Fast distributed and parallel pre-processing on massive satellite data using grid computing

Distributed/parallel-processing system like sun grid engine(SGE) that utilizes multiple nodes/cores is proposed for the faster processing of large sized satellite image data. After verification, distributed process environment for pre-processing performance can be improved by up to 560.65% from single processing system. Through this, analysis performance in various fields can be improved, and moreover, near-real time service can be achieved in near future.

Most academic information has its creator, that is, a subject who has created the information. The subject can be an individual, a group, or an institution, and can be a nation depending on the nature of the relevant information. Most web data are composed of a title, an author, and contents. A paper which is under the academic information category has metadata including a title, an author, keyword, abstract, data about publication, place of publication, ISSN, and the like. A patent has metadata including the title, an applicant, an inventor, an attorney, IPC, number of application, and claims of the invention. Most web-based academic information services enable users to search the information by processing the meta-information. An important element is to search information by using the author field which corresponds to a personal name. This study suggests a method of efficient indexing and using the adjacent operation result ranking algorithm to which phrase search-based boosting elements are applied, and thus improving the accuracy of the search results of author name. This method can be effectively applied to providing accurate search results in the academic information services.

Abstract： Open collaboration-based R＆D （research and development） has become an important issue recently. Researchers＇ performance is necessary to be understood by analyzing researchers＇ paper outcome. To drive successful outcomes and co-research, researchers＇ paper outcome should be autonomously established. Therefore we propose an approach to manage and update easily paper outcome of researchers. The proposed approach makes researchers search their paper using the Google Scholar＇s opened API （application program interface） and update their outcome. Since researchers autonomously can establish the list of their own papers in our service using open service, researchers＇ personal outcome can be efficiently managed.

Surgical treatment and ESI （epidural steroid injection） are widely used forms of treatment for cervical radiculopathy but they are controversial and burdensome for patients. To relief pain fast without side effects, we devised a new minimally invasive treatment method that widens the facet joints to decompress nerve roots and release the muscle spasm in cervical radiculopathy with acupuncture needles with blunt tip and mini-scalpel, and named it modified acupuncture procedure. MAP （Modified acupuncture procedure） was administered for 37 patients （mean age = 53.1 years, follow-up = 14.2 months） with cervical radiculopathy who did not recover from 4 weeks of nonsurgical treatment. We analyzed clinical outcomes of patients before and after the procedure through VAS （Visual Analogue Scale） and NDI （Neck Disability Index）. On average, patients received 1.4 MAP （modified acupuncture procedures）. The VAS score difference on the day after procedure and at 1 year follow-up was 36.8 ± 26.5 （from 60.1 ± 25.3 at the baseline to 25.3 ± 17.8 at the reading）（P 〈 0.01） and 31.0 ± 30.4 （29.0 ± 21.8 at the reading） respectively. The NDI value dropped by 19.9 ± 18.3 （from 37.2 ± 19.7 at the baseline to 17.2 ± 15.0 at the reading）（P〈 0.01） on 1 year follow up. MAP was found to have clinical efficacy for cervical radiculopathy.

NTIS (National Science & Technology Information Service) collects national R&D information through the connection system in real time with specialized institutions under government ministries for R&D information service. However, because the information connection between the research management systems in each ministry (institution) and the NTIS is different, it is not easy to operate the connection system, and immediate data collection is thus not ensured. This study aims to propose an information connection model to be applied on the NTIS-like systems. To do this, we examine methods or styles of information connection and compare strength and weakness of connection methods. In this paper we also understand issues or characteristics of the methods through analyzing current information connection methods applied on the NTIS. Therefore, we design a rule-based information connection platform to minimize the information connection issues. Based on the platform, we also propose an information connection model.

Heat Transfer and Acoustic Properties of Open Cell Aluminum Foams

The aluminum open cell foams have been prepared by the conventional precision casting method to investigate the thermal and acoustic properties.A water heating system and silencers were organized as a first step for its *** temperature increase between the top and bottom of the foam became larger as the cell size increased in the heat transfer *** absorption ratio of the close cell foams was 60%-100%, whereas the open cell aluminum foam showed only 10%-20% of sound absorption at low *** the prototype electric water heater manufactured by combining aluminum open cell foam with a heater was heated to 100-400℃,the highest temperature of water was in the range of 16-46~*** suggests that there could be potential for this type of heater to be used as a commercial electric water *** silencer made with the aluminum open cell foam was applied to exit of exhaustion side at air pressure *** silencing effect of open-celled aluminum foam showed that the noise level went down by introducing smaller cell size foam.
