0.05） in the native OVGP1-treated group compared to the recombinant OVGP1 group at 4 h. The rates of cleavage of embryos and their development to the blastocyst stage were greater（P 〈 0.05） in the presence of either native or recombinant OVGP1 in comparison to control at 10 μg/mL concentration as compared to 5 or 20 μg/***： The study suggests that both native and recombinant OVGP1 impart a positive effect on various sperm features and in vitro embryo development. However, native OVGP1 was found to have a more pronounced effect in comparison to recombinant non-glycosylated OVGP1 on various sperm functions except viability. Hence,our current findings infer that glycosylation of OVGP1 might be essential in sustaining the sperm functions but not the in vitro embryo development.

锂离子电池(LIBs)因其高工作电压和高能量密度而被公认为是电动汽车(EV)、便携式电子设备和混合电动汽车(HEV)的理想供电来源。其中,以LiFePO4(LFP)为正极的动力电池体系由于寿命长、成本低廉和无毒害的特点,在电动汽车所用电池中占有很大的市场份额。随着电动汽车行业的迅速发展,越来越多的废旧锂离子电池随之产生,这不仅会导致严重的环境问题,还在一定程度上引起人们对固有资源短缺问题的更多担忧。众所周知,锂是重要的战略元素,但其储量不丰、分布不均。在过去的几十年中,日益增长的和极其有限的供应使得锂化合物的成本不断攀升,回收电池行业大量淘汰的废旧锂离子电池对于缓解锂资源短缺和拓展锂资源来源都具有十分重要的意义。本文基于回收废弃锂电池的技术现状,提出了一种在室温下采用天然有机酸的浸出方法,从废弃LiFePO4阴极粉末中回收Li和FePO4。富含柠檬酸和苹果酸等有机酸的柑橘类果汁(CFJs)由于其操作简单、效率较高而被用作浸出剂,主要负责金属离子的浸出。在这项工作中,我们研究了以CFJs为浸出剂从废LiFePO4阴极中选择性回收Li和FePO4的方法。并考察了不同类型柑橘类果汁的浸出影响因素、对应的浸出机理和Li2CO3产物的纯度。此外,我们将回收的FePO4应用于新活性LiFePO4阴极材料的再生,并讨论了新生材料的电化学性能。在此过程中,我们采用配备能量色散X射线光谱仪(EDS)的扫描电子显微镜(SEM),电感耦合等离子体发射光谱(ICP-OES),X射线粉末衍射(XRD)等表征技术用于表征产品的形貌结构、提取液中的金属成分和回收产物的结晶度信息。经过实验分析,我们得出以下结论:在柠檬,橙和苹果中,柠檬汁由于其合适的反应体系pH值显示出最佳的浸出效果。在优化的条件下(包括柠檬汁百分比,反应时间,固液比和过氧化氢量),Li,Cu和Al的浸出率可分别达到94.83%,96.92%和 47.24%,而 Fe 和 P 分别低至 4.05%和 0.84%。Li2CO3 和 FePO4可以分别从浸出液和浸出残渣中回收。回收后的FePO4用于制备新的正极材料LiFePO4,再生的LiFePO4正极材料在0.1 C倍率下的放电容量为155.3 mAh g-1,与工业产品中的磷酸铁锂颇为接近。另外,在1 C下循环100周后依然展示出98.30%的容量保持率,每个循环的衰减率仅为0.017%。综上所述,基于有机酸的策略对于回收废LFP阴极材料具有重要意义,并将为LIB的可持续发展提供无限的助力。

Season modulates endocrinological profiles and sex behavioural characteristics in indigenous male goats under tropical humid island ecosystem

