System dynamics (SD) theory has long been deployed in modeling complex non-linear interrelationships but, so far it has not been common to do the kind of modeling in support of bringing environmental sustainability policies to practice. This is largely because the challenge of including spatial data has not yet been well met. Potential for adoption of SD and GIS methods in combination is exemplified with the results of a decision-support exercise designed for simulation and prediction of the dynamic inter-relationships between socio-economic development and environmental quality for the "wen, Pi, Du" county in Sichuan province, southwestern China.

Epilepsy is a common neurological disease and severely affects the daily life of *** automatic detection and diagnosis system of epilepsy based on electroencephalogram(EEG)is of great significance to help patients with epilepsy return to normal *** the development of deep learning technology and the increase in the amount of EEG data,the performance of deep learning based automatic detection algorithm for epilepsy EEG has gradually surpassed the traditional hand-crafted ***,the neural architecture design for epilepsy EEG analysis is time-consuming and laborious,and the designed structure is difficult to adapt to the changing EEG collection environment,which limits the application of the epilepsy EEG automatic detection *** this paper,we explore the possibility of Automated Machine Learning(AutoML)playing a role in the task of epilepsy EEG *** apply the neural architecture search(NAS)algorithm in the Autokeras platform to design the model for epilepsy EEG analysis and utilize feature interpretability methods to ensure the reliability of the searched *** experimental results show that the model obtained through NAS outperforms the baseline model in *** searched model improves classification accuracy,F1-score and Cohen’s kappa coefficient by 7.68%,7.82%and 9.60%respectively than the baseline ***,NASbased model is capable of extracting EEG features related to seizures for classification.

Background:Mercury(Hg) and methylmercury are widely considered significant issues for wildlife,and in particular,piscivorous birds due to their widespread availability and neurotoxic *** a substantial number of studies of Hg contamination of Bald Eagles(Haliaeetus leucocephalus) have been conducted throughout the east coast of the United States,little has been done that directly addresses Hg contamination in Bald Eagles in Virginia,particularly the inland ***:we collected blood and feather samples from nestling Bald Eagles in the coastal plain,piedmont,and western regions of Virginia in an effort to determine which areas of the state were more likely to contain populations showing evidence of Hg *** analyzed the samples for total Hg using a Milestone ***:Samples collected from individuals located in the coastal region exhibited low concentrations of Hg compared to those further inland located on freshwater rivers and *** collected from the inland population exhibited levels in some areas that are approaching what may be considered to be sub-lethal to avian health(blood:mean 0.324 mg/kg,SE = 0.13,range = 0.06-0.97 mg/kg;feather:mean = 8.433 mg/kg,SE = 0.3,range = 3.811-21.14 mg/kg).Conclusions:Even after accounting for known point-sources of Hg,the inland eagle population in Virginia is susceptible to concentrations of Hg that are significantly higher than their coastal ***,several locations besides those currently known to be impacted by point-sources are exhibiting concentrations that are approaching a sub-lethal level.

As a common and high-risk type of disease,heart disease seriously threatens people’s *** the same time,in the era of the Internet of Thing(IoT),smart medical device has strong practical significance for medical workers and patients because of its ability to assist in the diagnosis of ***,the research of real-time diagnosis and classification algorithms for arrhythmia can help to improve the diagnostic efficiency of *** this paper,we design an automatic arrhythmia classification algorithm model based on Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)and Encoder-Decoder *** model uses Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)to consider the influence of time series features on classification ***,it is trained and tested by the MIT-BIH arrhythmia ***,Generative Adversarial Networks(GAN)is adopted as a method of data equalization for solving data imbalance *** simulation results show that for the inter-patient arrhythmia classification,the hybrid model combining CNN and Encoder-Decoder model has the best classification accuracy,of which the accuracy can reach 94.05%.Especially,it has a better advantage for the classification effect of supraventricular ectopic beats(class S)and fusion beats(class F).

Background: Identification of elevated intracranial pressure is important following traumatic brain injury. we assessed the feasibility of educating military trainees on accurately obtaining optic nerve sheath diameter measurements using a brief didactic and hands-on training session. Optic nerve sheath diameter is a noninvasive surrogate marker for elevated intracranial pressure, and may be of value in remote military operations, where rapid triage decisions must be made without access to advanced medical ***: Military trainees with minimal ultrasound experience were given a 5-min didactic presentation on optic nerve sheath diameter ultrasound. Trainees practiced optic nerve sheath diameter measurements guided by emergency physician ultrasound experts. Trainees then measured the optic nerve sheath diameter on normal volunteers. Following this, a trained physician measured the optic nerve sheath diameter on the same volunteer as a criterion standard. An average of three measurements was ***: Twenty-three military trainees were enrolled. A mixed design ANOVA was used to compare measurements by trainees to those of physicians, with a mean difference of –0.6 mm(P=0.76). A Bland-Altman analysis showed that the degree of bias in optic nerve sheath diameter measures provided by trainees was very small: d=–0.004 for the right eye and d=–0.007 for the left ***: This study demonstrates that optic nerve sheath diameter measurement can be accurately performed by novice ultrasonographers after a brief training session. If validated, point-of-care optic nerve sheath diameter measurement could impact the triage of injured patients in remote areas.

