A one-step method was developed to create a highly biocompatible micropatterned surface on a diamond-like carbon(DLC)through irradiation with a nitrogen ion beam and thus enhance the biocompatibility of osseointegrated surfaces and biotribological performance of articular *** biocompatibility and biotribological mechanisms were analyzed in terms of the structure and morphology of *** was demonstrated that a layer enriched in sp^(3) C-N bonds was formed on the surface of the DLC after nitrogen ion beam ***,with an increase in the radiation dose,the content of sp^(3) C-N on the DLC surface increased significantly,and the biocompatibility was positively correlated with *** adhesion of the MC3T3 osteoblasts increased significantly from 32%to 86%under an irradiation dose of 8×10^(15) ions/cm^(2).In contrast,the micropattern had a significant negative effect on the adhesion of the osteoblasts as it physically hindered cell expansion and *** micropattern with a depth of 37 nm exhibited good friction properties,and the coefficient of friction was reduced by 21%at relatively high speeds.

Background:Germ cell mitotic arrest is conserved in many vertebrates,including birds,although the time of entry or exit into quiescence phase *** arrest is essential for the normal differentiation of male germ cells into spermatogonia and accompanies epigenetic reprogramming and meiosis inhibition from embryonic development to ***,mitotic arrest was not well studied in chickens because of the difficulty in obtaining pure germ cells from relevant developmental ***:We performed single-cell RNA sequencing to investigate transcriptional dynamics of male germ cells during mitotic arrest in DAZL::GFP *** differentially expressed gene analysis and K-means clustering to analyze cells at different developmental stages(E12,E16,and hatch),we found that metabolic and signaling pathways were regulated,and that the epigenome was reprogrammed during mitotic *** particular,we found that histone H3K9 and H3K14 acetylation(by HDAC2)and DNA demethylation(by DNMT3B and HELLS)led to a transcriptionally permissive chromatin ***,we found that global DNA demethylation occurred gradually after the onset of mitotic arrest,indicating that the epigenetic-reprogramming schedule of the chicken genome differs from that of the mammalian *** hypomethylation persisted after hatching,and methylation was slowly re-established 3 weeks ***:We found a unique epigenetic-reprogramming schedule of mitotic-arrested chicken prospermatogonia and prolonged hypomethylation after *** will provide a foundation for understanding the process of germ-cell epigenetic regulation in several species for which this process is not clearly *** findings on the biological processes related to sex-specific differentiation of prospermatogonia could help studying germline development in vitro more elaborately.

Electrochemical N_(2) reduction reaction(eNRR) over Cu-based catalysts suffers from an intrinsically low activity of Cu for activation of stable N_(2) molecules and the limited supply of N_(2) to the catalyst due to its low solubility in aqueous ***,we propose phosphorus-activated Cu electrocatalysts to generate electron-deficient Cu sites on the catalyst surface to promote the adsorption of N_(2) *** eNRR system is further modified using a gas diffusion electrode(GDE) coated with polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) to form an effective three-phase boundary of liquid water-gas N_(2)-solid catalyst to facilitate easy access of N_(2) to the catalytic *** a result,the new catalyst in the flow-type cell records a Faradaic efficiency of 13.15% and an NH_(3) production rate of 7.69 μg h^(-1) cm^(-2) at-0.2 V_(RHE),which represent 3.56 and 59.2 times increases from those obtained with a pristine Cu electrode in a typical electrolytic *** work represents a successful demonstration of dual modification strategies;catalyst modification and N_(2) supplying system engineering,and the results would provide a useful platform for further developments of electrocatalysts and reaction systems.

