Although there is a high demand for absorption-dominant electromagnetic interference(EMI) shielding materials for 5G millimeter-wave(mmWave) frequencies, most current shielding materials are based on reflection-dominant conductive materials. While there are few absorption-dominant shielding materials proposed with magnetic materials, their working frequencies are usually limited to under 30 GHz. In this study, a novel multi-band absorption-dominant EMI shielding film with M-type strontium ferrites and a conductive grid is proposed. This film shows ultralow EMI reflection of less than 5% in multiple mmWave frequency bands with sub-millimeter thicknesses, while shielding more than 99.9% of EMI. The ultralow reflection frequency bands are controllable by tuning the ferromagnetic resonance frequency of M-type strontium ferrites and composite layer geometries. Two examples of shielding films with ultralow reflection frequencies, one for 39 and 52 GHz 5G telecommunication bands and the other for 60 and 77 GHz autonomous radar bands, are presented. The remarkably low reflectance and thinness of the proposed films provide an important advancement toward the commercialization of EMI shielding materials for 5G mmWave applications.

BACKGROUND The biochemical phenomenon defined as poly adenosine diphosphate(ADP)-ribosylation(PARylation)is essential for the progression of pancreatic ***,the excessive accumulation of poly ADP-ribose(PAR)induces apoptosis-inducing factor(AIF)release from mitochondria and energy deprivation resulting in the caspase-independent death of cancer *** To investigate whether sustained calcium supply could induce an anticancer effect on pancreatic cancer by PAR *** Two pancreatic cancer cell lines,AsPC-1 and CFPAC-1 were used for the *** influx and mitochondrial reactive oxygen species(ROS)were observed by fluorescence *** in enzyme levels,as well as PAR accumulation and energy metabolism,were measured using assay ***-dependent cell death was investigated followed by confirming in vivo anticancer effects by sustained calcium *** Mitochondrial ROS levels were elevated with increasing calcium influx into pancreatic cancer ***,excess PAR accumulation,decreased PAR glycohydrolase and ADP-ribosyl hydrolase 3 levels,and energy deprivation were *** vitro and in vivo antitumor effects were confirmed to accompany elevated AIF *** This study visualized the potential anticancer effects of excessive PAR accumulation by sustained calcium supply on pancreatic cancer,however elucidating a clear mode of action remains a challenge,and it should be accompanied by further studies to assess its potential for clinical application.

The flexible and stretchable multifunctional sensors for the precise monitoring of the human physiological health indicators is an emerging requirement of next-generation ***,the integration of multifunctional sensors into a common substrate for simultaneous detection of such signals without interfering with each other is the most challenging ***,we propose MXene-Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) and 3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene(EDOT)deposited on laser-induced graphene(LIG/MXene-Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)@EDOT)composite-based flexible and stretchable multifunctional sensors for strain,temperature,and electrocardiogram(ECG)***-situ electrophoretic deposition(EPD)of MXene-Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)@EDOT composite into LIG outperforms high strain sensitivity of 2,075,temperature coefficient of resistance(TCR)of 0.86%,and low skin-contact *** sensor platform is integrated into an ultrathin and highly resilient polystyrene-block-poly(ethylene-ran-butylene)-block-polystyrene(SEBS).Finally,we demonstrate onsite detection of human body-induced deformations and physiological health indicators,such as temperature and *** proposed approach paves a promising route to future wearables for smart skin and healthcare applications.

Porous 2D materials with high conductivity and large surface area have been proposed for potential electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding materials in future mobility and wearable applications to prevent signal noise,transmission inaccuracy,system malfunction,and health ***,we report on the synthesis of lightweight and flexible flash-induced porous graphene(FPG)with excellent EMI shielding *** broad spectrum of pulsed flashlight induces photo-chemical and photo-thermal reactions in polyimide films,forming 5×10 cm^(2)-size porous graphene with a hollow pillar structure in a few *** resulting material demonstrated low density(0.0354 g cm^(−3))and outstanding absolute EMI shielding effectiveness of 1.12×10^(5) dB cm^(2) g^(−1).The FPG was characterized via thorough material analyses,and its mechanical durability and flexibility were confirmed by a bending cycle ***,the FPG was utilized in drone and wearable applications,showing effective EMI shielding performance for internal/external EMI in a drone radar system and reducing the specific absorption rate in the human body.

