A comparison of desensitization methods: Rituximab with/without plasmapheresis in ABO-incompatible living donor liver transplantation

Background: Plasmapheresis is a desensitization method used prior to ABO-incompatible(ABO-I) living donor liver transplantation. However, studies on its usefulness in the rituximab era are ***: Fifty-six adult patients underwent ABO-I living donor liver transplantation between January2012 and October 2015. A single dose of rituximab(300 mg/m~2) was administered 2 weeks before surgery with plasmapheresis in all patients until February 2014(RP group, n = 26). Patients were administered rituximab only, without plasmapheresis between March 2014 and October 2015(RO group, n = 30).Results: The 6-, 12-and 18-month overall survival rates were 92.3%, 80.8% and 76.9% in the RP group and 96.6%, 85.4% and 85.4% in the RO group, respectively(P = 0.574). When the initial isoagglutinin titers < 16, neither group showed a rebound rise of isoagglutinin titers. For patients with initial isoagglutinin titers ≥ 16, the rebound rise of isoagglutinin titers was more prominent in the RP group. There was no difference in time-dependent changes in B cell subpopulations and ABO-I-related ***: Sufficient desensitization for ABO-I living donor liver transplantation can be achieved using rituximab alone. This desensitization strategy does not affect the isoagglutinin titers, ABO-I-related complications and patient survival.

In the development of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs),secondary building units(SBUs)have been utilized as molecular modules for the construction of nanoporous materials with robust *** solvothermal synthetic conditions,dynamic changes in the metal coordination environments and ligand coordination modes of SBUs determine the resultant product ***,MOF phases with new topologies can also be achieved by post-synthetic treatment of as-synthesized MOFs via the introduction of acidic or basic moieties that cause the simultaneous cleavage/reformation of coordination bonds in the solid *** this sense,we studied the solid-state transformation of two ndc-based Zn-MOFs(ndc=1,4-naphthalene dicarboxylate)with different SBUs but the same pcu topology to another MOF with sev *** of the chosen MOFs with pcu nets is[Zn_(2)(ndc)_(2)(bpy)]_(n)(bpy=4,4,-bipyridine),(6C_(bpy)-MOF)consisting of a 6-connected pillared-paddlewheel SBU,and the other is IRMOF-7 composed of 6-connected Zn40(C 00)6 SBUs and *** post-structural modification,these pcu MOFs were converted into the same MOF with sev topology constructed from the uncommon 7-connected Zri_(4)O(COO)_(7)SBU(7C-MOF).The appropriate post-synthetic conditions for the transformation of each SBUs were systematically *** addition,the effect of the pillar molecules in the pillared-paddlewheel MOFs on the topology conversion was studied in terms of the linker basicity,which determines the inertness during the solid-state phase *** post-synthetic modification approach is expected to expand the available methods for designing and synthesizing MOFs with controlled topologies.

The microstructures and mechanical properties of Mg-x Bi(x=2,5,and 8 wt%)were investigated compared with pure *** ascast Mg-Bi billets consist of dendriticα-Mg grain matrix,divorced eutectic Mg_(3)Bi_(2) phase and secondary precipitated Mg_(3)Bi_(2) *** homogenization,secondary precipitated Mg_(3)Bi_(2) particles were all dissolved into the matrix,while most of the divorced eutectic Mg_(3)Bi_(2) intermetallic compounds *** the as-extruded samples exhibit fully dynamic recrystallization(DRX)and the average grain size decreases and the amount of nano-scale Mg_(3)Bi_(2) precipitates increases with increasing Bi ***,Bi alloying has little influence on the texture of the as-extruded pure Mg,with all the samples showing typical basal *** the results of grain refinement and precipitation hardening,the strengths of the as-extruded samples increase under both tensile and compressive ***,the yield asymmetry significantly decreases with Bi ***,all the as-extruded samples represent similar ductility under compression,while the tensile elongation first increases and then decreases with more Bi *** as-extruded Mg-5Bi alloy demonstrates good combination of strength and ***,Mg-8Bi alloy displays lower tensile ductility than that of Mg-5Bi alloy due to the presence of abundant undissolved coarse Mg_(3)Bi_(2) particles,which act as cracking sources during tensile ***,the strain hardening rate,strain hardening exponent n,and hardening capacity Hc are greatly reduced by Bi addition,mainly owing to the enhanced synergy effects of grain refinement and numerous Mg_(3)Bi_(2) precipitates.

Vitellogenin（Vtg）is the precursor of egg yolk proteins,and its expression has been used as a reliable biomarker for estrogenic contamination in the aquatic *** examine the biomarker potential of the self-fertilizing killifish Kryptolebias marmoratus Vtgs（Km-Vtgs）,full genomic DNAs of Km-Vtgs-Aa,Km-Vtgs-Ab,and Km-Vtgs-C were cloned,sequenced,and *** Vtg genes in *** are tandemly placed in a550 kb section of the same *** silico analysis of promoter regions revealed that both the Km-Vtgs-Aa and Km-Vtgs-Ab genes had an estrogen response element（ERE）,but the Km-Vtgs-C gene did ***,all three Km-Vtgs genes had several ERE-half sites in their promoter *** analysis demonstrated that the three deduced amino acid residues were highly conserved with conventional Vtgs protein,forming distinctive clades within teleost *** tissue showed the highest expression of Km-Vtg transcripts in all tested tissues（brain/pituitary,eye,gonad,intestine,skin,and muscle）in response to endocrine disrupting chemical（EDC）-exposed ***-Vtg transcripts were significantly increased in response to 17β-estradiol（E2）,tamoxifen（TMX）,4-n-nonylphenol（NP）,bisphenol A（BPA）,and octylphenol（OP）over 24 hr *** Km-Vtg-A gene was highly expressed compared to the control in response to NP and ***-induced modulatory patterns of Km-Vtg gene expression were different depending on tissue,gender,and isoforms.

