Recent deep neural network(DNN)based blind image quality assessment(BIQA)approaches take mean opinion score(MOS)as ground-truth labels,which would lead to cross-datasets biases and limited generalization ability of the DNN-based BIQA *** work validates the natural instability of MOS through investigating the neuropsychological characteristics inside the human visual system during quality *** combining persistent homology analysis with electroencephalogram(EEG),the physiologically meaningful features of the brain responses to different distortion levels are *** physiological features indicate that although volunteers view exactly the same image content,their EEG features are quite *** on the physiological results,we advocate treating MOS as noisy labels and optimizing the DNN based BIQA model with earlystop *** results on both innerdataset and cross-dataset demonstrate the superiority of our optimization approach in terms of generalization ability.

Windsurfing vs kitesurfing:Injuries at the North Sea over a 2-year period

AIM To analyze all windsurfing and kitesurfing(kiteboarding) injuries presented at our coastal hospital over a 2-year period. METHODS Twenty-five windsurfers(21 male; aged 31 ± 8 years) and 32 kitesurfers(23 male; aged 29 ± 11 years) presented at our hospital during the 2-year study period. Various injury data were recorded,including transport to hospital and treatment. After a median follow-up of 16 mo(range,7-33 mo),18 windsurfers(72%) and 26 kitesurfers(81%) completed questionnaires on the trauma mechanisms,the use of protective gear,time spent on windsurfing or kitesurfing,time to return to sports,additional injuries,and chronic disability. RESULTS Most patients sustained minor injuries but severe injuries also occurred,including vertebral and tibial plateau fractures. The lower extremities were affected the most,followed by the head and cervical spine,the upperextremities,and the trunk. The injury rates were 5.2 per 1000 h of windsurfing and 7.0 per 1000 h of kitesurfing(P = 0.005). The injury severity was the same between groups(P = 1.0). Less than 30% of the study population used protective gear. Kitesurfers had a higher number of injuries,and required transport by ambulance,inpatient hospital stay and operative treatment more often than windsurfers,but these differences were not statistically significant(P > 0.05). The median time to return to windsurfing and kitesurfing was 5 and 4 wk,respectively(P = 0.79). Approximately one-third of the patients in each group experienced chronic *** Kitesurfing results in a significantly higher injury rate than windsurfing in the same environmental conditions but the severity of the injuries does not differ.

Microbes that are beneficial to plants are used to enhance the crop growth,yield and are alternatives to chemical *** and Bacillus are the predominant plant growth-promoting fungi and *** objective of this study was select,characterize,and evaluate isolates of Trichoderma *** Bacillus *** from the northern region of Sinaloa,Mexico,and assess their effect on growth promotion in maize(Zea mays L.).In greenhouse conditions,four Trichoderma isolates and twenty Bacillus isolates,as well as two controls,were tested in a completely randomized design with three *** selected the two best strains of Trichoderma and Bacillus:TB=Trichoderma asperellum,TF=Trichoderma virens,B14=Bacillus cereus sensu lato and B17=Bacillus cereus,which were evaluated in the field in a completely randomized blocks in factorial arrangement design with three replicates applying different rates of nitrogen fertilizer(0,150 kg N/ha,and 300 kg N/ha).Treatments 5(B17=***)and 11(TF=***)both fertilized with 150 kg N/ha showed similar yields and they did not reveal significant differences from the treatments fertilized with 300 kg N/*** indicated that treatment 5(B17=*** with 150 kg N/ha)and treatment 11(TF=*** with 150 kg N/ha)were efficient as growth promoters,by not showing significant differences in root volume and dry weight of *** results indicated a reduction of 50% in the rate of nitrogen to fertilizer required for maize(Zea mays L.)*** microorganisms Trichoderma and Bacillus could be an alternative to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers in maize.

New Discovery of the Early Cretaceous Volcanic Rocks on the Barton Peninsula,King George Island,Antarctica and Its Geological Significance

Ages determined with the 40Ar/39Ar isotopic system affirms the Early Cretaceous volcanic activity in the Barton Peninsula, King George Island, Antarctica. Two specimens of basaltic andesite collected from the lower-most volcanic sequence of the peninsula were irradiated and analyzed in different experiments, yielding an identical age spectrum, and two magmatic thermal events of the Early Cretaceous (120.4±1.6 ma, 119±1 ma) and Early Tertiary (53.1±1.5 ma, 52±1 ma) are distinguished. The former is interpreted to represent the primary cooling age of basaltic andesite, whereas the latter is the thermal reset age caused by the intrusion of granitic pluton. These new ages clearly indicate that volcanism was active during the Early Cretaceous on the Barton Peninsula and that intensive hydrothermal alteration and mineralization of Mesozoic volcanic rocks resulted from Tertiary magmatism.

Aim： To investigate whether the biological process of superparamagnetic iron oxide （SPIO）-labeled human mesenchymal stem cells （hMSCs） may be monitored non-invasively by using in vivo magnetic resonance （MR） imaging with conventional 1.5-T system examinations in corpus cavernosa of rats and rabbits. Methods： The labeling efficiency and viability of SP10-labeled hMSCs were examined with Prussian blue and Tripan blue, respectively. After SPIO-labeled hMSCs were transplanted to the corpus cavernosa of rats and rabbits, serial T2-weighted MR images were taken and histological examinations were carried out over a 4-week period. Results： hMSCs loaded with SPIO compared to unlabeled cells had a similar viability. For SPIO-labeled hMSCs more than lx 105 concentration in vitro, MR images showed a decrease in signal intensity. MR signal intensity at the areas of SPIO-labeled hMSCs in the rat and rabbit corpus cavernosa decreased and was confined locally. After injection of SPIO-labeled hMSCs into the corpus cavernosum, MR imaging demonstrated that hMSCs could be seen for at least 12 weeks after injection. The presence of iron was confirmed with Prussian blue staining in histological sections. Conclusion： SP10-labeled hMSCs in corpus cavernosa of rats and rabbits can be evaluated non-invasively by molecular MR imaging. Our findings suggest that MR imaging has the ability to test the long-term therapeutic potential of hMSCs in animals in the setting of erectile dysfunction.
