Traceability based on DNA analysis is attracting increasing interest due to the crisis of confidence that consumers show towards the products of animal origin. The present work discusses a genetic traceability system of meat and processed products from an historical Tuscan native pig breed, the Cinta Senese. The study is based on a panel of 8 ISAG (International Society for Animal Genetics) DNA microsatellite markers usage done both on pigs and derived products. The SSRs panel allowed us to obtain a unique fingerprint of the individuals to be used as a tracer “downstream” in the processed products. The molecular method used proved that the hams, analyzed just before commercialization, were obtained from Cinta Senese pigs and that the analyzed meat products derived from the Cinta Senese were produced at least with 95% of Cinta Senese meat. In perspective, the molecular testing could be introduced as a voluntarily adopted method for proving intrinsic quality of many regional food products.

AIM:To analyze the consistency of a potential involvement of the bacterium infection in the asthma disease. METHODS:A systematic literature search of the terms "Helicobacter pylori "(H. pylori) associated to "asthma" using PubM ed,Scopus and the Cochrane Library Central was performed. Reference lists from published articles were also employed. Titles of these publications and their abstracts were scanned in order to eliminate duplicates and irrelevant articles. The criteria of inclusion of the studies were:Original studies; the H. pylori diagnostic method has been declared; all ranges of age have been included in our study; a definitive diagnosis of asthma has been ***:We selected 14 articles in which the association between the two conditions was addressed. In 7 studies the prevalence of H. pylori infection in the asthma population and in the control population was made explicit. There was heterogeneity between the studies(Cohran's Q = 0.02). The H. pylori infection in the asthma population resulted 33.6%(518 of 1542),while in the control population resulted 37.6%(2746 of 7310)(relative risk of H. pylori infection in the asthma population = 0.87,95%CI:0.72-1.05,P = 0.015,random effects model). Instead,considering the morevirulent strains,the majority of studies showed an inverse relationship between the prevalence of H. pylori infection and ***:In our meta-analysis the prevalence of H. pylori infection in the asthma population resulted not statistically significant lower than in control population(P = 0.15). Instead,considering the more virulent strains,the majority of studies showed an inverse relationship between the prevalence of H. pylori infection and asthma.

Background: Metastatic breast cancer in BRCA 2 patients is lacking of target therapy studies. Case: We present a case of a 34-year-old woman affected by a recurrent metastatic breast cancer after 5 years treated with weekly nab-paclitaxel and three weekly Cisplatin obtaining a radiological complete response with 6 cycles. Conclusion: It is important to emphasize that patients with a molecular disorder who selected for “target” chemotherapy can obtain optimal response rate. Exploiting the mechanism of action of DNA damage in our favor, using cisplatin for example and basing on literature show the efficacy of using taxane in BRCA 2 patients, obtaining a very high response rate.

BACKGROUND Mediastinal leakage(ML) is one of the most feared complications of esophagectomy. A standard strategy for its diagnosis and treatment has beendifficult to establish because of the great variability in their incidence and mortality rates reported in the existing *** To assess the incidence, predictive factors, treatment, and associated mortality rate of mediastinal leakage using the standardized definition of mediastinal leaks recently proposed by the Esophagectomy Complications Consensus Group(ECCG).METHODS Seven Italian surgical centers(five high-volume, two low-volume) affiliated with the Italian Society for the Study of Esophageal Diseases designed and implemented a retrospective study including all esophagectomies(n = 501) with intrathoracic esophagogastric anastomosis performed from 2014 to *** MLs were defined according to the classification recently proposed by the *** Fifty-nine cases of ML were recorded, yielding an overall incidence of 11.8%(95%CI: 9.1%-14.9%). The surgical approach significantly influenced the occurrence of ML: the proportion of leakage was 10.5% and 9% after open and hybrid esophagectomy(HE), respectively, and doubled(20%) after totally minimally invasive esophagectomy(TMIE)(P = 0.016). No other predictive factors were found. The 30-and 90-d overall mortality rates were 1.4% and 3.2%,respectively; the 30-and 90-d leak-related mortality rates were 5.1% and 10.2%,respectively; the 90-d mortality rates for TMIE and HE were 5.9% and 1.8%,respectively. Endoscopy was the first-line treatment in 49% of ML cases, with the need for retreatment in 17.2% of cases. Surgery was needed in 44.1% of ML *** treatment had the lowest mortality rate(6.9%).
