Spatial distribution and behavior of dissolved selenium speciation in the South China Sea and Malacca Straits during spring inter-monsoon period

Selenium(Se)has been recognized as a key trace element that is associated with growth of primary producers in *** March and May 2018,surface water(67 samples)was collected and measured by HG-ICP-MS to investigate the distribution and behavior of selenite[Se(Ⅳ)],selenate[Se(Ⅵ)]and dissolved organic selenides(DOSe)concentrations in the Zhujiang River Estuary(ZRE),South China Sea(SCS)and Malacca Straits(MS).It showed that Se(Ⅳ)(0.14–3.44 nmol/L)was the dominant chemical species in the ZRE,related to intensive manufacture in the watershed;while the major species shifted to DOSe(0.05–0.79 nmol/L)in the MS,associated with the wide coverage of peatland and intensive agriculture activities in the Malaysian *** SCS was identified as the northern and southern sections(NSCS and SSCS)based on the variations of surface *** insignificant variation of Se(IV)in the NSCS and SSCS was obtained in March,potentially resulting from the high chemical activity and related preferential assimilation by phytoplankton ***,the lower DOSe concentrations in the SSCS likely resulted from higher primary production and utilization during *** May,the concentration of Se(Ⅳ)remained low in the NSCS and SSCS,while DOSe concentrations increased notably in the SSCS,likely due to the impact of terrestrial inputs from surface current reversal and subsequent *** a global scale,DOSe is the dominant Se species in tropical oceans,while Se(Ⅳ)and Se(Ⅵ)are major fractions in high-latitude oceans,resulting from changes in predominated phytoplankton and related biological assimilation.

AIM To analyze the bacterial community structure and distribution of intestinal microflora in people with and without metabolic syndrome and combined these data with clinical indicators to determine relationships between selected bacteria and metabolic diseases. METHODS Faecal samples were collected from 20 patients with metabolic syndrome and 16 controls at Cangnan People's Hospital, Zhejiang Province, China. DNA was extracted and the V3-V4 regions of the 16 S rRNA genes were amplified for high throughput sequencing. Clear reads were clustered at the 97% sequence similarity level. α and β diversity were used to describe the bacterial community structure and distribution in patients. Combined with the clinical indicators, further analysis was *** Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria, Fusobacteria were the dominant phyla, and Prevotella, Bacteroides and Faecalibacterium was the top three genera in faecal samples. α diversity analysis showed that the species richness of metabolic syndrome samples(group D) was significantly higher than the control(group C)(P < 0.05), and the microbial diversity of group C was greater than that of group D. According to the principal co-ordinates analysis, the samples of group C clustered more tightly, indicating that the distribution of bacteria in healthy patients was similar. The correlation analysis showed that alkaline phosphatase was negatively correlated with the abundance of Prevotella(P < 0.05). There was a negative correlation between low-density lipoprotein and the abundance of Ruminococcus(P < 0.05) and a positive correlation between the high-density lipoprotein and the abundance of Ruminococcus(P < 0.05). The total protein and the alanine aminotransferase was positively correlated with the abundance of Peptostreptococcus(P < 0.05). Objective:This study evaluated the safety and preliminary efficacy of vorolanib,a novel tyrosine kinase inhibitor,for treatment of patients with advanced solid ***:During dose escalation,patients received increasing doses of oral vorolanib(50-250 mg once daily)in cycles of four weeks for up to one *** dose expansion,patients received recommended doses(100 and 200 mg)in 4-week *** primary endpoint was to determine the safety and maximum tolerated dose and/or the recommended phase II dose(RP2 D).The severity and type of adverse drug reactions(ADRs)were assessed using the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events version *** second endpoint was preliminary efficacy in terms of objective response and progression-free survival(PFS).Results:No dose-limiting toxicity occurred during dose escalation(50-250 mg).Five(26.3%)patients in the escalation cohort(n=19)and 12(48.0%)in the expansion cohort(n=25)experienced grade 3 *** most common ADRs were hair color changes,fatigue,portal hypertension,hypertriglyceridemia,and *** dose expansion,the patients treated with 200 mg and 100 mg(once daily)showed an objective response rate of 22.2%and 5.9%,respectively;the disease control rate was 88.9%and 73.3%,respectively;the median PFS was9.9[95%confidence interval(95%CI):7.4-not reached]months and 3.8(95%CI:1.9-not reached)months,***:Oral vorolanib at a dose of 200 mg(once daily)exhibited an acceptable safety profile and favorable clinical benefit for patients with advanced solid *** RP2 D for vorolanib was determined to be 200 mg as a daily regimen.

