In this paper, we present a novel and efficient scheme for detection of P300 component of the event-related potential in the Brain Computer Interface (BCI) speller paradigm that needs significantly less EEG channels and uses a minimal subset of effective features. removing unnecessary channels and reducing the feature dimension resulted in lower cost and shorter time and thus improved the BCI implementation. The idea was to employ a proper method to optimize the number of channels and feature vectors while keeping high accuracy in classification performance. Optimal channel selection was based on both discriminative criteria and forward-backward investigation. Besides, we obtained a minimal subset of effective features by choosing the discriminant coefficients of wavelet decomposition. Our algorithm was tested on dataset II of the BCI competition 2005. We achieved 92% accuracy using a simple LDA classifier, as compared with the second best result in BCI 2005 with an accuracy of 90.5% using SVM for classification which required more computation, and against the highest accuracy of 96.5% in BCI 2005 that used SVM and much more channels requiring excessive calculations. We also applied our proposed scheme on Hoffmann’s dataset to evaluate the effectiveness of channel reduction and achieved acceptable results.

BACKGrOUND：rheum ribes *** a plant native to China,Iran,Turkey,India,and a few other *** activity is considered to be one of its important properties according to various systems of traditional *** increasing rate of bacterial resistance to antibiotics has led to treatment failure in some cases of shigellosis in children,and underlines a need for safe,efficient and valid ***：The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of *** syrup as a complementary medicine for treatment of shigellosis in ***,SETTING,PArTICIPANTS AND INTErVENTIONS：This randomized,doubleblind,placebocontrolled trial started with a group of 150 children aged between 12–72 months with suspected Shigella *** syrup or placebo syrup was administered to the intervention and control groups,respectively for 5 *** addition,the standard antibiotic treatment（ceftriaxone for the first 3 days and cefixime syrup for 2 further days）was administered to both *** OUTCOME MEASUrES：Body temperature,abdominal pain,need for antipyretics,defecation frequency,stool volume and consistency and microscopic stool examination were recorded as outcome *** observed adverse effects were also ***：Mean duration of fever and dia.r.ea in the *** group was significantly lower than that in the placebo group（P=0.016 and 0.001,respectively）.In addition,patients in the *** group showed shorter duration of need for antipyretics and shorter duration of abdominal pain（P=0.012 and 0.001,respectively）.However,there were no significant differences between the two groups regarding the microscopic stool ***,no adverse effect was ***：*** syrup can be recommended as a complementary treatment for children with Shigella dysentery.

Medical diagnostic X-rays are the largest manmade source of ionizing radiation received by the members of the general public. The aim of this study was to evaluate the radiographic reject/repeat rate and also to determine dose to the patients from radiographic rejects/repeats in radiology centers of Urmia University of Medical Sciences. During a 4 month period the most frequently examinations were chosen in three radiology centers. A form was designed as a.r.ject/repeat analysis form for radiographers to complete each time a film was rejected by radiologists or repeated. The collected data were compiled at the end of each week and entered into a computer for analysis at the end of study. The results of this study showed that highest and lowest repetition rates were for pelvis, 14.01% and upper limb, 4.17%, respectively. The main reasons of repetition of radiographs were due to exposure (54%) and positioning (18%) errors. The average repeat rate in all three hospitals was 7.20%. It was found that human error has important role to repetition of radiographs. It is demonstrated that those patients having repeated radiographs received an average of 3.23 Gy·cm2. Based on the findings of this study it must be remembered that the highest repetition rate was for pelvis. Considering the radiosensitive organs related to pelvis especially in pedia.r.c patients some special considerations must be applied for pelvis examinations.

AIM:To determine the outcome of esophageal cancer patients referred for palliative care,in Gorgan and Gonbad gastrointestinal clinics,northeast of Iran. METHODS:This cross-sectional study was done on inoperable esophageal cancer cases referred to gastrointestinal clinics in Gorgan and Gonbad city(2005-2006) . Demographic data were collected during the procedure and cases were followed up every one month. Improvement proportion was calculated with 95% confidence interval,to determine the rate of improvement. Survival analysis and Kaplan-Meier methods were used to estimate the duration of palliative care effectiveness. rESULTS:We recruited 39 cases into the study. Squamous cell carcinoma was the most prevalent(92.3%) . The middle third of the esophagus was involved predominantly(51.3%) . Dilation was the most preferred method(89.7%) and stenting was done in 4 cases. Decreasing dysphagia score was not related to palliation method or pathology type of carcinoma. Age of the patients was significantly related to the improvement of dysphagia score. Mean survival time was 137.6 d and median was 103 d. CONCLUSION:results of this study showed a low survival rate after palliative care in esophageal cancer cases despite dysphagia scores' improvement after dilating or stenting.

