Chirostoma jordani is a native annual species inhabiting lacustrine waters of the Central Mexico *** is widely distributed and is currently facing high environmental *** experi-ments were performed to study the reproductive performance of this *** of the experiments were conducted in 270-L indoor recirculation *** males and one female at the first stage of reproduction were included in each test.A photoperiod of 14 light hours and 10 dark hours was *** a fifth experiment,10 females and 15 males were kept in an outdoor 3,000-L recirculation tank under natural *** number of spawns,fertilised eggs and 30-day-old juveniles were counted and the survival rate was *** results indicated significant differences(P<0.05)between *** spawn numbers and greater egg production were observed under controlled photoperiod,and higher numbers of juveniles and a higher survival rate were observed under natural *** trials exhibited different patterns of egg produc-tion during the *** egg production in the natural-photoperiod trials followed a polynomial curve *** contrast,the trials under the controlled photoperiod showed an irregular pattern of increases and decreases in egg production.

Using Lean Manufacturing(LM)tools in production processes is crucial for companies’economic,environmental,and social sustainability *** study shows a structural equation model(SEM)that shows the relationship between LM Tools like Kaizen(KAI),Gemba(GEM),Value Stream Mapping(VSM)and Key Performance Indicator(KPI)with Economic Sustainability(ECS).Seven hypotheses were evaluated with data from 179 responses to a questionnaire about the Mexican maquiladora industry,showing that these variables are *** a 95%confidence level,the model was evaluated using the partial least squares *** findings indicate that the relationships between KAI and GEM and KAI and VSM have the strongest relationship,followed by VSM and ECS;however,VSM has the strongest effect on *** on these findings,it is recommended that managers adopt a continuous improvement(KAI)approach based on working directly on the shop floor(GEM and VSM)to support their decisions regarding economic growth(ECS).

Recently,the authors proposed a low-cost approach,named Optimization Approach for Linear Systems(OPALS)for solving any kind of a consistent linear system regarding the structure,characteristics,and dimension of the coefficient matrix *** results obtained by this approach for matrices with no structure and with indefinite symmetric part were encouraging when compare with other recent and well-known *** this work,we proposed to extend the OPALS approach for solving the Linear Least-Squares Problem(LLSP)and the Minimum Norm Linear System Problem(MNLSP)using any iterative low-cost gradient-type method,avoiding the construction of the matrices AT A or AAT,and taking full advantage of the structure and form of the gradient of the proposed nonlinear objective function in the gradient *** combination of those conditions together with the choice of the initial iterate allow us to produce a novel and efficient low-cost numerical scheme for solving both ***,the scheme presented in this work can also be used and extended for the weighted minimum norm linear systems and minimum norm linear least-squares *** include encouraging numerical results to illustrate the practical behavior of the proposed schemes.

Detection of Progesterone Receptor as a Method of Diagnosing Mammary Cancer in Female Dogs

Introduction: Canine mammary gland tumor is the most common type of neoplasia in non-ovariectomized bitches. Approximately 50% of tumors are malignant. Neoplasms originating from the mammary gland represent the most common neoplastic disease in canines in Veterinary Medicine. Aim: Relate the expression of the receptor to progesterone (PR) with the tumor stage of canine mammary carcinoma. Material and Methods: Analytical-cross-sectional study, samples of paraffinized tumor tissue obtained from 30 canine patients with breast cancer were used. The expression of PR was performed by immunohistochemical labeling, using murine anti-PR (anti-PR Biocare brand). A descriptive analysis was carried out with the results using the SPSS program. Results: The predominant histological subtype of breast cancer was tubular carcinoma with 12 patients, followed by papillary cystic carcinoma with 6 patients, solid carcinoma 5, carcinosarcoma 4 and comedocarcinoma 3. There was a significant trend between breast cancer subtypes, histological grade G1. Among the histopathological findings, the degree of invasion is related to the presence of tumor cells in adjacent lymph nodes, which is why it is a prognostic indicator. The expression of PR in the tumor tissue samples it was 42.8% positive versus 57.14% negative, of which 75% correspond to G1, 8.3% to G2 and 16.6% to G3. With respect to the relationship of the expression of PR vs type of tumor, it was found that 50% correspond to tubular carcinoma, 33.3% to papillary cystic carcinoma, 8.3% to solid carcinoma and 8.3% to comedocarcinoma. Conclusion: The hormone receptor was negative in more than half of the patients and histological grade is significantly associated with tumor subtypes, this study emphasizes the need to introduce receptor testing into our routine clinical practice to offer the best treatment for breast cancer.

