Wire+arc additive manufacturing(WAAM)is considered an innovative technology that can change the manufacturing landscape in the near *** offers the benefits of inexpensive initial system setup and a high deposition rate for fabricating medium-and large-sized parts such as die-casting *** this study,AISI H13 tool steel,a popular die-casting tool metal,is manufactured by cold metal transfer(CMT)-based WAAM and is then comprehensively analyzed for its microstructural and mechanical ***-dependent phase combinations are observed,which could be explained by nonequilibrium thermal cycles that resulted from the layer-by-layer stacking mechanism used in *** addition,remelting and reheating of the layers reduces welding anomalies(e.g.,pores and voids).The metallurgical characteristics of the H13 strongly correlate with the mechanical *** combinations of phases at different locations of the additively manufactured part exhibit a periodic microhardness ***,Retained Austenite,Ferrite,and Carbide phases are found in combination at different locations of the part based on the part’s temperature distribution during additive ***,the tensile properties at elevated temperatures(23℃,300℃,and 600℃)are comparable to those from other WAAM and additive manufacturing(AM)*** X-ray diffraction results verify that the microstructural stability of the fabricated parts at high temperatures would allow them to be used in high temperatures.

目的:探索稻壳灰和人工砂在轻质油棕壳混凝土中部分替换水泥和细骨料对混凝土力学性能的影响,期望得到力学性能较高的轻质混凝土。方法:1.将不同比例的稻壳灰(5%,10%,15%和20%)替换水泥和100%的人工砂或石粉替换沙子,研究它们对混凝土抗压强度的影响;2.研究不同替换比例的稻壳灰(0和15%)和人工砂(0,50%和100%)对混凝土力学性能的综合影响。结论:1.在15%的稻壳灰替换水泥和100%人工砂替换沙子的情况下,最大抗压强度为51.49 MPa;2.替换比例为15%稻壳灰和100%人工砂的组合表现出最好的力学性能,包括抗压强度、抗拉强度、抗弯强度和杨氏模量。

Modelling of a tubular solid oxide fuel cell with different designs of indirect internal reformer

The cell performance and temperature gradient of a tubular solid oxide fuel cell with indirect internal reformer （IIR-SOFC） fuelled by natural gas, containing a typical catalytic packed-bed reformer, a catalytic coated wall reformer, a catalytic annular reformer, and a novel catalytic annular-coated wall reformer were investigated with an aim to determine the most efficient internal reformer system. Among the four reformer designs, IIR-SOFC containing an annular-coated wall reformer exhibited the highest performance in terms of cell power density （0.67 *** 2） and electrical efficiency （68%） with an acceptable temperature gradient and a moderate pressure drop across the reformer （3.53 × 10 5 kPa）. IIR-SOFC with an annular-coated wall reformer was then studied over a range of operating conditions： inlet fuel temperature, operating pressure, steam to carbon （S ： C） ratio, gas flow pattern （co-flow and counter-flow pattern）, and natural gas compositions. The simulation results showed that the temperature gradient across the reformer could not be decreased using a lower fuel inlet temperature （1223 K-1173 K） and both the power density and electrical efficiency of the cell also decreased by lowering fuel inlet temperature. Operating in higher pressure mode （1-10 bar） improved the temperature gradient and cell performance. Increasing the S ： C ratio from 2 ： 1 to 4：1 could decrease the temperature drop across the reformer but also decrease the cell performance. The average temperature gradient was higher and smoother in IIR-SOFC under a co-flow pattern than that under a counter-flow pattern, leading to lower overpotential and higher cell performance. Natural gas compositions significantly affected the cell performance and temperature gradient. Natural gas containing lower methane content provided smoother temperature gradient in the system but showed lower power density and electrical efficiency.

Exploring the role of nonlocal Coulomb interactions in perovskite transition metal oxides

Employing the density functional theory incorporating on-site and inter-site Coulomb interactions(DFT+u+V),we have investigated the role of the nonlocal interactions on the electronic structures of the transition metal oxide *** constrained random phase approximation calculations,we derived screened Coulomb interaction parameters and revealed a competition between localization and screening effects,which results in nonmonotonic behavior with d-orbital *** highlight the significant role and nonlocality of inter-site Coulomb interactions,V,comparable in magnitude to the local interaction,*** DFT+u+V results exemplarily show the representative band renormalization,and deviations from ideal extended Hubbard models due to increased hybridization between transition metal d and oxygen p orbitals as occupation *** further demonstrate that the inclusion of the inter-site V is essential for accurately reproducing the experimental magnetic order in transition metal oxides.

