Endemics and endangered species in the biodiversity hotspot of the Shada Mountains, Saudi Arabia

Shada Mountains in Saudi Arabia, separated by Maleel Wadi into twin mountains（i.e., Shada Alalah and Shada Asfal）, are rich in biodiversity. We investigated the diversity of endemics and endangered species of the mountains based on the data collected from 38 stands falling in 8 elevational zones ranging from 500 to 2215 m a.s.l. Results indicated that 495 plant species falling in 314 genera and 76 families occurred in the Shada Mountains, including 19 endemic species and 43 endangered species, and accounting for 22% of the total flora in Saudi Arabia. Canonical correlation analysis indicated that physiographic features, particularly altitude play an important role in the frequency and abundance of species. Endemics were not evenly distributed in the Shada Mountains and mostly restricted in the elevation zone of 1000–1500 or ＆gt;1500 m a.s.l. When the altitude reached up to 2000 m a.s.l., the endemics decreased substantially due to the significantly low temperature. The endangered species existed three different distribution patterns：（i） most endangered species distributed in the altitudes of 1000–1800 m a.s.l.;（ii） endangered trees, lianas, and shrubs occupied the altitudes 1000–1300 m a.s.l.; and（iii） endangered subshrubs and herbs inhabited the altitudes 1500–2100 m a.s.l. The results demonstrated that the biodiversity of endangered species in the Shada Mountains is high and undisturbed by invasive species, and protective measures should be taken against human disturbances to the small-scale hotspot.

In multicellular organisms, several biological processes control the rise and fall of life. Different cell types communicate and co-operate in response to different stimulus through cell to cell signaling and regulate biologic processes in the cell/organism. Signaling in multicellular organism has to be made very secretly so that only the target cell responds to the signal. Of all the biomolecules, nature chose mainly proteins for secret delivery of information both inside and outside the cell. During cell signaling, proteins physically interact and shake hands for transfer of secret information by a phenomenon called as protein protein interactions （ppIs）. In both, extra and intracellular signaling processes ppIs play a crucial role. ppIs involved in cellular signaling are the primary cause for cell proliferation, differentiation, movement, metabolism, death and various other biological processes not mentioned here. These secret handshakes are very specific for specific functions. Any alterations/malfunctions in particular ppIs results in diseased condition. An overview of signaling pathways and importance of ppIs in cellular function and possibilities of targeting ppIs for novel drug development are discussed in this review.

peer-to-peer(p2p)electricity trading is a significant research area that offers maximum fulfilment for both prosumer and *** also decreases the quantity of line loss incurred in Smart Grid(SG).But,uncertainities in demand and supply of the electricity might lead to instability in p2p market for both prosumer and *** recent times,numerous Machine Learning(ML)-enabled load predictive techniques have been developed,while most of the existing studies did not consider its implicit features,optimal parameter selection,and prediction *** order to overcome fulfill this research gap,the current research paper presents a new Multi-Objective Grasshopper Optimisation Algorithm(MOGOA)with Deep Extreme Learning Machine(DELM)-based short-term load predictive technique i.e.,MOGOA-DELM model for p2p Energy Trading(ET)in *** proposed MOGOA-DELM model involves four distinct stages of operations namely,data cleaning,Feature Selection(FS),prediction,and parameter *** addition,MOGOA-based FS technique is utilized in the selection of optimum subset of ***,DELM-based predictive model is also applied in forecasting the load *** proposed MOGOA model is also applied in FS and the selection of optimalDELM parameters to improve the predictive *** inspect the effectual outcome of the proposed MOGOA-DELM model,a series of simulations was performed using UK Smart Meter *** the experimentation procedure,the proposed model achieved the highest accuracy of 85.80%and the results established the superiority of the proposed model in predicting the testing data.

Often,catch and release regulations are meant to maximize a fisheries potential to create trophy fish.I evaluated adult Brown Trout populations at five locations within Rapid Creek within Rapid City,SD over a two-year *** each year,one of these locations was within a catch and release area,while two were *** 2012,density and biomass estimates were higher in a site located outside of the catch and release ***,size structure within the catch and release area was only significantly larger than one of the two sites outside of the regulation *** relative weight values were inversely related to density estimates,with the lowest density sites having the highest mean relative ***,a site outside of the catch and release area had the highest abundance and biomass estimates in *** cumulative length distribution was significantly different between the site within the catch and release area and the two located *** weight was significantly higher in the catch and release area than the two sites *** population characteristics within the catch and release area were not consistently better than outside,it is more likely that factors such as habitat and density dependence are impacting the Brown Trout population more than the regulation itself.

Measuring the amount of vegetation in a given area on a large scale has long been accomplished using satellite and aerial imaging *** methods have been very reliable in measuring vegetation coverage accurately at the top of the canopy,but their capabilities are limited when it comes to identifying green vegetation located beneath the canopy *** the amount of urban and suburban vegetation along a street network that is partially beneath the canopy has recently been introduced with the use of Google Street View(GSV)images,made accessible by the Google Street View Image *** green vegetation through the use of GSV images can provide a comprehensive representation of the amount of green vegetation found within geographical regions of higher population density,and it facilitates an analysis performed at the *** this paper we propose a fine-tuned color based image filtering and segmentation technique and we use it to define and map an urban green environment *** deployed this image processing method and,using GSV images as a high-resolution GIS data source,we computed and mapped the green index of Milwaukee County,a 3,082 km^(2) urban/suburban county in *** approach generates a high-resolution street-level vegetation estimate that may prove valuable in urban planning and management,as well as for researchers investigating the correlation between environmental factors and human health outcomes.
