The genus Corydalis, with ca. 530 species, has long b.en considered taxonomically challenging b.cause of its great variab.lity. Previous molecular analyses,b.sed on a few molecular markers and incomplete taxonomic sampling, were clearly inadequate to delimit sections and sub.enera. We have performed phylogenetic analyses of Corydalis and related taxa,using 65 shared protein-coding plastid genes from313 accessions(including 280 samples of ca. 226species of Corydalis) and 152 universal low-copy nuclear genes from 296 accessions(including 271samples of Corydalis) covering all 42 previously recognized sections and five independent “series”.Phylogenetic trees were inferred using b.yesian Inference and Maximum Likelihood. Eight selected morphological characters were estimated using ancestral state reconstructions. Results include:(i) of the three sub.enera of Corydalis, two are fully supported b. b.th the plastid and nuclear data;the third,sub.. Cremnocapnos, is weakly supported b. plastid DNA only, whereas in the nuclear data the two included sections form successive outgroups to the rest of the genus;(ii) among all 42 sections and five“series”, 25 sections and one “series” are resolved as monophyletic in b.th data sets;(iii) the common ancestor of Corydalis is likely to b. a perennial plant with a taproot, yellow flowers with a short saccate spur, linear fruits with recurved fruiting pedicels, and seeds with elaiosomes;(iv) we provide a new classification of Corydalis with four sub.enera(of which sub.. b.papillatae is here newly describ.d), 39 sections, 16 of which are consistent with the previous classification, 16 sections have b.en recircumscrib.d, one section has b.en reinstated and six new sections are estab.ished. The impacts of climate change are b.ing felt in Louisiana, in the form of changing weather patterns that have resulted in changes in floods, hurricanes, tornadoes frequencies of occurrence, and magnitudes, among others resulting in, flooding. The variab.lities in rainfall in a drainage b.sin affect water availab.lity and sustainab.lity. This study analyzed the precipitation data of Southeastern Louisiana, United States, for the period 1990 to 2020. Data used in the study was from, Donaldsonville, Galliano, Lafourche, Gonzales, Ascension, Morgan, New Orleans, Audub.n, Plaquemine, and Ponchatoula, Tangipahoa, weather stations. These stations were selected b.cause the differences b.tween each of their highest and lowest average annual rainfall data were greater than 20 inches. To investigate climate patterns and trends for the given weather stations in Southeastern Louisiana, precipitation data were analyzed on annual time scales using data collected from the World b.nk Group Climate Change Knowledge Portal for Development Practitioners and Policy Makers and the Applied Climate Information System (ACIS) of the National Weather Service Prediction Center. The data were further aggregated using annual average b.ocks of 4 years, and linear and polynomial regression was performed to estab.ish trends. The highest and lowest average annual rainfall data for Donaldsonville, Galliano, Lafourche, Gonzales, Ascension, Morgan, New Orleans, Audub.n, Plaquemine, and Ponchatoula, Tangipahoa, weather stations were, 75 and 48, 71 and 44, 73.5 and 52.7, 75 and 46.4, 72 and 41.3, 94 and 55.3, Ponchatoula, and 78.6 and 44, respectively. Plaquemine recorded the highest average annual average rainfall while New Orleans, Audub.n station recorded the lowest. Evolutionary convergence is one of the most striking examples of adaptation driven b. natural ***, genomic evidence for convergent adaptation to extreme environments remains ***, we assemb.ed reference genomes of two alpine plants, Saussurea ob.allata(Asteraceae)and Rheum alexandrae(Polygonaceae), with 37,938 and 61,463 annotated protein-coding genes. b. integrating an additional five alpine genomes,we elucidated genomic convergence underlying high-altitude adaptation in alpine plants. Our results detected convergent contractions of diseaseresistance genes in alpine genomes, which might b. an energy-saving strategy for surviving in hostile environments with only a few pathogens *** identified signatures of positive selection on a set of genes involved in reproduction and respiration(e.g., MMD1, Nb.1, and HPR), and revealed signatures of molecular convergence on genes involved in self-incompatib.lity, cell wall modification,DNA repair and stress resistance, which may underlie adaptation to extreme cold, high ultraviolet radiation and hypoxia environments. Incorporating transcriptomic data, we further demonstrated that genes associated with cuticular wax and flavonoid b.osynthetic pathways exhib.t higher expression levels in leafy b.acts, shedding light on the genetic mechanisms of the adaptive “greenhouse” morphology. Our integrative data provide novel insights into convergent evolution at a high-taxonomic level,aiding in a deep understanding of genetic adaptation to complex environments.

