This paper aims to study the oscillation of a sparkgenerated submerged bubble located near or inside a circular aperture made in a flat plate using high-speed visualization technique. In the case of a bubble oscillating near an aperture the initial free surface of the water was set at the bottom surface of the plate. The effects of aperture size and bubblefree surface distance on the bubble behavior as well as on the ensuing droplet dynamics are investigated. It was found that the direction of the bubble reentrant jet was towards the aperture or away from it respectively when the normalized aperture size was smaller or greater than a certain critical value. In addition, a toroidal vortex ring was observed to form, which rotated inwards as it moved away from the aperture. It was also found that if the bubble was incepted at a distance sufficiently away from a supercritical size aperture a single droplet could be produced. In the case of a bub- ble initiated in the middle of a circular aperture submerged just beneath the water free surface, the bubble was found to take the shape of an ellipsoid during its expansion. Then a reentrant jet was initiated and pierced the bubble from its top side.

AIM：To evaluate the association between the severity of liver steatosis and metabolic syndrome in apparently healthy Korean adults. METhoDS： We examined 1022 men and women, aged 30-79 years, who participated in a health screening test. A standard interview, anthropometrics, biochemical studies, and abdominal ultrasonography were conducted for each participant. Metabolic syndrome was defined according to the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel Ⅲ, with a modification for the waist circumference cut-off level. The severity of liver steatosis was evaluated using liver ultrasonography, and serum aspartate aminotransferase（AST）, alanine aminotransferase （ALT）, and γ-glutamyl transferase （γ-GT） levels were determined. RESULTS： Ultrasonographic liver steatosis was strongly associated with metabolic syndrome and common metabolic abnormalities. Compared with people without steatosis, people with mild, moderate, and severe steatosis had adjusted odds ratios for metabolic syndrome of 2.72 （95% CI, 1.01-2.94）, 2.89 （1.75-4.76） and 3.53 （1.25-9.98） in men, and 2.86 （1.64-5.01）, 3.19 （1.80-5.65） and 3.70 （0.82-16.73） in women, respectively. The serum AST level was not associated with metabolic syndrome. The serum ALT and γ-GT levels were significantly associated with metabolic syndrome in men but not in women.CONCLUSION： The occurrence of metabolic syndrome shows a stronger association with the severity of ultrasonographic steatosis than with the serum liver enzyme levels. The degree of fatty infiltration detected on ultrasonography can be used as an indicator of liver dysfunction attributable to metabolic abnormalities.

The effects of 3 chairside polishing kits and mechanical brushing on the surface roughness of 3 different acrylic denture base resins were compared. Acrylic denture base resins （auto-polymerizing, heat-polymerizing, injected heat-polymerizing resins） were examined after a tungsten carbide bur, and after chairside polishing using 3 polishing kits and pumice. The specimens were subjected to mechanical brushing using a wear tester to simulate 30 000 strokes of brushing. The surface roughness of the acrylic denture base resin specimens was measured using a contact pro-filometer. After the test, the random polished acrylic resins were evaluated by scanning electron mi-croscopy （SEM） and atomic force microscopy （AFM）. Acrylic denture base resins polished using the 3 types of polishing kits had a smoother surface than those finished with the tungsten carbide bur （p〈0.05）. The surface of the resin polished by a TC cutter exceeded the Ra of 0.2 μm （p〈0.05）. The auto-polymerizing resin showed a significantly higher surface roughness than the heat-polymerizing resin and injected heat-polymerizing resin （p〉0.05）. In the case of polishing step wise, there was almost no change in surface roughness after brushing （p〉0.05）.

