In this study we investigate the HIV/AIDS epidemic in a population which experiences a significant flow of immigrants. We derive and analyze a mathematical model that describes the dynamics of HIV infection among the immigrant youths and how parental care can minimize or prevent the spread of the disease in the population. We analyze the model with both screening control and parental care, then investigate its stability and sensitivity behavior. We also conduct both qualitative and quantitative analyses. It is observed that in the absence of infected youths, disease-free equilibrium is achievable and is globally asymptotically stable. We establish optimal strategies for the control of the disease with screening and parental care, and provide numerical simulations to illustrate the analytic results.

Background:The commonly used intraocular lens(IOL)implantation modalities when there is a rent in a posterior capsule or lack of posterior capsular support includes iris fixated IOL,anterior chamber(AC)IOL,sutured and suture less trans-scleral fixated *** work was planned to evaluate the safety and efficacy of trans-scleral glued IOL ***:Retrospective study was undertaken with 28 patients of glued IOL fixation,performed by a single surgeon over a period of 4 *** pre-operative and post-operative data including visual acuity,intraocular pressures,associated ocular conditions and complications were collected and statistically ***:The mean age of males in our study group was 39.1±4.6 years and mean age of females were 37.9±7.5 *** IOL was implanted in 13 eyes with traumatic cataract with subluxation of 46.4%.The most common associated ocular condition was found to be a penetrating ocular trauma with corneal tear in three patients(10.6%).The mean pre-operative and post-operative Log MAR acuity was found to be 1.18 and 0.55 respectively,which was found to be statically significant with P value of *** five out of 28 patients(89%)of the study population had no postoperative ***:Glued IOL implantation technique has 89%of success rate and statistically significant improvement in visual acuity with no significant change in intraocular pressure.

目的:不同距离观看3D影像后调节幅度、集合近点(NPC)及近隐斜视和视力疲劳的症状分析。方法:前瞻性研究,包括30例青年。每人每天三次分别在特定距离和不同距离观看3D影像,并连续三天进行观察,每一距离使用相同视频,相同的时间和不同的屏幕大小。使用K-multimedia player 3D播放器。观看3D影响后立即记录立体视觉、调节幅度、调节近点及近隐斜视和视力疲劳症状等相关变量。分别使用TNO测量视功能,RAF尺测量调节幅度和集合近点,棱镜杆测量近隐斜视,封闭式问卷调查视力疲劳症状的发生情况。用描述性统计和配对t检验进行数据分析,定性数据采用卡方检测。结果:在40 cm,3 m和6 m处调节幅度分别减少了0.66 D,1.12 D和1.44 D,集合近点显著降低了0.63 cm,0.93 cm和1.23 cm,近隐斜视分别增加了0.87,2.74和2.2棱镜度。结果发现,大多数受试者在每一距离处都出现眼周疼痛,头痛和刺激等反应。在家庭环境中,头痛、盗汗、疲劳、刺激和恶心等症状会显著增加,此外,通过使用笔记本电脑观看3D可能会引起头痛和盗汗等相关不适症状。结论:观看3D前后、在三种不同距离处,调节幅度、集合近点及近隐斜视和视力疲劳的症状显著不同。在不同距离观看3D影像后,视力疲劳为主要症状。

This report provides an overall assessment of land fragmentation problems in East Africa. Many parts of East Africa have become highly fragmented, putting development systems and activities in these areas at risk of complete collapse. Land fragmentation occurs when land gets converted for agriculture, industrialization, or urbanization, invaded by non-local plants, or enclosed for individual use and by subdividing farmlands into subsequent smaller units called parcels with varying average farm sizes. Fragmentation results from inappropriate agricultural development processes and ineffective land use planning that fails to recognize how farmland is used, and the importance of its interconnected areas. Insecurity of tenure and resource rights are key factors in making this possible. Land fragmentation is one of the key reasons why the ability of most resources in East Africa becomes scarcer, and those remaining become “privatized” by more powerful community members—keen to maintain their access to them. Such individualistic attitudes are new and disadvantage the poorest even further by affecting the traditional customary safety nets and agricultural outputs. Neither the government nor customary governance systems effectively protect resource access for the poorest. This review summary report identifies the key causes, measures, and implications, government interventions, and the common remedies to land fragmentation problems in the East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania including neighboring Ethiopia, and the Sudan. The findings indicated from 2005 to 2015, the population kept increasing for all the named countries in East Africa with Rwanda and Uganda having a substantial increase in population density.
