High-energy nuclear collisions encompass three key stages:the structure of the colliding nuclei,informed by low-energy nuclear physics,the initial condition,leading to the formation of quark-gluon plasma(QGP),and the hydrodynamic expansion and hadronization of the QGP,leading to fnal-state hadron distributions that are observed *** advances in both experimental and theoretical methods have ushered in a precision era of heavy-ion collisions,enabling an increasingly accurate understanding of these ***,most approaches involve simultaneously determining both QGP properties and initial conditions from a single collision system,creating complexity due to the coupled contributions of these stages to the fnal-state *** avoid this,we propose leveraging established knowledge of low-energy nuclear structures and hydrodynamic observables to independently constrain the QGP's initial *** conducting comparative studies of collisions involving isobar-like nuclei—species with similar mass numbers but diferent ground-state geometries—we can disentangle the initial condition's impacts from the QGP *** approach not only refnes our understanding of the initial stages of the collisions but also turns high-energy nuclear experiments into a precision tool for imaging nuclear structures,ofering insights that complement traditional low-energy *** for carrying out such comparative experiments at the Large Hadron Collider and other facilities could signifcantly advance both highenergy and low-energy nuclear ***,this approach has implications for the future electron-ion *** the possibilities are extensive,we focus on selected proposals that could beneft both the high-energy and low-energy nuclear physics *** prepared as input for the long-range plan of *** physics,this white paper refects the status as of September 2022,with a brief update on developments sinc

Pathway analysis,also known as gene-set enrichment analysis,is a multilocus analytic strategy that integrates a priori,biological knowledge into the statistical analysis of high-throughput genetics *** developed for the studies of gene expression data,it has become a powerful analytic procedure for indepth mining of genome-wide genetic variation *** discoveries were made in the past years,uncovering genes and biological mechanisms underlying common and complex ***,as massive amounts of diverse functional genomics data accrue,there is a pressing need for newer generations of pathway analysis methods that can utilize multiple layers of high-throughput genomics *** this review,we provide an intellectual foundation of this powerful analytic strategy,as well as an update of the state-of-the-art in recent method *** goal of this review is threefold:(1)introduce the motivation and basic steps of pathway analysis for genome-wide genetic variation data;(2)review the merits and the shortcomings of classic and newly emerging integrative pathway analysis tools;and(3)discuss remaining challenges and future directions for further method developments.

The effect of addition of Ru and Pd to Mo/HZSM-5 catalysts used in the dehydroaromatization of methane was investigated. Catalytic tests and temperature-programmed oxidation results showed that Pd-based catalysts were more selective to naphthalene and suffered strong deactivation. The presence of Ru improved the activity and stability, with a decrease in the carbonaceous deposit probably because of a mechanism of protection of the Mo2C surface.

Applying SMART Goal Intervention Leads to Greater Goal Attainment, Need Satisfaction and Positive Affect

Previous research suggests that planning interventions lead to increased goal attainment, while other researchsuggests that goal attainment leads to increased well-being. This research integrates these two sets of researchfindings by investigating the effectiveness of one goal planning intervention, the SMART goal program, on goalattainment, and thus need satisfaction and well-being, in university students. An experimental design across aone-week period was employed to test whether participants in the experimental group, who received the SMARTgoal instructions, better obtained their goal in comparison to control group participants who did not receive thosespecific instructions. Findings indicated that the SMART goal program led to greater rated goal attainment andneed satisfaction, but not greater subjective well-being (SWB). Nevertheless, one component of SWB, positiveaffect, was greater in the Experimental group. Type of individually chosen self-concordant goal content hadno impact on whether participants attained their goal.

Divergence in the transcriptional landscape between low temperature and freeze shock in cultivated grapevine (Vitis vinifera)

Low-temperature stresses limit the sustainability and productivity of grapevines when early spring frosts damage young grapevine *** conditions often expose grapevines to low,but not damaging,chilling temperatures and these temperatures have been shown to increase freeze resistance in other model *** this study,we examined whole-transcriptome gene expression patterns of young leaf tissue from cuttings of five different grapevine cultivars,exposed to chill and freeze shock,in order to understand the underlying transcriptional landscape associated with cold stress *** visible damage was observed when grapevine leaves were exposed to chilling temperatures while freeze temperatures resulted in variable damage in all *** differences in gene expression were observed between warm control conditions and all types of cold *** to chill stress(4°C)versus freezing stress(−3°C)resulted in very different patterns of gene expression and enriched pathway *** from the ethylene signaling,ABA signaling,the AP2/ERF,WRKY,and NAC transcription factor families,and starch/sucrose/galactose pathways were among the most commonly observed to be differentially *** leaves to chill temperatures prior to freezing temperatures resulted in slight buffering of gene expression responses,suggesting that differences between chill and freeze shock perception complicates identification of candidate genes for cold resistance in ***,the transcriptional landscape contrasts observed between low temperature and freezing stresses demonstrate very different activation of candidate pathways impacting grapevine cold response.

Immediate lymphatic reconstruction(ILR)has become increasingly utilized for the prevention of breast cancerrelated lymphedema(BCRL).A growing body of evidence has demonstrated the long-term efficacy of ILR in reducing the rate of *** certain risk factors for BCRL are well-recognized,such as axillary lymph node dissection,regional lymph node radiation,and elevated body mass index,other potential risk factors such as age and taxane-based chemotherapeutics remain under *** experience with ILR has highlighted an additional potential risk factor for *** anatomy,specifically compensatory lymphatic channels that bypass the axilla,may play a largely underrecognized role in determining which patients will develop BCRL after *** anatomic knowledge has primarily been based on cadaveric studies that predate the twentieth *** approaches to lymphatic anatomical mapping using indocyanine green lymphography have helped to elucidate baseline lymphatic anatomy and compensatory channels,and certain variations within these channels may act as anatomic risk ***,the purpose of this review was to highlight ways in which variations in lymphatic anatomy can inform the application and improve the accessibility of this *** ILR continues to advance and evolve,anatomical mapping of the lymphatic system is valuable to both the patient and lymphatic microsurgeon and is a critical area of future study.

Ethnobotanical database based screening and identification of potential plant species with antiplasmodial activity against chloroquine-sensitive(3D7) strain of Plasmodium falciparum

Objective: To evaluate the antiplasmodial activity of aqueous-methanolic plant extracts of nine plant species selected, based on ethnobotanical data. Methods: Based on ethnobotanical database, the selected plants were tested for their antiplasmodial activity against chloroquinesensitive(3 D7) strain of Plasmodium falciparum. Qualitative tests and high performance thin layer chromatography analysis were carried out to explore the phytocomponents present in the plant extracts. 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl antioxidant activity was also determined to check the antioxidant activity of the plant extracts. Results: Moringa oleifera(IC_(50): 3.906 μg/mL),Acalypha indica(IC_(50): 3.906 μg/mL), Hyptis suaveolens(IC_(50): 3.906 μg/mL), Mangifera indica(IC_(50): 4.150 μg/mL) and Averrhoa bilimbi(IC_(50): 4.881 μg/mL) showed very good antiplasmodial activity. Conclusions: Crude extracts of Mangifera indica and Hyptis suaveolens demonstrated the most efficacious antimalarial activity. A bioassay-guided fractionation of these extracts to identify the lead compound is proved to be useful. The results validate the traditional use of the selected plants as antimalarials.