Objective:To measure the seasonal effect on endocrinological profiles and sex behavioural profiles during rainy and dry summer seasons in male Andaman local goat in Andaman and Nicobar Islands,***:Ten adult male Andaman local goats were selected from the goat breeding farm,ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute,Port Blair,Andaman and Nicobar Islands,*** profiles such as follicle stimulating hormone(FSH),luteinizing hormone(LH),testosterone,thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH),triiodothyronine(T3),thyroxine(T4),cortisol and prolactin were analysed with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay *** behavioural profiles such as libido score,mating ability score and sex behavioural score were measured during rainy and dry summer seasons in male Andaman local ***:Endocrinological profiles as well as sex behavioural profiles differed significantly between rainy season and dry summer season(P<0.05).The levels of FSH,LH,testosterone,TSH,T3,and T4 were significantly higher in rainy season than in dry summer season whereas cortisol and prolactin were significantly higher in dry summer season than in rainy season(P<0.05).The ratio of T3:T4 was significantly higher in rainy season than in dry summer ***,libido score,mating ability score and sex behavioural score were significantly higher in rainy season than in dry summer season(P<0.05).Conclusions:Rainy season has significantly higher beneficial effects than summer season on reproduction and artificial breeding programmes in semi-intensive management of goat under the tropical humid island ecosystem in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Erratic rainfall often results in intermittent drought and/or waterlogging and limits maize(Zea mays L.)productivity in many parts of the Asian *** climate-resilient maize germplasm possessing tolerance to these key abiotic stresses without a yield penalty under optimal growing conditions is a challenge for breeders working in stress-vulnerable agro-ecologies in the *** stress-resilient maize for rainfed stress-prone ecologies is identified as one of the priority areas for CIMMYT-Asia maize *** applied rapid cycle genomic selection(RCGS)on two multiparent yellow synthetic populations(MYS-1 and MYS-2)to improve grain yield simultaneously under drought and waterlogging conditions using genomic-estimated breeding values(GEBVs).Also,the populations were simultaneously advanced using recurrent phenotypic selection(PS)by exposing them to managed drought and waterlogging and intermating tolerant plants from the two selection *** cycles per se(C1,C2,and C3)of the two populations developed using RCGS and PS approach and their test-cross progenies were evaluated separately in multilocation trials under managed drought,waterlogging,and optimal moisture *** genetic gains were observed with both GS and PS,except with PS in MYS-2 under drought and with GS in MYS-1 under *** genetic gains from GS were relatively higher under drought conditions(110 and 135 kg ha^(-1) year^(-1))compared to waterlogging(38 and 113 kg ha^(-1) year^(-1))in both MYS-1 and MYS-2,***,under waterlogging stress PS showed at par or better than GS as gain per year with PS was 80 and 90 kg ha^(-1),whereas with GS it was 90 and 43 kg ha^(-1) for MYS-1 and MYS-2,*** findings suggested that careful constitution of a multiparent population by involving trait donors for targeted stresses,along with elite highyielding parents from diverse genetic background,and its improvement using RCGS is an effe

Modification at Lattice Scale for an Optimized Optical Response of Al<sub>x</sub>(ZnO)<sub>1-x</sub>Nanostructures

We report the systematic changes of nano-scaled features and optical properties in a promising transparent oxide material, namely, Alx (x = 0, 1, 2 and 5%) doped ZnO1-x (AZO). Electron microscopy investigations revealed the alterations at lattice scale depending on the presence of Al-content in ZnO nanostructures. Lattice spacings of 0.26 and 0.28 nm oriented along the (0002) and (10 0) planes, respectively, were attributed to euhedral-and facetted-structures of hexagonal-ZnO. The AZO samples were further characterized by XRD, SEM, UV-vis spectrophotometry, Raman spectroscopy and photoluminescence studies. It has been shown that at a dopant concentration of 2%Al in ZnO, an optimal balance could be achieved between microstructure and optical properties.

A Randomized Control Trial Comparing Direct Stripping and Bipolar Electrocoagulation for Laparoscopic Endometriotic Cystectomy-Surgical and Histopathological Aspects

The present study compared two different techniques of endometriotic cystectomy at the hilus : continuation of strip-ping and bipolar elctrocoagulation and cuttin . This was a randomized controlled study was done on 64 patients, who had laparoscopically confirmed endometriomas > 3 cm in diameter. Endometriotic cystectomy was initiated by excision of a circular rim of tissue at the original adhesion site followed by stripping and randomization was done at the ovarian hilum into 2 groups. In Group I surgery was completed by continuation of stripping and in group II surgery was completed by bipolar coagulation and cutting with scissors. Operative time and operative difficulty were evaluated at both steps by the same surgeon. Histopathology confirmation of the loss of normal ovarian tissue was recorded in the excised cyst and at the hilus separately. Data was analysed using Stata software, fisher’s exact test was employed to assess operative difficulty and Kruskal-Wallis test was used to evaluate ovarian tissue quality. The mean operating time was reported to be significantly lesser in the coagulation and cutting group. The operative difficulty was comparable in two groups. The number of primordial follicles sacrificed showed no significant difference in both groups. Complication rate in terms of hemorrhage was higher in the direct stripping group.