BACKGROUND Patients with Barcelona clinic liver cancer(BCLC)stage B hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)are considerably heterogeneous in terms of tumor burden,liver function,and performance *** improve the poor survival outcomes of these patients,treatment approaches other than transarterial chemoembolization(TACE),which is recommended by HCC guidelines,have been adopted in realworld clinical *** hypothesize that this non-adherence to treatment guidelines,particularly with respect to the use of liver resection,improves survival in patients with stage B *** To assess guideline adherence in South Korean patients with stage B HCC and study its impact on *** A retrospective analysis was conducted using data from 2008 to 2016 obtained from the Korea Central Cancer *** with stage B HCC were categorized into three treatment groups,guideline-adherent,upward,and downward,based on HCC guidelines recommended by the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver(APASL),the European Association for the Study of the Liver(EASL),and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases(AASLD).The primary outcome was HCC-related deaths;tumor recurrence served as the secondary *** among the groups was compared using the Kaplan-Meier method and the log-rank *** of survival outcomes were identified using multivariable Cox regression *** In South Korea, over the study period from 2008 to 2016, a notable trend was observed in adherence to HCCguidelines. Supercritical water oxidation （SCWO） has been drawing much attention due to effectively destroy a large variety of high-risk wastes resulting from munitions demilitarization and complex industrial chemical. An important design consideration in the development of supercritical water oxidation is the information of decomposition rate. In this paper, the decomposition rate of dimethyl methylphosphonate（DMMP）, which is similar to the nerve agent VX and GB（Sarin） in its structure, was investigated under SCWO conditions. The experiments were performed in an isothermal tubular reactor with a H2O2 as an oxidant. The reaction temperatures were ranged from 398 to 633℃ at a fixed pressure of 24 MPa. The conversion of DMMP was monitored by analyzing total organic carbon （TOC） on the liquid effluent samples. It is found that the oxidative decomposition of DMMP proceeded rapidly and a high TOC decomposition up to 99.99% was obtained within 11 s at 555℃. On the basis of data derived from experiments, a global kinetic equation for the decomposition of DMMP was developed. The model predictions agreed well with the experimental data.

A complete control type plant factory has high efficiency in terms of cultivation area by constructing vertical multiple layered cultivation ***,it has a problem of irregular crop growth due to temperature deviation at upper and lower beds and increases in energy consumption by a prolonged cultivation *** this work,air flow rate inside a facility was improved by a hybrid control of air flow devices like air conditioning and air circulation fan with an established wireless sensor network to minimize temperature deviations between upper and lower beds and to promote crop *** performance of proposed system was verified with an experimental environment or Case A wherein air conditioning device was operated without a control algorithm and Case B wherein air conditioning and circulation fans were alternatively operated based on the hybrid control *** planting leafy vegetables under each experimental condition,crops were cultivated for 21 *** a result,Case B wherein AC(air conditioning) and ACF(air-circulation fan) were alternatively operated based on the hybrid control algorithm showed that fresh mass,number of leaves,and leaf length for the crops grown were increased by 40.6%,41.1%,and 11.1%,respectively,compared to Case A.

Nephrotic syndrome(NS)is a kidney disease characterized by hypertriglyceridemia,massive proteinuria,hypo-albuminemia and peripheral ***-gamibang(SKHGMB)was recorded in a traditional Chinese medical book named“Bangyakhappyeon(方藥合編)”and its three prescriptions Sinkihwan,Geumgwe-sinkihwan,and Jesaeng-sinkihwan belong to *** study confirmed the effect of SKHGMB on renal dysfunction in an NS model induced by puromycin aminonucleoside(PAN).The experimental NS model was induced in male Sprague Dawley(SD)rats through injection of PAN(50 mg·kg^(-1))via the femoral *** not only reduced the size of the kidneys increased due to PAN-induced NS,but also decreased proteinuria and *** addition,SKHGMB significantly ameliorated creatinine clearance,creatinine,and blood urea *** relieved glomeruli dilation and tubules fibrosis in the glomeruli of the NS *** inhibited the protein and mRNA levels of the NLRP3 inflammasome including NLRP3,ASC,and pro-caspase-1 in NS *** reduced the protein and mRNA levels of fibrosis regulators in NS *** results indicated that SKHGMB exerts protective effects against renal dysfunction by inhibiting of renal inflammation and fibrosis in NS rats.