Efficient extraction of light from a high refractive index silicon waveguide out of a chip is difficult to *** inverse design approach was employed using the particle swarm optimization method to attain a vertical emitting meta-grating coupler with high coupling efficiency in a 220-nm-thick silicon-on-insulator *** carefully selecting the figure of merit and appropriately defining parameter space,unique L-shape and U-shape grating elements that boosted the out-of-plane radiation of light were *** addition,a 65.7%(-1.82 dB)outcoupling efficiency and a 60.2%(-2.2 dB)fiber-to-chip vertical coupling efficiency with an 88 nm 3 dB bandwidth were demonstrated by numerical *** fabrication constraints,the optimized complex meta-grating coupler was modified to correspond to two etching steps and was then fabricated with a complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor-compatible *** modified meta-grating coupler exhibited a simulated coupling efficiency of 57.5%(-2.4 d B)with a 74 nm 3-dB bandwidth in the C-band and an experimentally measured coupling efficiency of 38%(-4.2 dB).

Macroalgae have long been used as biological indicators of marine ecosystem health worldwide due to their ecological importance and sensitivity to environmental stress.A number of previous studies have utilized macroalgal communities in monitoring surveys of environmental *** study examined the characteristics and patterns of marine macroalgal communities in the Yellow Sea off the western coast of *** were analyzed for the number of species,biomass,and coverage ratio by macroalgal *** the study period,82 macroalgal species(10 green algae,17 brown algae,and 55 red algae)were identified at the five study sites,with the highest number of species found at Gwanrido and Uido(both containing 41 species)and the lowest at Daeijakdo(27 species).The average biomass(via dry weight)was 98.63 g/m^(2),consisting of green algae(8.39 g/m^(2)),brown algae(35.08 g/m^(2)),and red algae(55.16 g/m^(2)).The dominant macroalgae species in terms of biomass were Corallina pilulifera,Sargassum thunbergii,and Ulva australis in the intertidal zones,and Botryocladia wrightii and Gelidium elegans in the subtidal ***,evenness,and diversity indices based on the biomass of abundant species were 5.08,0.65,and 2.30,respectively,over the entire study *** on the evaluation of the environmental states by the community indices,overall,the Ecological Evaluation Index of macroalgae communities in the study area was marked as“Good-Moderate”,but was determined as“ModerateLow”at several sites during *** results can be a direct approach in the assessment of coastal habitats in which anthropogenic as well as climate change influences persist.

BACKGROUND Tamsulosin,a selectiveα1-adrenergic receptor antagonist,is commonly used for treating neurogenic bladder in patients with spinal cord injury(SCI).No severe adverse events have been described with such tamsulosin *** our knowledge,we report the first case of severe life-threatening hypotension as an adverse effect of tamsulosin in a person with ***,we report this case to inform that this severe adverse effect of tamsulosin can occur when treating patients with *** SUMMARY A 59-year-old woman was diagnosed with cervical spinal cord myelopathy and was classified as American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale D,neurological level of injury *** she suffered from voiding difficulty due to neurogenic bladder,we prescribed *** vital signs remained stable,but occasional hypotensive symptoms followed *** reduced the dose of tamsulosin,but after administering tamsulosin for 9 d,she experienced lifethreatening hypotension with no evidence of hypovolemic shock,neurogenic shock,cardiogenic shock,or septic shock.A hypotensive condition induced by tamsulosin was the suspected cause,and her symptoms could be associated with adverse effects of *** symptoms resolved after stopping tamsulosin,and no other reason was found,we concluded that tamsulosin was the cause of her *** Caution for severe hypotension is needed when administering tamsulosin for neurogenic bladder in a patient with SCI.