Tomato crops(Physalis ixocarpa Brot.)are produced in almost all Mexico,part of the United States and Central *** the tomato production has suffered economic losses of 70%to 80%due the presence of yellowing and floral abortion,whose causal agent has been attributed to the presence of phytoplasma;an insect vector of these phytoplasma is Bactericera cockerrelli *** control of this psyllid has lacked effectiveness because their spatial distribution is unknown within tomato *** study aimed to determine the spatial distribution of populations of nymphs of *** in four tomato plots,the determination of the spatial distribution was performed by means of *** experimental semivariogram was determined to adjust to a theoretical model(spherical,exponential or Gaussian)through the program Variowin 2.2,the adjustment was validated with the method of cross-validation and aggregation maps of the pest were obtained through Kriging with Surfer 9.0 *** short-term time-space stability of the pest was determined through the tests Crámer-von *** results showed that populations of nymphs of *** have a distribution of aggregate type,which was corroborated by density *** are not present in 100%of the surface of the experimental plots,which helps to direct control measures on specific areas of infestation.

Estimating the geographic range of a threatened shark in a data-poor region： Cetorhinus maximus in the South Atlantic Ocean

The distribution of the planktivorous basking shark Cetorhinus maximus is influenced by zooplankton abundance at small scales and temperature at medium scales in the North Atlantic. Here, we estimate the distribution of basking sharks on South Atlantic continental shelves, and the relative importance of chlorophyll concentration, as a proxy for zooplankton abun- dance, and temperature in determining habitat suitability for basking sharks at large scales. We used maximum entropy （MaxEnt） and maximum likelihood （MaxLike） species distribution modelling to test three hypotheses： the distribution of basking sharks is determined by （1） temperature, （2） chlorophyll concentration, or （3） both chlorophyll and temperature, while considering other factors, such as oxygen and salinity. Off South America, basking shark habitat included subtropical, temperate and cool-temperate waters between approximately 20°S and 55°S. Off Africa, basking shark habitat was limited to cool-temperate waters off Namibia and southern South Africa. MaxLike models bad a better fit than MaxEnt models. The best model included minimum chlorophyll concentration, dissolved oxygen concentration, and sea surface temperature range, supporting hypothesis 3. However, of all variables included in the best model, minimum chlorophyll concentration had the highest influence on basking shark distribution. Unlike the North Atlantic distribution, the South Atlantic distribution of basking sharks includes subtropical and cool-temperate waters. This difference is explained by high minimum chlorophyll concentration off southern Brazil as compared to North Atlantic subtropical areas. Observations in other regions of the world support this conclusion. The highest habitat suitability for basking sharks is located close to nearshore areas that experience high anthropogenic impact [Current Zoology 61 （5）： 811-826, 2015].

We present results of a long-term study aimed to optimize Nile tilapia O. niloticus production in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) in México City. Three experiments were evaluated: 1) fry production;2) production of masculinized fries;and 3) assessment of growth under three different densities (10, 30 and 75 fish/m3). The broodstock produced on average 2400 ± 600 fry every 15 days during six months, with a total production of 28,800 ± 2000. One hundred percent males were produced in 274-L raceways in an eight-week period. The obtained results in fish production in the RAS system indicated variations related to density. A daily growth rate of 3.6 g/day was registered with a density of 10 fish/m3, 0.9 g/day in 30 fish/m3 and 0.4 g/day in 75 fish/m3. This information could be useful for production purposes in this type of systems.

Real-world evidence (RWE) is clinical evidence on a medical product’s safety and efficacy that is generated using real-world data (RWD) resulting from routine healthcare delivery. This study evaluates the clinical efficacy of amoxicillin + clavulanic acid in children with pharyngitis, acute otitis, or acute rhinosinusitis with suspected bacterial origin under normal office and home conditions. Methods: This was a real-life, prospective, observational, pharmacovigilance study. It included children of both sexes between 2 and 12 years old, with a diagnosis of Rhinopharyngitis (tonsillitis), Acute Otitis Media and Rhinosinusitis. The main effectiveness variable evaluated was reduction and time to resolution of symptoms. All patients received Amoxicillin/Clavulanic Acid suspension 600 mg/42.9 mg/5 mL at a dose of 90 mg/Kg/day in two doses, every 12 hours for 7 days. The evaluations were carried out at the beginning, at 72 hours (3rd day) and at 7 days. All patients underwent culture and antibiogram. Results: The majority of cultures were negative for pathogenic germs, suspecting unidentifiable germs, or viral etiology despite the rigorous selection of subjects following validated scores. The most frequently isolated germ was Staphylococcus aureus;growth of gram-negative bacteria was reported in 33.33% of the cultures. There was a significant improvement in symptoms in children with tonsillitis and rhinosinusitis from the first 72 hours of treatment, persisting until the 7 days. In the otitis media group, returning to normal by the tenth day. During the conduction of this investigation, no adverse effects associated with the prescribed therapy were reported.
