Quantitative characterization of polyacrylamide–shale interaction under various saline conditions

Interaction of polymer-containing injected fluids with shale is a widely studied phenomenon, but much is still unknown about the interaction of charged polyacrylamides such as anionic and cationic polyacrylamides with shale. The nature of interaction of charged polyacrylamides with shale is not well understood, especially from the perspective of assessing the potential for polyacrylamides to cause formation damage. Zeta potential and rheological measurements were made for chattanooga and Pride Mountain shales suspended in polyacrylamide solutions with and without inorganic salts and tetramethyl ammonium chloride（TMAc）. The change in zeta potential and viscosity with time was recorded. The magnitude of decrease in the absolute value of zeta potential with time is indicative of adsorption of polymer on the surface of shale and serves as a measure of the extent of polymer interaction with shale. The salts that were used in this study are potassium chloride（Kcl）, sodium chloride（Na cl）. This study quantified the interaction of anionic and cationic polyacrylamide with different North American *** the experimental results, it was determined that the polyacrylamides can interact strongly with shale, particularly the cationic polyacrylamide. The objective of this study was to determine the extent of interaction of anionic and cationic polyacrylamide with each shale sample in the presence of additives such as salts.

INTRODUcTION Machine learning(ML)techniques1 are becoming a major area of study in psychiatry,as ML possesses the theoretical capacity to draw conclusions based on a broad range of data once the system has been taught through a process of trial and ***,and arguably most importantly,ML can do so more quickly and accurately than clinicians.2 Several studies have demonstrated accuracy through the use of ML in various populations and geographic locations,further perpetuating the perceived need to incorporate ML into ongoing studies.

Natural ventilation is particularly important for residential high-rise buildings as it maintains indoor human comfort without incurring the energy demands that air-conditioning *** improve a building’s natural ventilation,it is essential to develop models to understand the relationship between wind flow characteristics and the building's *** more effort is still needed for developing such reliable,accurate,and computationally economical models instead of currently the most popular physics-based models such as computational fluid dynamics(cFD)*** paper,therefore,presents a novel model developed based on physics-based modelling and a data-driven approach to evaluate natural ventilation in residential high-rise *** model first uses cFD to simulate wind pressures on the exterior surfaces of a high-rise *** the surface pressures have been obtained,multizone modelling is used to predict the air change per hour(AcH)for different flats in various ***-driven prediction models are then developed using data from the simulation and deep neural networks that are based on mean absolute error,mean absolute percentage error,and a fusion algorithm *** data-driven models are used to predict the AcH of 25 *** results from multizone modelling and data-driven modelling are *** results imply a high accuracy of the data-driven prediction in comparison with physics-based *** fusion algorithm-based neural network performs best,achieving 96%accuracy,which is the highest of all models *** study contributes a more efficient and robust method for predicting wind-induced natural *** findings describe the relationship between building design(e.g.,plan layout),distribution of surface pressure,and the resulting AcH,which serve to improve the practical design of sustainable buildings.

Background： To induce peroxisomal proliferator-activated receptor α（PPARα） expression and increase milk fat utilization in pigs at birth, the effect of maternal feeding of the PPARα agonist, clofibrate（2-（4-chlorophenoxy）-2-methyl-propanoic acid, ethyl ester）, on fatty acid oxidation was examined at ful-term delivery（0 h） and 24 h after delivery in this *** group of pigs（n = 10） was delivered from pregnant sows fed a commercial diet with or without 0.8% clofibrate for the last 7 d of gestation. Blood samples were col ected from the utero-ovarian artery of the sows and the umbilical cords of the pigs as they were removed from the sows by c-section on day 113 of ***： HPLc analysis identified that clofibric acid was present in the plasma of the clofibrate-fed sow（~4.2 μg/m L）and its offspring（~1.5 μg/m L）. Furthermore, the maternal-fed clofibrate had no impact on the liver weight of the pigs at 0 h and 24 h, but hepatic fatty acid oxidation examined in fresh homogenates showed that clofibrate increased（P 〈 0.01）^14c-accumulation in cO2 and acid soluble products 2.9-fold from [1-^14c]-oleic acid and 1.6-fold from[1-^14c]-lignoceric acid respectively. correspondingly, clofibrate increased fetal hepatic carnitine palmitoyltransferase（cPT）and acyl-co A oxidase（AcO） activities by 36% and 42% over controls（P 〈 0.036）. The m RNA abundance of cPT I was 20-fold higher in pigs exposed to clofibrate（P 〈 0.0001） but no differences were detected for AcO and PPARα m RNA between the two ***： These data demonstrate that dietary clofibrate is absorbed by the sow, crosses the placental membrane, and enters fetal circulation to induce hepatic fatty acid oxidation by increasing the cPT and AcO activities of the newborn.