OBJECTIVE: To conduct a systematic review and Meta-analysis of the effectiveness of acupuncture and common acupoint selection for postoperative ileus(POI).METhoDS: Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)comparing acupuncture and non-acupuncture treatment were identified from the databases Pub Med, Cochrane, EBSCO(Academic Source Premier and MEDLINE), Ovid(including EvidenceBased Medicine Reviews), China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang Data. The data from eligible studies were extracted and a Meta-analysis performed using a fixed-effects *** were expressed as relative risk(RR) for dichotomous data, and 95% CI(confidence intervals)were calculated. Each trial was evaluated using the CONSORT(Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials) and STRICTA(STandards for Reporting Interventions in Controlled Trials of Acupuncture) guide-lines. The quality of the study was assessed using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation(GRADE) ***: Of the 69 studies screened, eight RCTs were included for review. Among these, four RCTs(with a total of 123 patients in the intervention groups and 124 patients in the control groups) met the criteria for Meta-analysis. The Meta-analysis results indicated that acupuncture combined with usual care showed a significantly higher total effective rate than the control condition(usual care)(RR1.09, 95% CI 1.01, 1.18; P = 0.02). Zusanli(ST 36) and Shangjuxu(ST 37) were the most common acupoints selected. however, the quality of the studies was generally low, as they did not emphasize the use of ***: The results suggested that acupuncture might be effective in improving POI; however,a definite conclusion could not be drawn because of the low quality of trials. Further large-scale,high-quality randomized clinical trials are needed to validate these findings and to develop a standardized method of treatment. Complex Network Analysis of the Robustness of the Hanoi, Vietnam Bus Network

Many complex networks exist to facilitate the transport of material or information. In this capacity, the authors are often concerned with the continued flow of material or information when a fraction of the links in the complex network is disrupted. In other words, the authors are interested in the robustness of the complex network. In this paper, the authors survey measures of robustness like the average path length, the average clustering coefficient, the global efficiency, the size of largest cluster and use these to analyze the robustness of the bus network in Hanoi, Vietnam. The authors find that the bus network is robust against random failure but sensitive to targeted attack, in agreement with its scale-free character. By examining sharp drops in the average path length within the largest cluster of the Hanoi bus network under successive targeted attack, the authors identify five nodes whose loss lead to the fragmentation of the network into five or six disconnected clusters. These isolated clusters represent geographically the Central, Western, Southern, and Northwestern districts of Hanoi. Special considerations must therefore be given to these five nodes when planners wish to expand the bus network, or make it more robust.

To investigate the clinicopathological variables in early gastric cancer (EGC) patients in relation to differentiation discrepancy. METhoDSThe data of 265 specimens from 240 patients with EGC, who had undergone radical operation at Hallym University Sacred Heart hospital from 2010 to 2015, were retrospectively analyzed. We evaluated clinical, endoscopic, and histopathological data according to histological discrepancy. RESULTSClinically significant discrepancy rate showed the difference in differentiated type (well and moderately differentiated) and undifferentiated type (poorly differentiated and signet ring cell) between endoscopic biopsies and postoperative specimens was 9.4% (25/265). There were no differences in tumor location, size, gross pattern, and number of biopsies. Specimens having histological discrepancy showed more submucosal invasion (72.0% vs 49.6%, P = 0.033) and lymph node involvement (24.0% vs 7.9%, P = 0.009) than specimens having non-discrepancy. The rate of a positive epidermal growth factor receptor status was higher in specimens having discrepancy than in specimens having non-discrepancy (81.0% vs 55.4%, P = 0.035). CONCLUSIONThe discordance of histologic differentiation is associated with higher submucosal invasion and lymph node metastases in EGC. Patients have histological discrepancy may require additional surgical treatments.

A colonic lipoma is a very rare benign tumor that is usually asymptomatic and is found incidentally by *** with a large colonic lipoma may present with symptoms such as abdominal pain,bleeding,and colonic obstruction or *** report two patients with large colonic lipomas and *** endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD) was performed to remove the lipomas instead of conventional surgical bowel *** complications were observed during or after the *** tumors were resected en bloc,and the patients were discharged 2 d after ESD with a regular *** results indicate that ESD can be applied as safe and effective treatment for a large colonic lipoma.