Nondestructive Skeletal Imaging of Hyla suweonensis using Micro-Computed Tomography

We successfully obtained 3D skeletal images of Hyla suweonensis, employing a nondestructive method by applying appropriate anesthesia and limiting the radiation dose. H. suweonensis is a tree frog endemic to Korea and is on the list of endangered species. Previous studies have employed caliper-based measurements and two-dimensional （2D） X-ray imaging for anatomical analyses of the skeletal system or bone types of H. suweonensis. In this work we reconstructed three-dimensional （3D） skeletal images of H. suweonensis, utilizing a nondestructive micro-computed tomography （micro-CT） with a short scan and low radiation dose （i.e. 4 min and 0.16 Gy）. Importantly, our approach can be applied to the imaging of 3D skeletal systems of other endangered frog species, allowing both versatile and high contrast images of anatomical structures without causing any significant damages to the living animal.

A New Approach to Multivariate Network Traffic Analysis

Network traffic analysis is one of the core functions in network monitoring for effective network operations and *** online traffic analysis has been widely studied,it is still intensively challenging due to several *** of the primary challenges is the heavy volume of traffic to analyze within a finite amount of time due to the increasing network *** important challenge for effective traffic analysis is to support multivariate functions of traffic variables to help administrators identify unexpected network events *** this end,we propose a new approach with the multivariate analysis that offers a high-level summary of the online network *** this approach,the current state of the network will display patterns compiled from a set of traffic variables,and the detection problems in network monitoring(e.g.,change detection and anomaly detection)can be reduced to a pattern identification and classification *** this paper,we introduce our preliminary work with clustered patterns for online,multivariate network traffic analysis with the challenges and limitations we *** then present a grid-based model that is designed to overcome the limitations of the clustered pattern-based *** will discuss the potential of the new model with respect to the technical challenges including streaming-based computation and robustness to outliers.

u-IMPACT:a universal 3D microfluidic cell culture platform

The development of organs-on-a-chip has resulted in advances in the reconstruction of 3D cellular ***,there remain limitations regarding applicability and ***,we present an injection-molded plastic array 3D universal culture platform(u-IMPACT)for various biological applications in a single platform,such as cocultures of various cell types,and spheroids(e.g.,tumor spheroids,neurospheres)and tissues(e.g.,microvessels).The u-IMPACT consists of three channels and a spheroid zone with a 96-well plate form ***,organoids or spheroids(~500μm)can be located in designated areas,while cell suspensions or cellladen hydrogels can be selectively placed in three *** stable multichannel patterning,we developed a new patterning method based on capillary action,utilizing capillary channels and the native contact angle of the materials without any *** derived the optimal material hydrophilicity(contact angle of the body,45–90°;substrate,ust patterning through experiments and theoretical *** demonstrated that the u-IMPACT can implement 3D tumor microenvironments for angiogenesis,vascularization,and tumor cell ***,we cultured neurospheres from induced neural stem *** u-IMPACT can serve as a multifunctional organ-on-achip platform for high-content and high-throughput screening.

Ischemic stroke and irreversible consequences:Ischemic stroke in humans is the second most common cause of death in the world(Mozaffarian et al.,2016).The outcomes after a stroke are often dependent on complications,including motor disorders,depression and dementia(Pluta et al.,2018a),which causes a high risk of re-hospitalization and/or palliative *** is also the main reason for long-term disability in people after stroke,with up to half of those who survived the stroke will not regain their independence until the end of their lives(Mozaffarian et al.,2016).According to epidemiological forecasts,human ischemic stroke will soon become the dominant cause of death worldwide(Bejot et al.,2016)as well as dementia with the phenotype of Alzheimer’s disease(AD;kim and Lee 2018).It is suggested that human ischemic stroke and experimental brain ischemia in animals are associated with the possible development of AD neuropathology(Pluta et al.,2018a).
