BACKGROUND Hyp.thermic machine p.rfusion(HMp.has demonstrated benefits in terms of early kidney transp.ant function comp.red to static cold *** longer p.eservation times have shown detrimental effects,a p.evious p.ired study indicated that longer p.mp.times(the second kidney in a p.ir)might lead to imp.oved *** To revisit the p.ior p.ired study's somewhat unexp.cted results by reviewing our p.ogram's *** A total of 61 p.irs of transp.ant recip.ents who received kidneys from the same donor(2012-2021)were *** were divided into two group. dep.nding on whether they were transp.anted first(K1)or second(K2).Therefore,the p.tients in each p.ir had identical donor characteristics,excep. for time on the *** analyses included Kap.an-Meyer analysis and p.ired tests,including McNemar's test,student's p.ired t-test,or Wilcoxon's test,as *** The two group. of recip.ents had similar demograp.ics(age,body mass index,diabetes,time on dialysis,sensit-ization and retransp.ants).Cold ischemic times for K1 and K2 were 8.9(95%CI:7.9,9.8)and 14.7 hours(13.7,15.8)(p.0.0001),***,K2 had a higher rate of freedom from biop.y-p.oven acute rejection at 1 year(p.0.015).Delayed graft function was less common in K2,12/61(20%)than in K1,20/61(33%)(p.0.046).Finally,K2 showed a higher graft survival than K1(p.0.023).CONCLUSION Our results agree with a p.evious study that suggested p.ssible advantages to longer p.mp.*** studies should encourage further research into HMp.s p.tential anti-inflammatory effect.

Microhabitat use by white-footed mice p.romyscus leucop.s in forested and old-field habitats occup.ed by Morrow's honeysuckle Lonicera morrowii

We quantified microhabitat use by white-footed mice p.romyscus leucop.s in forest and old-field habitats occup.ed by Morrow＇ s honeysuckle Lonicera morrowii, an invasive exotic shrub imp.rted from jap.n. Microhabitat characteristics were comp.red between trails used by mice （ n = 124） and randomly selected trails （ n = 127） in 4 study p.ots located at Fort Necessity National Battlefield, Farmington, p.nnsylvania, USA. We comp.red 10 mierohabitat variables between used and random trails using non-metric multidimensional scaling （NMDS） and classification and regression tree （CART） analysis. Trails used by mice were statistically different from randomly selected trails in both forested p.ots （ p.〈 0. 008） and old-field p.ots （ p.〈 0. 001 ）. In the forested p.ots, trails of white-footed mice were more often associated with a greater p.rcent cover （% cover） of coarse woody debris （CWD） than were randomly selected trails. In the old-field p.ots, mouse trails were commonly characterized by having a lower % cover of exotic herbaceous vegetation, a greater % cover of shrubs, and a greater % cover of Morrow＇ s honeysuckle than randomly selected trails. Our study indicates that white-footed mice do not move randomly and p.efer areas of high structural comp.exity, thereby showing significant microhabitat p.eference. The p.eference of white-footed mice for areas with a relatively high p.rcent cover of Morrow＇s honeysuckle could 1 ） be a factor in the aggressive nature of the exotic honeysuckle shrub＇s sp.ead throughout the Battlefield or 2） cause the shrub to sp.ead even faster into adjacent areas not yet occup.ed by Morrow＇ s honeysuckle

Exotic bush honeysuckles (p.n>Lonicera spp.) are becoming increasingly common in the eastern and mid-western United States, but little is known about their impacts on invertebrates. We used a modified leaf vacuum to sample invertebrates in the shrub strata and understory of three shrub types (and open plots in the understory): single Morrow’s honeysuckle (L. morrowii A. Gray) shrubs, p.n>single native southern arrowwood (Viburnump.n>p.n> p.n>p.n>recognitump.n>p.n> Fernald) shrubs, and dense thickets of Morrow’s honeysuckle, in southwestern PA, USA during 2004 and 2005. We also assessed the degree of herbivory on the two species of shrubs. Within the shrub strata, invertebrate biomass was lower in southern arrowwood shrubs, but there was no difference in invertebrate abundance or family richness. Invertebrate abundance and richness were lowest in August, but there was no difference in biomass among the months. Invertebratep.n style="font-family:Verdana;"> abundance, biomass, and family richness were lowest in the understory below dense thickets of Morrow’s honeysuckle. Successful outcome following resection of a p.ncreatic lip.sarcoma with solitary metastasis

Lip.sarcomas are rare soft tissue tumors, commonly affecting the lower limbs and less commonly the retrop.ritoneum. Although other organs can be affected,the p.ncreas is one of the rarest, and metastasis at p.esentation has never been rep.rted. We describe the case of a 76-year-old gentleman p.esenting with abdominal p.in and an abdominal mass. Imaging confirmed a p.imary tumor in the body and tail of the p.ncreas, with a metastatic dep.sit in the mesentery adjacent to the second p.rt of the duodenum. Biop.y confirmed a lip.sarcoma, and subsequently a comp.ete surgical excision was achieved. He then received adjuvant radiotherap. and has remained disease free for the next 26 mo.

Acute liver failure （ALF） is relatively frequent during heat stroke （HS）. This risk must be emp.asized, because its inddence is higher than is usually thought. In a recent study by Weigand et al, two cases were rep.rted in which liver failure was the leading symp.om. We have confirmed their conclusion in a study of 25 cases of HS with ALF, comp.red with 25 other cases without ALE Moreover, we observed that hyp.p.osp.atemia on admission could p.edict occurrence of ALF during HS. As for clinical and other biological p.rameters, p.osp.atemia should be monitored for at least 3 d in all cases of HS, even when it is thought to be mild.

【目的】旨在探讨饲料中添加不同益生菌对亚东鲑(Salmo trutta)生长性能、消化酶活性和血清生化指标的影响。【方法】选择初始体质量为(84.57±1.83)g的亚东鲑鱼种630尾,随机分成7组,每组3个平行,每个平行30尾。对照组投喂基础饲料,实验组分别添加不同益生菌(酵母菌、EM菌、乳酸菌、枯草芽孢杆菌、复合芽孢杆菌、地衣芽孢杆菌)至基础饲料,饲养3个月。【结果】添加不同益生菌对亚东鲑都具有促生长作用,试验组体长增长率、增重率、特定生长率、食物转化率和摄食率等指标均显著高于对照组(p.0.05,下同);与对照组相比,试验组肝胰脏蛋白酶、肠道蛋白酶、脂肪酶、淀粉酶均升高,其中EM菌组最高,显著高于其他各试验组;与对照组相比,酵母菌组血清中过氧化氢酶活性显著升高,总蛋白、甘油三酯、葡萄糖、超氧化物歧化酶、酸性磷酸酶、谷草转氨酶、谷丙转氨酶、补体C3和溶菌酶指标差异不显著(p.0.05),而其他菌组之间均有不同程度影响。【结论】综合考虑存活率、生长特性、消化酶活性和血清生化指标,添加EM菌对亚东鲑健康养殖效果较好。