DNA topoisomerase IIα(170 kDa,TOP2α/170)induces transient DNA double-strand breaks in proliferating cells to resolve DNA topological entanglements during chromosome condensation,replication,and ***,TOP2α/170 is a prominent target for anticancer drugs whose clinical efficacy is often compromised due to *** many resistance mechanisms have been defined,acquired resistance of human cancer cell lines to TOP2αinterfacial inhibitors/poisons is frequently associated with a reduction of Top2α/170 expression *** studies by our laboratory,in conjunction with earlier findings by other investigators,support the hypothesis that a major mechanism of acquired resistance to TOP2α-targeted drugs is due to alternative RNA processing/***,several TOP2αmRNA splice variants have been reported which retain introns and are translated into truncated TOP2αisoforms lacking nuclear localization sequences and subsequent dysregulated nuclear-cytoplasmic *** addition,intron retention can lead to truncated isoforms that lack both nuclear localization sequences and the active site tyrosine(Tyr805)necessary for forming enzyme-DNA covalent complexes and inducing DNA damage in the presence of TOP2α-targeted ***,these truncated TOP2αisoforms result in decreased drug activity against TOP2αin the nucleus and manifest drug ***,the complete characterization of the mechanism(s)regulating the alternative RNA processing of TOP2αpre-mRNA may result in new strategies to circumvent acquired drug ***,novel TOP2αsplice variants and truncated TOP2αisoforms may be useful as biomarkers for drug resistance,prognosis,and/or direct future TOP2α-targeted therapies.

In the present study, the effect of 5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleoside （AIcAR） on long-chain fatty acid oxidation by hepatocytes isolated from suckled neonatal pig liver （a low ketogenic and lipogenic tissue） was tested Incubation of hepatocytes with AIcAR （0.5 raM） in the presence of ] mM of carnitine and 10 mM of glucose for 1 hour at 37℃ had no significant effect on total [1-14c]-palrnitate （0.5 mM） oxidation （14cO2 and 14c-Acid soluble products （ASP））. consistent with the fatty acid oxidation, carnitine palmitoyltransferase I activity and inhibition of its activity by malonyI-coA （10 MM） assayed in cell homogenate also remained constant. However, addition of AIcAR to the hepatocytes decreased 14cO2 production by 18% compared to control （p 〈 0.06）. The reduction of labeled carboxylic carbon accumulated in c02 caused a significant difference in distribution of oxidative products between 14c02 and 14c-ASP （p 〈 0.03） compared with the control. It was also noticed that acetyI-coA carboxylase （Acc） was increased by AIcAR （p 〈 0.03）, indicating that Acc might drive acetyI-coA toward fatty acid synthesis pathway and induce an increase in distribution of fatty acid carbon to 14c-ASP. Addition of insulin to hepatocyte incubations with AIcAR did not change the oxidative product distribution between cO2 and ASP, but further promoted Acc activity. The increased Acc activity was 70% higher than in the control group when citrate was absent in the reaction medium and was 30% higher when citrate was present in the medium. Our results suggest that AIcAR may affect the distribution of metabolic products from fatty acid oxidation by changing Acc activity in hepatocyte isolated from suckled neonatal piglets; however, the basis for the increase in Acc activity elicited by AIcAR is not apparent.
