Experiences with a violence and mental health safety protocol for a randomized controlled trial to support youth living with HIV

Background:Safety protocols are an essential component of studies addressing violence and mental health but are rarely described in the published literature from Sub-Saharan *** designed and implemented a safety protocol within Project YES!(Youth Engaging for Success),which enrolled 276 youth living with HIV(ages 15–24 years)in a randomized controlled trial of a peer-mentoring intervention across four HIV clinics in Ndola,***:Youth who reported severe violence and/or suicidal thoughts on research surveys or during meetings with youth peer mentors(YPM)were referred to designated healthcare providers(HcP).We explored experiences with the safety protocol using:a)monitoring data of referrals,and b)in-depth interviews with youth(n=82),HcP(n=10),YPM(n=8),and staff(n=6).Descriptive statistics were generated and thematic analysis of coded transcripts and written memos ***:Nearly half of youth enrolled(48%of females,41%of males)were referred to a HcP at least *** first referral was most often for sexual violence(35%)and/or suicidal ideation/depression(29%).All referred youth aged 15–17 years and over 80%of referred youth aged 18+agreed to see a *** referred 15%for additional services outside the ***-nine youth,all HcP,all YPM,and all staff interviewed discussed the safety *** youth felt“encouraged,”“helped,”“unburdened,”and“relieved”by their meetings with HcP;some expressed concerns about meeting with *** safety protocol helped HcP recognize the need to integrate care for violence and mental health with medication adherence ***,YPM,and study staff raised implementation challenges,including youth choosing not to open up to HcP,time and resource constraints,deficiencies in HcP training,and stigma and cultural norms inhibiting referrals outside the clinic for emotional trauma and mental ***:Implementing a safety protocol within an HIV clinic-based research study is possible and beneficial for

与农村土壤相比 ,阿伯丁市城市土壤 (路边土、公园土 )的微生物特征发生了显著的改变 ,微生物基底呼吸作用明显增强 ,但微生物生物量却显著降低 ,微生物生理生态参数cmic corg、qcO2 值明显升高 ,Biolog数据显示城市土壤对能源碳的消耗量和速度显著升高 .对重金属元素研究表明 ,与农村土相比城市土壤中重金属Pb、Zn、cu、Ni已经有明显积累 ,化学形态研究表明Pb主要与氧化铁有关 ,Ni、Zn以残渣态为主 ,cd以有效态为主 ,而cu除有效态外 ,其它结合形态基本具有同等重要的意义 .主成分分析表明 ,有效态Pb是控制城市土壤与农村土壤微生物特征差异的主要因素 ,其次为Zn ,cu和Ni的有效态和有机态亦有一定的作用效应 .

Status and prospects for symmetric organic redox flow batteries

As environmental concerns from fossil fuel consumption intensify, large-scale energy storage becomes imperative for the integration of renewable sources like wind, hydro, and solar with the electrical *** flow batteries, particularly those employing organic molecules, are positioned as a key technology for this purpose. This review explores the growing field of symmetric organic redox flow batteries(ORFBs) within this context. Unlike traditional asymmetric designs based on unique active materials for each electrode, symmetric ORFBs involve a single bipolar species for both electrodes. This review highlights the benefits of a symmetric design, and categorizes five distinct classes of organic bipolar molecules used in both aqueous and non-aqueous solvents. By providing a comprehensive overview of their cell cycling and performance characteristics, the strengths and weaknesses of the diverse categories of bipolar molecules are highlighted for both solvent systems, as are opportunities for future development. This should guide new research directions and advance the development of practical symmetric ORFBs.

The "central six" of ptosis repair: eliminating contour as a variable in external levator surgery

Aim:Eyelid contour is a key component to satisfactory lid position and appearance following ptosis repair,the components of which have been highly debated and remain difficult to objectively *** sought to minimize the number of intraoperative adjustments required and reduce reoperation rates by addressing only the central 6 mm of tarsus when reapproximating levator to the anterior surface of tarsus,thereby eliminating contour as an adjustable ***:All patients who underwent external levator resection with blepharoplasty for correction of involutional ptosis between 2012 and 2019 by a single surgeon at one center were retrospectively *** who underwent concomitant brow lifting surgery were *** same technique was used for each eyelid with uniform suture *** 6-0 silk horizontal mattress suture was placed partial thickness through the superior third of tarsus 3 mm lateral to the center of tarsus;another was passed 3 mm medial to the center of *** sutures were placed outside of this central 6-mm *** fixation was used to determine lid height and *** satisfactory,the sutures were tied down in a permanent fashion and the eyelid position again *** total,153 eyelids in 85 patients were *** obtained included preoperative and postoperative margin-to-reflex distance(MRD1),intraoperative and postoperative complications,reoperation rates,and patient satisfaction with appearance of lid contour and ***:The mean follow up time was 3.41 *** mean preoperative MRD1 was 1.05 *** mean post-operative was 3.18 *** patients had recovery of an anatomically normal temporal peak *** of 153 ;eyelids(1.31%)required reoperation due to residual ptosis or *** patients had postoperative ***-one percent of patients who underwent bilateral surgery had satisfactory symmetry defined as less than or equal to 1-mm difference between right and left MR