Background:About 10%-20%of all individuals who develop hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)do not have *** are rarely reported regarding the effectiveness of radiofrequency ablation(RFA)and liver resection(LR)in survival of HCC without cirrhosis and stratification by tumor size≤5 ***:We used the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER)database and identified 1505 patients with a solitary HCC tumor≤5 cm who underwent RFA or LR during *** were classified into non-cirrhosis and cirrhosis groups and each group was categorized into three subgroups,according to tumor size(≤30 mm,31-40 mm,41-50 mm).Results:In patients without cirrhosis,LR showed better 5-year HCC cancer-specific survival than RFA in all tumor size subgroups(≤30 mm:82.51%vs.56.42%;31-40 mm:71.31%vs.46.83%;41-50 mm:74.7%vs.37.5%;all P0.05).However,in those with tumor size 41-50 mm,LR showed significantly better 5-year HCC cancer-specific survival than RFA in both univariate(54.72%vs.23.06%;P<0.001)and multivariate analyses(HR=0.297;95%CI:0.136-0.648;P=0.002).Conclusions:RFA is an inferior treatment option to LR for patients without cirrhosis who have a solitary HCC tumor≤5 cm.

Association mapping has emerged as a new tool to elucidate complex quantitative trait loci in maize, but there are few reports about systematic association analysis for the specific SSR markers with agronomic traits of interest in China. We investigated the morphological and genetic diversity and population structure for 76 maize recombinant inbred lines, and then association analysis were further performed between 48 simple sequence repeat loci and 17 morphological traits, consisting of nine ear-related traits and eight other traits. The 48 SSR markers were screened out and further classified into two groups including a group of loci in regions harboring reported quantitative trait loci that affect ear shape and a group of markers distributing on the whole genome randomly. The result indicated that the population of recombinant inbred lines was structured, showing five subpopulations. Our association results revealed that there were 82, 59, and 40 significant associations detected by K-test, logistic regression, and both analysis, respectively. When the 17 traits were considered separately, the significant associations between Q-SSRs and E-traits were raised to 27.8%, whereas the other groups of combinations ranged between 2.3 and 6.3%. As the proportion of significant associations is higher among the Q-SSR subset of markers and the subset of traits related to ear shape than those for all of the other combinations, we conclude that this approach is valid for establishing true positive marker-trait relationships. Our results also demonstrated that association mapping could complement and enhance previous QTL information for marker-assisted selection.

Salvage therapy with lenalidomide containing regimen for relapsed/refractory Castleman disease： a report of three cases

Castleman disease （CD） is an uncommon non-clonal lymphoproliferative disorder with unknown etiology. No standard therapy is recommended for relapsed/refractory CD patients, thus requiring development of novel experimental approaches. Our cohort of three adult patients with multicentric CD （MCD） were treated with refractory to traditional chemotherapy lenalidomide-containing regimens （10-25 mg lenalidomide perorally administered on days 1-21 in 28-day cycle） as second- to fourth-line treatment. Partial remission was achieved in first plasma-cell CD patient, who relapsed seven months after autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and then failed to respond to four cycles of chemotherapy. Partial remission was obtained in second patient with CD and polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, monoclonal gammopathy, and skin changes syndrome. Third case showed complete remission with complete disappearance of pleural effusion and ascites and normalization of platelet count. To conclude, encouraging clinical responses were achieved in cohort of three patients with lenalidomide-based regimen, though long-term efficacy remains to be observed. We propose further investigation of therapeutic potential of this drug in treating MCD.

Grass Litter Decomposition Rate and Water-Holding Capacity in Dry-Hot Valley of jinshajiang River

The decomposition rate and the water-holding capacity of 6 kinds of grass litters were studied in the jinshajiang river dry-hot valley. The results showed that the dry weight remains reduced with time but did not have a direct correlation with time. The decomposition litters were affected by climate, character of litter, animalcule and soil animal. The climate factors of temperature and humidity were important especially. The water-holding capacity was in the sequence ofN. wightii （336%）, P. notatum Flugge （248%）, H. contortus （L.） Beauv （209%）, B. pertusa （L.） A. Camus（206%）, L endecaphylla Jacq （174%）, D. annulatum （Forsk.） Stapf （168%）. After 24 months decomposition the remaining dry weight of the litter was in the sequence as follows： 15.12% for N. wightii, 26.38% for I. endecaphylla Jacq, 27.23% for B. pertusa （L.） A. Camus, 30.78% for P. notatum Flugge, 39.72% for H. contortus （L.） Beauv and 39.76% for D. annulatum （Forsk.） Stapf. The decomposition rate and water-holding capacity ofN. wightii are at the highest level. It is important for the development, improvement and conservation of the grassland soil.

The concept of finitely continuous topological space is introduced and the basic properties of the space are given. Several continuous selection theorems and fixed point theorems for Ф-maps are established, and as applications of the above fixed point theorems, some section problems are discussed. The results generalize and improve many corresponding conclusions.
