Neurodegenerative diseases,including Alzheimer’s disease,Parkinson’s disease,Huntington’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,are a group of incurable neurological disorders,characterized by the chronic progressive loss of different neuronal subtypes.However,despite its increasing prevalence among the everincreasing aging population,little progress has been made in the coincident immense efforts towards development of therapeutic agents.Research interest has recently turned towards stem cells including stem cells-derived exosomes,neurotrophic factors,and their combination as potential therapeutic agents in neurodegenerative diseases.In this review,we summarize the progress in therapeutic strategies based on stem cells combined with neurotrophic factors and mesenchymal stem cells-derived exosomes for neurodegenerative diseases,with an emphasis on the combination therapy.

Male diabetic individuals present a marked impairment in fertility;however,knowledge regarding the pathogenic mechanisms and therapeutic strategies is unsatisfactory.The new hypoglycemic drug dapagliflozin has shown certain benefits,such as decreasing the risk of cardiovascular and renal events in patients with diabetes.Even so,until now,the effects and underlying mechanisms of dapagliflozin on diabetic male infertility have awaited clarification.Here,we found that dapagliflozin lowered blood glucose levels,alleviated seminiferous tubule destruction,and increased sperm concentrations and motility in leptin receptor-deficient diabetic db/db mice.Moreover,the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor(GLP-1R)antagonist exendin(9-39)had no effect on glucose levels but reversed the protective effects of dapagliflozin on testicular structure and sperm quality in db/db mice.We also found that dapagliflozin inhibited the testicular apoptotic process by upregulating the expression of the antiapoptotic protein B-cell lymphoma 2(BCL2)and X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein(XIAP)and inhibiting oxidative stress by enhancing the antioxidant status,including total antioxidant capacity,total superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity,and glutathione peroxidase(GPx)activity,as well as decreasing the level of 4-hydroxynonenal(4-HNE).Exendin(9-39)administration partially reversed these effects.Furthermore,dapagliflozin upregulated the glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1)level in plasma and GLP-1R expression by promoting AKT8 virus oncogene cellular homolog(Akt)phosphorylation in testicular tissue.Exendin(9-39)partially inhibited Akt phosphorylation.These results suggest that dapagliflozin protects against diabetes-induced spermatogenic dysfunction via activation of the GLP-1R/phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)/Akt signaling pathway.Our results indicate the potential effects of dapagliflozin against diabetes-induced spermatogenic dysfunction.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs)-based composites have been widely applied as photocatalysts because of their synergistic effect between the two individual component.Herein,TiO_(2)@NH_(2)-MIL-125(Ti) nanocomposites which possess unsaturated titanium–oxo clusters,mesoporous structure,and intimate interface were successfully constructed via an in-situ distilled water-etched route.The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements indicated strong electronic interaction between TiO_(2)and NH_(2)-MIL-125(Ti),confirming the formation of TiO 2@NH_(2)-MIL-125(Ti) nanocomposite.Photoelectrochemical and thermodynamics measurements showed that TiO_(2)@NH_(2)-MIL-125(Ti)nanocomposites have improved charge separation efficient and decreased transfer resistance of the carriers within the heterojunction interfaces,which facilitates the photoexcited electrons transfer and reduction of the Cr(VI) species.Therefore,the optimal TiO_(2)@NH_(2)-MIL-125(Ti)nanocomposite demonstrated superior performance compared to NH_(2)-MIL-125(Ti) and NH_(2)-MIL-125(Ti) derived TiO_(2).Based on the free radical trapping experiment and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements,a possible type-II scheme was proposed for the enhanced photocatalytic activity over the TiO_(2)@NH_(2)-MIL-125(Ti) nanocomposite.

