An assessment of African lion Panthera leo sociality via social network analysis： prerelease monitoring for an ex situ reintroduction program

The wild population of the African lion Panthera leo continues to decline, requiring alternate conservation programs to be considered. One such program is ex situ reintroduction. Prior to release, longterm monitoring and assessment of behavior is required to determine whether prides and coalitions behave naturally and are sufficiently adapted to a wild environment. Social network analysis （SNA） can be used to provide insight into how the pride as a whole and individuals within it, function. Our study was conducted upon 2 captive-origin prides who are part of an ex situ reintroduction program, and 1 wild pride of African lion. Social interactions were collected at all occurrence for each pride and categorized into greet, social grooming, play, and aggression. Betweenness centrality showed that offspring in each pride were central to the play network, whereas degree indicated that adults received （indegree） the greatest number of overall social interactions, and the adult males of each pride were least likely to initiate （outdegree） any interactions. Through the assessment of individual centrality and degree values, a social keystone adult female was identified for each pride. Social network results indicated that the 2 captive-origin prides had formed cohesive social units and possessed relationships and behaviors comparable with the wild pride for the studied behaviors. This study provided the first SNA comparison between captive-bred origin and a wild pride of lions, providing valuable information on individual and pride sociality, critical for determining the success of prides within an ex situ reintroduction program.

Integrated Modelling of Microstructure Evolution and Mechanical Properties Prediction for Q&P Hot Stamping Process of Ultra‑High Strength Steel

High strength steel products with good ductility can be produced via Q&P hot stamping process,while the phase transformation of the process is more complicated than common hot stamping since two-step quenching and one-step carbon partitioning processes are *** this study,an integrated model of microstructure evolution relating to Q&P hot stamping was presented with a persuasively predicted results of mechanical *** transformation of diffusional phase and non-diffusional phase,including original austenite grain size individually,were considered,as well as the carbon partitioning process which affects the secondary martensite transformation temperature and the subsequent phase ***,the mechanical properties including hardness,strength,and elongation were calculated through a series of theoretical and empirical models in accordance with phase ***,a modified elongation prediction model was generated ultimately with higher accuracy than the existed Mileiko’s *** the end,the unified model was applied to simulate the Q&P hot stamping process of a U-cup part based on the finite element software LS-DYNA,where the calculated outputs were coincident with the measured consequences.

Assessment of VIIRS 375 m active fire using tropical peatland combustion algorithm applied to Landsat-8 over Indonesia’s peatlands

VIIRS 375 m active fire data(VNP14IMG),the highest spatial resolution available cost-free fire product,were assessed for representing fire in typical degraded tropical peatlands in *** results of applying the Tropical Peatland Combustion Algorithm to Landsat-8(ToPeCAl-L8)daytime imagery were utilised as the fire *** permit the comparison of non-simultaneous VNP14IMG and ToPeCAl-L8,peatland fire propagation speeds resulting from previous study using TET-1 data in Central Kalimantan’s peatlands were *** peatland fires were still within 750 m from their source over 15 h under uniform conditions,except for very large *** detection rates of nighttime VNP14IMG compared with ToPeCAl-L8 showed about 80%agreement for small fire areas(<14 ha).For fires larger than 14 ha,a dissolved 375 m buffer(cluster buffer)of VNP14IMG active fires with an integration of nighttime and daytime acquisitions,produced a probability of detection up to 90%.These results generated a recommendation for implementing cluster buffer analysis and integration of nighttime and daytime analysis of VNP14IMG data for better accuracy in fire detection for ground fire *** also demonstrate the utility of the ToPeCAl-L8 algorithm with VIIRS 375 m active fire data.

Assessing availability, phytotoxicity and bioaccumulation of lead to ryegrass and millet based on 0.1 mol/L Ca(NO_3)_2 extraction

This study was conducted to assess availability, phytotoxicity and bioaccumulation of lead （Pb） to ryegrass （Lolium perenne L.） and millet （Echinochloa crusgalli） based on the 0.1 mol/L Ca（NO3）2 extraction. Effect of soil properties on availability, phytotoxicity and bioaccumulation of Pb to the two plants was also evaluated. Five soils with pH values varying from 3.8 to 7.3, organic carbon （OC） contents from 0.7% to 2.4%, and clay contents from 11.6% to 35.6% were selected. Soils were spiked with Pb to achieve a range of concentrations： 250, 500, 1000, 3000 and 5000 mg/kg. Pb availability in the spiked soils was estimated by extracting soil with 0.1 mol/L Ca（NO3）2. The results indicate that plants yield decreased with decreasing soil pH and increased with increasing soil clay and OC content. Negative relationship between available Pb and the relative dry matter growth （RDMG） of the two plants were significantly related. Available Pb used to assess EC20 （20% effective concentration） and EC50 （50% effective concentration） of millet was 119 and 300 mg/kg, respectively. Available Pb used to assess EC20 and EC50 of ryegrass was 63 and 157 mg/kg, respectively. Bioaccumulation, expressed as bioconcentration factors of Pb, was inversely related to soil pH, soil OC and clay content. Strong relationships were found between available lead and uptake by the two plants （P was 0.92 and 0.95 respectively）. In general, 0.1 mol/L Ca（NO3）2 available Pb may be used to assess the availability, phytotoxicity and bioaccumulation of lead to the two plants tested.

The investigative evidence and emerging concepts in neurogastroenterology implicate dysfunctions at the levels of the enteric and central nervous systems as underlying causes of the prominent symptoms of many of the functional gastrointestinal disorders. Neurogastroenterological research aims for improved understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology of the digestive subsystems from which the arrays of functional symptoms emerge. The key subsystems for defecation-related symptoms and visceral hyper- sensitivity are the intestinal secretory glands, the musculature and the nervous system that controls and integrates their activity. Abdominal pain and discomfort arising from these systems adds the dimension of sensory neurophysiology. This review details current concepts for the underlying pathophysiology in terms of the physiology of intestinal secretion, motility, nervous control, sensing function, immuno-neural communication and the brain-gut axis.

Bacteria of the Streptomyces genus are well-known producers of secondary metabolites of high medical *** contributed nearly 60%of current antibiotics(i.e.,vancomycin,daptomycin and tetracycline),as well as antifungals,antiparasitics(avermectins),anticancer drugs(doxorubicin),immunosuppressants and others[1].Therefore,in the past several decades,Streptomyces bacteria or the therein involved biosynthetic pathways have long been the central topic of strain improvement,metabolic engineering,and *** of this research has focused on regulatory elements;however,it has been a challenge due to the complex regulatory network that controls Streptomyces secondary metabolism and its complex fungus-like morphological differentiation[2].On agar plates,production of secondary metabolites coincides with the switch from vegetative growth(substrate mycelium)to aerial mycelium hyphae and subsequent spore formation,whereas in a liquid culture,early stationary phase when cells stop growing marks the initiation of secondary metabolism.
