Mechanical properties and microstructure evolution of Mg-8.4 wt pet Li alloy have been investigated. The superplastic elongation-to-failure 920% at 573 K and initial strain rate of 5 x 10(-4) s(-1) at low nominal stress 2 MPa has been demonstrated. It was shown through optical microstructure that the average grain sizes at gauge length section before and after superplastic tension and at grip section were 7.5 mu m, 31.7 mu m and 20 mu m respectively, indicating significant deformation induced grain growth and static grain growth. Comparison of experiment data with published data for superplastic Mg-Li alloys shows that fine grain size and about 50 to 50 phase ratio contribute to achieving the largest superplasticity. Some related research works in other alloys are compiled and further evidences to such theoretic argument are provided.

Thirteen kinds of binary and ternary complexes of rare earth (Gd, Eu,Tb) with ortho (para) aminobenzoic acid and 1.10--phenanthroline were synthesized and characterized. The phosphorescence spectra and lifetimes of gadolinium complexes were measured and the lowest triplet state energies of ligands and the energy transfer efficiencies between ligands were determined. The luminescence properties and intramolecular energy transfer of these complexes were studied in details.

The morphology of tin iodide deposits grown during gas-solid transformation demonstrated long-range correlations. These iodide deposits include basically two kinds of forms: fractal structure and dendritic-like structure. The fractal structure was a sort of tin iodide cluster aggregation. Each fractal structure was composed of numerous tin iodide clusters that connected or disconnected with each other. The average size of fractal structures is between 10 and 22 mu m. The dendritic-like structure was also composed of many tin iodide clusters. These clusters aggregated and formed a dendritic pattern.

The interface of the SiCp/Al composites produced by powder metallurgy processing involving hot-pressing above the matrix solidus temperature has been investigated by means of TEM. Several kinds of interfaces between the reinforcements and the matrix in the composite, including the clean interfaces, the faceted interfaces and the slight reaction interfaces, are presented. And most of interfaces belong to the slight reaction interfaces which are composed of the Al with different orientation from the Al matrix near the interface zone and particle-like substances produced by MgAl2O4 spinels and impurities.

AIM To improve the Cultivation efficiency and yield of human liver cell line *** High--density cultivation of CL--l onmicrocarriers was carried out with periodicobservation of their growth and *** specific functions of human liver cell werealso *** Cells of CL-1 cell line grew well onmicrocarrier Cytodex--3 and on the 7th day thepeak was reached. The amount of CLI cells was2.13 x 10’ and the total amount of albuminsynthesis reached 71 .23 ig, urea synthesis23 .32 mg and diazepam transformation 619 .7 ugrespectively. The yield of CL-l on microcarrierswas 49.3 times that of conventional *** amounts of albumin synthesis, ureasynthesis and diazepam transformation were39.8 times, 41 .6 times and 33.3 times those ofconventional Cultivation, *** The human liver cell line CL--1 canbe Cultivated to a high density with Cytodex--3and has better biological functions. High-densityCultivation of CLI on microcarriers can act asthe biological material of bioartificial liver.

Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) is thought to be a specific mediator of TGF-β profibrogenic effect, but the role of CTGF in the transformation of renal fibroblasts to myofibroblasts, which are the most important host cells in the renal chronic fibrosis, is still unknown. Aimed at observing the biological effect of CTGF, we set up a cell line overexpressing CTGF, and analyzed the amount of myofibroblast and the level of extracellular matrix Collagen Ⅲ mRNA in cultured cells. Our results show that CTGF can directly induce myofibroblasts formation, and increase the level of Collagen Ⅲ mRNA. This suggests that CTGF may be a novel pharmacotherapeutical target protein for the interference with renal fibrosis, thus providing useful theoretic possibility for clinical prevention of chronic progression of kidney disease.

AIM To observe the nitric oxide synthase (NOS) distribution in the esophageal mucosa andhemodynamic changes in cirrhotic *** NOS distribution in the loweresophagus of rats with carbon tetrachlorideinduced cirrhosis was assessed by using NADPHdiaphorase (NADPH-d ) histochemical *** of NO in serum were measured byfluorometric assay. Mean arterial pressure(MAP), cardiac output (CO), cardiac index (CI),splanchnic vascular resistance (SVR ), andsplanchnic blood flow (SBF ) were alsodetermined using 5’CO-labeled *** Intensity of NOS staining in theesophageal epithelium of cirrhotic rats wassignificantly stronger than that in *** was a NOS--positive staining area in theendothelia of esophageal submucosal vessels ofcirrhotic rats, but the NOS staining was negativein normal rats. NO concentration of serum incirrhotic rats were significantly higher incomparison with that of controls. Cirrhotic ratshad significantly lower MAP, SVR and higherSBF than those of the *** SPlanchnic hyperdynamiccirculatory state was observed in rats withcirrhosis. The endogenous NO may play animportant role in development of esophagealvarices and in changes of hemodynamics incirrhosis.