Single Drop Microextraction of Biphenyl and Biphenyl Oxide in Aqueous Samples by Gas Chromatography-Flame Ionization Detection

In this work, biphenyl and biphenyl oxide were extracted by direct single drop microextraction (di- rect-SDME) and analyzed by gas chromatography flame ionization detection. The extraction occurred by suspending a 7 μL drop of toluene (as extracting solvent) containing acetonaphton (as internal standard) from the tip of a microsyringe in direct-SDME, respectively. The effect of different parameters such as nature of extraction solvent, microdrop and sample temperatures, stirring rate, microdrop and sample volumes, ionic strength and extracting time on the extraction efficiency of the analytes were investigated and optimized. Under optimized conditions the detection limits (S/N = 3) of the biphenyl and biphenyl oxide were 1.80 ± 0.03 and 1.10 ± 0.02 μg?mL–1, respectively. Good linearity was obtained for both analytes using extraction techniques with the correlation coefficients at least 0.997 and the relative standard deviations (r.S.D.) were in the range of 1% - 3%. The percent recoveries of the analytes from spiked water samples were near to 100%

Dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) followed by gas chromatography–flame ionization detection (GC-FID), as a simple, rapid and efficient method, was developed for the determination of amitraz in honey samples. This method involves the use of an appropriate mixture of the extraction and disperser solvents for the formation of a cloudy solution in 5.0 mL aqueous sample containing amitraz. After extraction, phase separation was performed by centrifugation and the concentrated amitraz in the sedimented phase was determined by gas chromatography—flame ionization detection (GC-FID). Some important parameters such as the type and volume of extraction and disperser solvents, and the effect of pH and salt on the extraction recovery of amitraz were investigated. Under the optimum conditions (13 μL of carbon tetrachloride as an extraction solvent, 1 mL of acetonitrile as a disperser solvent, no salt addition and pH 6) preconcentration factor and the extraction recovery were 955 and 95.5%, respectively. The linear range was 0.01 - 1.0 mg?kg–1 and the limit of detection was 0.0015 mg?kg–1. The relative standard deviation (rSD, n = 4) for 0.1 mg?kg–1 of amitraz was 3.2%. The recoveries of amitraz from honey samples at the spiking levels of 0.1 mg?kg-1 were 78.8 and 98.2%. The results indicated that DLLME is an efficient technique for the extraction of amitraz in honey samples.

Ignoring the importance of receiving booster doses of vaccines in vast majority of adults could result in their lack of immunity against tetanus and diphtheria. In this prospective cohort study all immunocompetent adults ≥ 40 years old who were admitted for any reason during the time period of the survey were enrolled and antibody levels against tetanus and diphtheria were measured. 84 patients (48%) were 40 - 60 years old and 93 (52%) subjects aged older than 60 years. In general, anti-tetanus antibody titer was range) in 83 people (46.9%). For anti-diphtheria antibody, 74 (41.8%) were considered non-immune. Of all people whose tetanus antibody level was ry of childhood diphtheria and tetanus immunization and 64 had unknown vaccination history. Among people with diphtheria antibody levels ry of childhood vaccination and 56 (75.6%) had unknown history.

The objective of this study was to compare the in vitro digestibility of wheat straw by rumen microorganisms of water buffalo of Khuzestan in Iran and Holstein *** vitro digestibility of dry matter(DM) and neutral detergent fiber(NDF) was measured by procedure of Tilley and *** results of this experiment indicated that the DM digestibility of wheat straw by rumen microbial population of Khuzestani buffalo was higher than that by rumen microorganism of Holstein cow(49.35 and 40.14 g/100 g,respectively)(Pral detergent fiber digestibility of wheat straw was 46.71 and 30.89 g/100 g for rumen microbial population of buffalo and cow,respectively(Prefore,under the same diet,the DM and NDF digestibility by rumen microorganism of Khuzestani buffalo was 1.22 and 1.51 folds higher than Holstein cow,respectively.

The reason of this research is to identify the favorable areas for copper, zinc, and lead mineralization in the western part of the 1:100,000 Ta.r.sh geological Sheet in the Urmia-Dokhtar structural zone of Iran. Effective data layers for mineralization, such as geology, geochemistry, structures, and satellite images, were analyzed and then integrated using the AHP-OWA method to identify favorable areas. Geochemical stream samples were analyzed by univariate, multivariate, and classical statistical methods and revealed the first, second, and third class anomalies for copper, zinc, and lead in the study region. Detection of hydrothermal alteration zones by Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and reflection radiometer (ASTEr) satellite imagery in various algorithms, such as relative absorption Band Depth (rBD), Minimum Noise Fraction (MNF), and Least Square Fit (LS-Fit), shows that argillic, phyllic, propylitic, and iron oxide alterations develop around the faults in the area under study. The favorable areas for copper, zinc, and lead mineralization have been identified by a combination of evidence maps of lithology, faults, dikes, geochemistry, and alteration data layers. Field observations in the area under study have confirmed the results.