Minimizing soil ammonia（NH_3） and nitrous oxide（N_2O） emission factors（EFs） has significant implications in regional air quality and greenhouse gas（GHG） emissions besides nitrogen（N） nutrient *** aim of this study was to investigate the impacts of different N fertilizer treatments of conventional urea,polymer-coated urea,ammonia sulfate,urease inhibitor（NBPT,N-（n-butyl） thiophosphoric triamide）-treated urea,and nitrification inhibitor（DCD,dicyandiamide）-treated urea on emissions of NH_3 and GHGs from subtropical wheat cultivation.A field study was established in a Cancienne silt loam *** growth season,NH_3 emission following N fertilization was characterized using active chamber method whereas GHG emissions of N_2O,carbon dioxide（CO_2）,and methane（CH_4） were by passive chamber *** results showed that coated urea exhibited the largest reduction（49%） in the EF of NH_3-N followed by NBPT-treated urea（39%） and DCD-treated urea（24%） over conventional urea,whereas DCD-treated urea had the greatest suppression on N_2O-N（87%） followed by coated urea（76%） and NBPT-treated urea（69%）.Split fertilization of ammonium sulfate-urea significantly lowered both NH_3-N and N_2O-N EF values but split urea treatment had no impact over one-time application of *** NBPT and DCD-treated urea treatments lowered CO_2-C flux but had no effect on CH_4-C ***,application of coated urea or urea with NPBT or DCD could be used as a mitigation strategy for reducing NH_3 and N_2O emissions in subtropical wheat production in Southern USA.

Heat transfer in a tapered fluidized bed of biomass particles with pulsed gas flow

Bed-to-surface heat transfer of pure biomass particles in a pulsed fluidized bed with a tapered bottom section was investigated. Three biomass species — Douglas fir, pine, and switchgrass — were studied under various operating conditions. Their heat transfer coefficients were found to be closely associated with hydrodynamics dominated by gas pulsations. A higher superficial gas velocity generally yielded better gas–solid contact and higher heat transfer rates. A moderately increasing pulsation frequency promoted convective heat transfer of particles but also reduced pulsation intensity, leading to undesired flow behaviours such as channelling and partial defluidization. The study of the pulsation duty cycle revealed that, for cohesive particles, a smaller duty cycle was preferred to generate powerful pulsations to break up inter-particle forces. Moreover, a duty cycle increase allowed higher gas throughput as long as a suitable fluidization was maintained. The addition of finer particles to a coarse fraction increased particle mobility, and subsequently heat transfer, which also explained the higher heat transfer coefficients of switchgrass as it contained more fines compared with fir and pine. Experimental results in the tapered bed were also compared with those of non-tapered geometry where a 10%–20% increase in heat transfer was observed.

Background:Understanding geographic distributions of species is a crucial step in spatial planning for biodiversity conservation, particularly as regards changes in response to global climate *** information is especially important for species of global conservation concern that are susceptible to the effects of habitat loss and climate change. In this study, we used ecological niche modeling to assess the current and future geographic distributional potential of *** Guineafowl (Agelastes meleagrides)(Vulnerable) across west Africa. Methods:we used primary occurrence data obtained from the Global Biodiversity Information Facility and national parks in Liberia and Sierra Leone, and two independent environmental datasets (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer normalized difference vegetation index at 250 m spatial resolution, and worldclim climate data at 2.5' spatial resolution for two representative concentration pathway emissions scenarios and 27 general circulation models for 2050) to build ecological niche models in Maxent. Results: From the projections, *** Guineafowl showed a broader potential distribution across the region compared to the current IUCN range estimate for the species. Suitable areas were concentrated in the Gola rainforests in northwestern Liberia and southeastern Sierra Leone, the *** corridor in southeastern Liberia and southwestern Cote d'lvoire, and the Nimba Mountains in northern Liberia, southeastern Guinea, and northwestern Cote d'*** *** projections anticipated minimal range shifts in response to climate change. Conclusions: By combining remotely sensed data and climatic data, our results suggest that forest cover, rather than climate is the major driver of the species' current distribution. Thus, conservation efforts should prioritize forest protection and mitigation of other anthropogenic threats (*** pressure) affecting the species.