Recycling spent lithium-ion batteries(SLIBs)has become essential to preserve the environment and reclaim vital resources for sustainable *** typical SLIBs recycling concentrated on separating valuable components had limitations,including high energy consumption and complicated separation *** work suggests a safe hydrometallurgical process to recover usable metallic cobalt from depleted LiCoO_(2)batteries by utilizing citric acid as leachant and hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizing agent,with ethanol as a selective precipitating *** anode graphite was also recovered and converted to graphene oxide(GO).The above components were directly resynthesized to cobaltintegrated nitrogen-doped graphene(Co@NG).The Co@NG showed a decent activity towards oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)with a half-wave potential of 0.880 V ***,almost similar to Pt/C(0.888 V ***)and with an onset potential of 0.92 V *** metal-nitrogen-carbon(Co-N-C)having the highest nitrogen content has decreased the barrier for ORR since the reaction was enhanced for Co@NG-800,as confirmed by density functional theory(DFT)*** Co@NG cathode catalyst coupled with commercial Pt-Ru/C as anode catalyst exhibits excellent performance for direct methanol fuel cell(DMFC)with a peak power density of 34.7 mW cm^(-2)at a discharge current density of120 m A cm^(-2)and decent stability,indicating the promising utilization of spent battery materials in DMFC ***,lithium was recovered from supernatant as lithium carbonate by coprecipitation *** work avoids sophisticated elemental separation by utilizing SLIBs for other renewable energy applications,lowering the environmental concerns associated with recycling.

Empirical approach for reliability evaluation of tunnel excavation stability using the Q rock mass classification system

The critical strain concept has been widely used in analytical or numerical approaches to evaluate the stability of underground ***,empirical,and numerical procedures are usually used to determine the critical strain *** paper presents a reliability assessment procedure for evaluating excavation stability using the empirical approach based on the rock mass classification Q and the first order reliability method(FORM).In contrast to deterministic critical strain values,a probabilistic critical strain,which considers uncertainties in rock mass parameters,was incorporated in a limit state function for reliability *** the rock mass classification Q,the empirically estimated tunnel stain was included in the limit state *** critical strain and estimated tunnel strain were probabilistically characterized based on the rock mass classification Q-derived rock mass *** Carlo simulations were also conducted for comparing the reliability analysis results with those derived from the FORM algorithm.A highway tunnel case study was used to demonstrate the reliability assessment *** effects of the input ground parameter correlations,probability distributions,and coefficients of variation on tunnel reliability were *** show that uncorrelated and normally distributed input parameters(intact rock strength and elastic modulus)have generated more conservative *** reliability analysis results also show that the tunnel had relatively high reliability(reliability index of 2.78 and probability of failure of 0.27%),indicating the tunnel is not expected to experience instability after *** tunnel excavation stability was assessed using analytical and numerical approaches for *** results were consistent with the reliability analysis using the FORM algorithm’s Q-based empirical method.

Room temperature deformation behavior of A1-8Fe-2Mo-2V-1Zr alloy produced by spray forming and subsequent warm-extrusion at 693 K and/or rolling at 423 K was investigated in terms of tensile test and microstructural *** the specimen processed by spray forming and warm extrusion, the microstructure consisting of equiaxed grains with the average grain size of 500 nm in the matrix phase and uniformly dispersed fine intermetallic A13(Fe, Mo, V, Zr) and A16(Fe, Mo, V, Zr) phases less than 100 nm was characterized. It was revealed that subsequent warm rolling after warm extrusion promotes precipitation of a fine dispersoid from the supersaturated matrix phase. Warm rolling was found to be effective to increase the yield and tensile strength in the high strain rate regime. Elongation of the warm rolled specimen showed highe r value than extruded specimen over the whole strain rate region studied.

Electrical resistivity evolution in electrodeposited Ru and Ru-Co nanowires

Nanoscale ruthenium(Ru)-based materials are promising replacements for existing multilayered Cu interconnects in integrated ***,it is not easy to apply the results of previously reported studies directly to the electrochemical damascene process because the previous studies have mainly focused on thin flms by dry ***,we report the electrical resistivity and microstructure of electrodeposited Ru *** estimate that the resistivity value of a 10 nm diameter Ru nanowire to be71.6μΩcm after analyzing the resistivity values of individual nanowires with various ***,we investigate the electrical properties of Ru_(x)Co_(1-x)nanowires where x is 0.04–0.99 at.%as possible replacements of the current Ta N barrier *** the entire composition range,the resistivity values of alloys are much lower than that of the conventional Ta ***,Ru and Ru-alloy nanowires surrounded by dielectric silica are thermally stable after 450°C heat ***,the nanoscale Ru and Ru-Co alloys possessing low resistivity values can be candidates for the interconnect and barrier materials,respectively.
