The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between pre-prostatectomy urinary engrailed-2 (eN2), a transcription factor secreted by prostate cancer cells, with tumour volume and pathological characteristics in resected prostate specimens. First pass urine samples (10 ml) without prior prostatic massage were collected and stored at –80°C. eN2 levels were measured using an enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay. Tumour volume in the prostatectomy specimens was determined histologically. 57 men undergoing RP in one urological cancer network were evaluated. eN2 was detected in 85% of RP patients. eN2 correlated with tumour volume (but not total prostatic volume) in a linear regression analysis, with increasing pathological T stage and margin positivity. Using three “cutoff levels” of tumour volume (0.5 ml, 1.3 ml and 2.5 ml) to define “significant disease”, men with “significant disease” had markedly higher levels of urinary eN2 (p Levels of urinary eN2 may be useful in predicting tumour volume in men with prostate cancer by potentially identifying men with small volume “insignificant” disease. This study justifies a larger multicentre evaluation of urinary eN2 levels as a biomarker of PC significance using cancer volume, pathological and PSA criteria.

In this report, we describe morphological characteristics of a dicephalic Steppes Ratsnake （elaphe dione） collected from the wild in 2011 in South Korea. The specimen has two heads and two long necks. Unlike normal individuals, the dicephalic snake has divided ventral scales under the necks of the bifurcated columns. The snout- vent length （SVL） and overall total length of the individual are shorter than those of normal snakes of the same age. Nevertheless, the counts of nine different scale types that are often used for classification are all within the ranges of normal individuals. As far as we know, this is the first detailed morphological description of a dicephalic e. dione in the scientific literature.

We investigated whether inhibiting phosphorylated p70S6K （p-p70S6K） suppresses the proliferation and growth of noninvasive low-grade urothelial carcinoma （LG-URCa） in vitro and whether p-p70S6K can serve as a predictive biomarker for the recurrence of noninvasive LG-URCa of the bladder in patients. We constructed a tissue microarray （TMA） for 95 LG-URCa and 35 benign urothelium samples and performed immunohistochemical staining for p-p70S6K and p-4e-BP1. A Cox regression model was used to investigate the predictive factors for recurrence of LG-URCa. We investigated the dose-dependent antiproliferative effect of rapamycin, its antiproliferative effect and the growth-inhibition effect of p70S6K siRNA transfection in RT4 and 253J cell lines. The pT1 staged group （P 〈 0.05; hazard ratio （HR）, 2.415） and the high p-p70S6K staining group （P 〈 0.05; HR, 2.249） were independent factors for predicting recurrence. Rapamycin inhibited RT4 and 253J cell proliferation in a dose-dependent manner （r = -0.850, P 〈 0.001 in RT4 cells; r = -0.835, P 〈 0.001 in 253J cells）. RT4 and 253J cell proliferation and growth were inhibited by the transfection of p70S6K siRNA and rapamycin, respectively （P 〈 0.05）. Transfection of p70S6K siRNA resulted in inhibitory effects on cell proliferation and growth that were similar to those of rapamycin. Our results suggest that inhibiting p70S6K phosphorylation is important to prevent recurrence and that p70S6K phosphorylation can be used as a molecular biomarker to predict recurrence of certain LG-URCa of the bladder.

Hot deformation behavior, microstructural evolution and flow softening mechanism were investigated in Ti-46A1-8Nb alloy via isothermal compression approach. The true stress-strain curves exhibited typical work hardening and flow softening, in which the dependence of the peak stress on temperature and strain rate was obtained by hyperbolic sine equation with Zener-Hollomon （Z） parameter, and the activation energy was calculated to be 446.9 kJ/mol. The microstructural analysis shows that the alternate dark and light deformed ribbons of Al-rich and Nb-rich regions appeared and were associated with local flow involving solute segregation. The Al segregation promoted flow softening mainly arising from the recrystaUization of V phase with low stacking fault energy. The coarse recrystallized 7 and several massive phase were observed at grain boundaries. While in the case of Nb segregation, t/B2 phase harmonized bending of lamellae, combined with the growth of recrystallized γ grains and α ＋ β ＋ γ→α＋ γ transition under conditions of temperature and stress, leading to the breakdown of α2/γ lamellar colony. During the hot compression process, gliding and dissociation of dislocations occurred in γ phase that acted as the main softening mechanism, leading to extensive γ twins and cross twins in α/γ lamellae and at grain boundaries. In general, homogeneous microstructure during the hot defor- mation process can be obtained in TiAl alloy with high Nb addition and low Al segregation. The deformation substructures intrinsically promote the formability of Ti--46Al-8Nb alloy.