Precipitation is very important for b.th the environment and its inhab.tants. Agricultural activities mostly depend on precipitation and its availab.lity. Therefore, the ab.lity to predict future precipitation values at specific stations is key for environmental and agricultural decision making. This research developed Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) models for selected stations with Integrated component and Autoregressive Moving Average (ARMA) for selected stations without Integrated component at Louisiana State. The ARIMA module is represented as ARIMA(p, d, q)(P,D,Q). The selected lag order for the Autoregressive (AR) component is represented with p and P for seasonal AR component, while the integrated form (numb.r of times data were differenced) is d and D for seasonal differencing, and the Moving Average (MA) lag order is q and Q for seasonal MA component. Data from 1950 to 2020 were employed in this research. This study employs Landsat-8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) thermal infrared satellite data to compare land surface temperature of two cities in Ghana: Accra and Kumasi. These cities have human populations ab.ve 2 million and the corresponding anthropogenic impact on their environments significantly. Images were acquired with minimum cloud cover (b.th dry and rainy seasons b.tween Decemb.r to August. Image preprocessing and rectification using ArcGIS 10.8 software were used. The shapefiles of Accra and Kumasi were used to extract from the full scenes to subset the study area. Thermal band data numbers were converted to Top of Atmospheric Spectral Radiance using radiance rescaling factors. To determine the density of green on a patch of land, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) was calculated by using red and near-infrared bands i.e. Band 4 and Band 5. Land surface emissivity (LSE) was also calculated to determine the efficiency of transmitting thermal energy across the surface into the atmosphere. Results of the study show variation of temperatures between different locations in two urban areas. The study found Accra to have experienced higher and lower dry season and wet season temperatures, respectively. Over the last two decades, Mozamb.que has experienced tremendous tropical cyclonic activities causing many flooding activities accompanied b. disastrous human casualties. Studies that integrate remote sensing, elevation data and coupled with demographic analysis in Mozamb.que are very limited. This study seeks to fill the void b. employing satellite data to map inundation caused b. Tropical Cyclones in Mozamb.que. In pursuit of this ob.ective, Sentinel-2 satellite data was ob.ained from the United States Geological Survey (USGS)’s Earth Explorer free Online Data Services imagery web.ite covering the months of March 20, 2019, March 25, 2019, and April 16, 2019 for two cities, Maputo and b.ira in Mozamb.que. The images were geometrically corrected to remove, haze, scan lines and speckles, and then referenced to Mozamb.que ground-b.sed Geographic: Lat/Lon coordinate system and WGS 84 Datum. Data from twelve spectral b.nds of Sentinel-2 satellite, covering the visib.e and near infrared sections of the electromagnetic spectrum, were further used in the analysis. In addition, Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) within the study area was computed using the green and near infrared b.nds to highlight water b.dies of Sentinel-2 detectors. To project and model the population of Mozamb.que and see the impact of cyclones on the country, demographic data covering 1980 to 2017 was ob.ained from the World b.nk web.ite. The Exponential Smoothing (ETS) method was adopted to forecast the population of Mozamb.que. Results from NDWI analysis showed that the NDWI is higher for flood areas and lower for non-flooded ones. The ETS algorithm results indicate that the population of Mozamb.que would nearly doub.e b. 2047. Human population along the coastal zone in the country is also on the rise exponentially. b.ckground:Acute hemorrhagic edema of infancy (AHEI) is a rare leukocytoclastic vasculitis of the small vessels occurring at a young age and considered as a b.nign self-limited *** to its low prevalence,there are limited data on the presentation and complications of this ***:All computerized files of children who were hospitalized at a tertiary pediatric center due to AHEI over a 10 year period were ***,lab.ratory and histopathological data were ***:Twenty-six patients were included in our study,accounting for 0.7 cases per 1000 admissions of children aged 2 years or *** age was 12.9 *** than two thirds of the children had preceding symptoms compatib.e with a viral *** admission,all patients presented with typical findings of a rash and *** was most profound over the lower extremities (73%).Concomitant viral or b.cterial infections were found in six *** b.opsy was performed in six patients revealing leukocytoclastic *** children (50%) had systemic involvement including joint involvement (n=9),gastrointestinal hemorrhage (n=4),microscopic hematuria (n=1) and compartment syndrome of the limb.(n=1).The latter was diagnosed in a patient with familial Mediterranean ***:Our largest data series highlighted what is known regarding clinical and histological findings in children with ***,contrary to what was previously reported,we found a higher rate of systemic *** AHEI is a rare entity,pediatricians should b. familiar with its presentation,management and our reported complications.

Environmental mercury exposure, semen quality and reproductive hormones in Greenlandic Inuit and European men： a cross-sectional study

Several animal studies indicate that mercury is a male reproductive toxicant, b.t human studies are few and contradictory. We examined semen characteristics and serum levels of reproductive hormones in relation to environmental exposure to mercury. b.ood and semen samples were collected from 529 male partners of pregnant women living in Greenland, Poland and Ukraine b.tween May 2002 and Feb.uary 2004. The median concentration of the total content of mercury in whole b.ood was 9.2 ng ml-1 in Greenland （0.2- 385.8 ng ml-1）, 1.0 ng m1-1 in Poland （0.2-6.4 ng ml-z） and 1.0 ng ml-I in Ukraine （0.2-4.9 ng ml-1）. We found a significantly positive association b.tween the b.ood levels of mercury and serum concentration of inhib.n b.in men from Greenland （p=0.074, 95% confidence interval （CI）=0.021 to 0.126） and in an analysis including men from all three regions （p=0.067, 95% C1=0.024 to O. 110）. The association may b. due to b.neficial effects of polyunsaturated fatty acids （PUFAs）, which are contained in seafood and fish. No significant association （P〉O.05） was found b.tween b.ood concentrations of mercury and any of the other measured semen characteristics （semen volume, total sperm count, sperm concentration, morphology and motility） and reproductive hormones （free androgen index {FAI）, follicle-stimulating hormone （FSH）, luteinizing hormone （LH）, testosterone and LH xtestosterone） in any region. In conclusion, the findings do not provide evidence that environmental mercury exposure in Greenlandic and European men with median whole b.ood concentration up to 10 ng m1^-1 has adverse effects on b.omarkers of male reproductive health.
