Aniline oligomers have been widely used in many fields due to their excellent physicochemical properties. Owing to strong intermolecular interactions, their emission is alw.ys weakened or quenched when they are in high concentration or aggregated state, which greatly limits their fluorescent applications. Inspired by the concept of aggregation-induced emission(AIE), herein we introduced large steric groups onto the aniline oligomer to prevent the formation of packing structure. In particular, diphenyl vinyl group was bonded with oligomeric tetraaniline by a facile synthetic procedure with high yield. The obtained aniline oligomer derivative exhibited typical AIE features, which was also confirmed by density functional theoretical calculation. More importantly, this AIE oligomer was able to detect Fe^(3+) ions selectively and quantitatively. The fluorescence intensity decreased linearly along with the increment of Fe^(3+) concentration. Moreover, we demonstrated that this AIE oligomer could stain live bacteria, such as E. coli and S. aureus efficiently. All these results suggest that such a readily accessible and multifunctional tetraaniline derivative provides a new platform for the construction of fluorescent materials.

How can we best find project changes that most improve project estimates? Prior solutions to this problem required the use of standard software process models that may not be relevant to some new project. Also, those prior solutions suffered from limited verification (the only w.y to assess the results of those studies was to run the recommendations back through the standard process models). Combining case-based reasoning and contrast set learning, the w system requires no underlying model. Hence, it is widely applicable (since there is no need for data to conform to some software process models). Also, w’s results can be verified (using holdout sets). For example, in the experiments reported here, w found changes to projects that greatly reduced estimate median and variance by up to 95% and 83% (respectively).

Surgical outcomes for unilateral superior oblique palsy in Chinese population: a retrospective study

RNA interference（RNAi） is emerging as one of the most powerful technologies for sequence-specific suppression of genes and presents a great potential in biomedical applications ranging from gene analysis to diseases therapeutics. Considering the drawbacks of current si RNA delivery vehicles in biocompatibility and efficacy, the development of high efficient si RNA delivery nanocarrier associated with self-monitoring functionality is of great significance. Herein, by taking advantage of aggregation-induced emission luminogens（AIEgens）, a new generation of inorganic/organic core@shell nanocarrier that allowed efficient delivery and real-time monitoring of siRNA in living cells had been developed. The amine groups in the nanocarriers behaved as a proton-absorber and promoted the release of si RNA from endosome. The AIE properties provided a unique fluorescence imaging modality for long-term tracking and intracellular localization of si RNA during transfection. Comparing to the commercial si RNA transfection reagents, the present system displayed a pretty higher efficiency and reproducibility in terms of intracellular transfection and target down regulation with a much lower cytotoxicity.

AIM: To evaluate the outcome after surgery for unilateral superior oblique(SO) palsy in ***: The medical records of 39 patients that underwent surgery for unilateral SO palsy between January 2003 and December 2012 at Caritas Medical Centre, Hong Kong, were retrospectively reviewed. All surgeries were performed by a single surgeon. Pre-operative assessments for vertical deviation, cyclo-deviation, and Knapp’s classification were obtained to determine the nature and degree of surgical *** deviation was measured at 1wk; 1, 6mo and on last follow-up day post-operatively. Cyclo-deviation was measured on last follow-up day ***: During the 10 y period, 39 subjects were recruited. The most common etiology was congenital(94.9%). Knapp’s Type III(66.7%) and Type I(12.8%)classifications were the most common subtypes. To treat SO palsy, the most common surgical procedures were:isolated inferior oblique(IO) anteriorization(41.0%),isolated IO myectomy(10.3%), and isolated IO recession(10.3%). At 3.5 ±2.1y post-operatively, the vertical deviation was significantly reduced(15.1 ±6.2 PD versus0.5±1.4 PD, P without significant improvement in cyclo-deviation(P =0.5). Initial vertical deviation was correlated with cyclo-torsion(r =0.4, P =0.007). Those with over-correction had greater initial vertical deviation(19.4±7.2 PD versus 13.2±4.3 PD, P =0.003). After a single operation, 84.6% of subjects achieved a vertical deviation within ±3 PD.· CONCLUSION: The majority of subjects achieved corrected vertical deviation after a single surgery although there was no improvement in *** with over-correction of primary position deviation had greater preoperative vertical deviation and it may be related to simultaneous multiple muscle surgery.

Lead halide perovskites have some unique properties which are very promising for optoelectronic applications such as solar cells. LEDs and lasers. One important and expected application of perovskite halide semiconductors is solar cell operation including hot carriers. This advanced solar cell concept allows overcoming the Shockley-Queisser efficiency limit, thereby achieving energy conversion efficiency as high as 66% by extracting hot carriers. Understanding ultrafast photoexcited carrier dynamics and extraction in lead halide perovskites is crucial for these applications. Here, we clarify the hot carrier cooling and transfer dynamics in all-inorganic cesium lead iodide （CsPbI3） perovskite using transient absorption spectroscopy and Al2O3, poly（3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl）（P3HT） and TiO2 as selective contacts. we find that slow hot carrier cooling occurs on a timescale longer than 10 ps in the cases of CsPbI3/AI203 and CsPbI3/TiO2, which is attributed to hot phonon bottleneck for the high photoexcited carrier density. An efficient ultrafast hole transfer from CsPbI3 to the P3HT hole extracting layer is observed. These results suggest that hot holes can be extracted by appropriate selective contacts before energy dissipation into the halide perovskite lattice and that CsPbl3 has a potential for hot carrier solar cell applications.

Near-infrared and mid-infrared spectroscopies were currently used to analyze natural compounds. During the last ten years various multiblocks methods were developed such as Concatenated PLS, Hierarchical-PLS (H-PLS), and MultiBlock-PLS (MB-PLS). These three algorithms were used to analyze 55 lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) essential oil samples. The results obtained were compared to the ones obtained respectively in NIR and MIR ranges. The accuracies of the models depend on the spectroscopic technique, pretreatment and the PLS methods. The results showed that the choice of the factor numbers used to build the multiblock models was the most important parameter for the H-PLS and MB-PLS methods.