The dynamic nature of online systems requires companies to be proactive with thwarting information security threats, and to follow a systematic way for managing and evaluating the security of their online services. The existence of security standards is an important factor that helps organisations to evaluate and manage security by providing guidelines and best practices that enable them to follow a standard and systematic way to protect their e-Business activities. However, the suitability of available information security standards for Small and Medium e-Business enterprises (e-SMe) is worth further investigation. In this paper three major security standards including Common Criteria, System Security engineering-Capability and Maturity Model and ISO/IeC 27001 were analysed. Accordingly, several challenges associated with these standards that may render them difficult to be implemented in e-SMe have been identified.

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of root cutting stress on the dynamic changes of endogenous hormone content and growth characteristics of Quercus variabilis roots,and to explore the physiological role of endogenous hormones in regulating root-crown interactions in the short *** morphological characteristics and endogenous hormone contents of normal roots(no root cutting,CK)and cut roots(cut by 1/3 of the length of the main root,RP)were determined by liquid chromatography,which was combined with mass spectrometry at different levels of different developmental *** results showed that the root growth indexes and root endogenous hormones in the RP group were superior to those in the CK *** comprehensive analysis of endogenous hormones,it was found that the crosstalk of IAA,ja,ABA and SA could activate the root growth *** the root cutting treatment,the root growth of Quercus variabilis seedlings could compensate for the inhibition of taproot growth by promoting lateral root *** growth and development of compensatory lateral roots contribute to the increase the total root length of plants,thus promoting the absorption of water and *** is speculated that plant hormones may be the key factors affecting their development,but this is not only related to the content of a single hormone,but more importantly,it is the interaction between various hormones.

Spam e-mail has a significant negative impact on individuals and organizations, and is considered as a serious waste of resources, time and efforts. Spam detection is a complex and challenging task to solve. In literature, researchers and practitioners proposed numerous approaches for automatic e-mail spam detection. Learning-based filtering is one of the important approaches used for spam detection where a filter needs to be trained to extract the knowledge that can be used to detect the spam. In this context, Artificial Neural Networks is a widely used machine learning based filter. In this paper, we propose the use of a common type of Feedforward Neural Network called Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) for the purpose of e-mail spam identification, where the weights of this network model are found using a new nature-inspired metaheuristic algorithm called Biogeography Based Optimization (BBO). experiments and results based on two different spam datasets show that the developed MLP model trained by BBO gets high generalization performance compared to other optimization methods used in the literature for e-mail spam detection.

Recently there have been exciting research advances in neuroprotective therapies for ischemic stroke. In the past, the search for neu- roprotective agents has been fraught with failure at the clinical trials stage due to numerous factors, including subject heterogeneity and improper therapeutic windows （Tymianski, 2017）. Moreover, it is becoming clearer that the complex and evolving pathobiology of stroke requires multimodal therapeutic approaches capable of modulating the numerous axes that contribute to ischemia/reperfusion damage, rather than targeting a single axis （Bernstock et al., 2018a）. With the success of recent endovascular thrombectomy （eVT） trials, it has been suggested that clinical trials of eVT with adjunct neuroprotection can overcome past difficulties and maximize the effect size by using imaging to reduce patient heterogeneity （i. e., selecting those with large vessel occlusions, small ischemic cores, and good collateral circulation）, restoring perfusion using better eVT devices, and enrolling patients in the correct therapeutic window （i.e., when they still have salvageable brain tissue）（Tymianski, 2017）. Considering the opportunity that this represents for new, better clinical trials of neuroprotective agents, the search is on for high-potential compounds that may be investigated in these future studies.