Compared to the traditional aircraft,electrification of power system in aircraft has potential to revolutionise the aviation industry.Typically,more-electric aircraft(MEA),even all-electric aircraft has been developed and delivered to decrease the greenhouse gas emission and increase the energy efficiency.The next generation of MEA will operate at high voltage to facilitate the transfer of significant levels of electrical power in an electrified aircraft.However,the higher voltage inevitably leads to an increased risk to the insulation of the electrical components and power system.This study aims to provide a critical overview of the insulation challenges from the perspective of electrified aircraft,typically MEA application.The development of MEA and the special working conditions are explained at the beginning.Then the insulation challenges of power modules,electric machines,aeronautical cables etc.are discussed in detail.Finally,the existing technical barriers and future prospects of insulation for electrified aircraft are summarised.It provides a reference for the future design and test in power system of next generation MEA and related electrified air transportations.

Superconducting linear accelerators(SCL)have a high acceleration gradient and are capable of operating in a high-duty factor mode.For high-power and high-intensity SCL,the design of beam dynamics generally follows the principle that the zero-current periodic phase advance(σ0)of each degree of freedom is less than 90°to avoid envelope instability caused by space charge.However,this principle is obtained under the condition of a completely periodic focusing channel,and it is ambiguous for pseudoperiodic structures,such as linear accelerators.Although transverse beam dynamics without acceleration have been studied by other researchers,it appears that there are some connections between pure 2D and 3D beam dynamics.Based on these two points,five focusing schemes for the solenoid and quadrupole doublet channels were designed to simulate the beam behavior with non-constantσ0.Among them,the four schemes follow the characteristics of variation in the zero-current longitudinal phase advance(σ0l)under a constant acceleration gradient and synchronous phase.The zero-current transverse phase advance(σ0t)is consistent withσ0l,based on the equipartition requirement.The initialσ0twas set to 120°,110°,100°,and 90°,and was then gradually decreased to approximately 40°at the end of the channel.The last scheme maintains the maximumσ0tof88°by reducing the acceleration gradient of the corresponding cavities,until the point at whichσ0tequals88°with a normal gradient.Using the stopbands obtained from the linearized envelope equations and multiparticle particle-in-cell(PIC)simulations,the transport properties of both continuous and 3D-bunched beams with the acceleration of the five focusing schemes were studied.It was found that for a CW beam,when tune depression>0.7,σ0tcan break through 90°when the beams were transported in both solenoid and quadrupole doublet periodic focusing channels.When tune depression<0.7,the conclusions were different.For the solenoid focusing system,σ0tcan partially break through 90°,and the beam quality is not s

Background： Most studies on enhanced recovery after surgery （ERAS） for gastric cancer exclude patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Here, we aimed to evaluate whether patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy can be enrolled into the ERAS program for locally advanced gastric cancer. Methods： From April 2015 to July 2017, 114 patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy for locally advanced gastric cancer were randomized into ERAS and standard care （SC） groups. Postoperative length of stay, complications, bowel function, and nutritional status were recorded. Results： The postoperative length of stay of the ERAS group was shorter compared with that of the SC group （5.9 ± 5.6 vs. 8.1 ± 5.3 days, P=0.037）.The postoperative complication rate was 9.3% in the ERAS group and 11.5% in the SC group（P=0.700）.The time to first flatus （2.7 ± 2.0 vs. 4.5 ± 4.6 days, P = 0.010） and time to a semi-liquid diet （3.2 ± 2.1 vs. 6.3 ± 4.9 days, P 〈 0.001） in the ERAS group were shorter compared with those in the SC group. On the 10thday after surgery, the values of weight, total protein, albumin, and prealbumin of the ERAS group were lower compared with those of the SC group. Conclusions： Patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy could be enrolled into ERAS programs for locally advanced gastric cancer. The nutritional status of these patients was not adversely affected.

Objective Long-term seroprotection via the hepatitis A vaccine is essential for the prevention of disease from the hepatitis A virus(HAV).Due to documented difficulties during decade-long follow-ups after receiving vaccines,statistical-modeling approaches have been applied to predict the duration of immune protection.Methods Based on five-year follow-up data from a randomized positive-controlled trial among Chinese children(1–8 years old)following a 0,6 months vaccination schedule,a power-law model accounting for the kinetics of B-cell turnover,as well as a modified power-law model considering a memory-B-cell subpopulation,were fitted to predict the long-term immune responses induced by HAV vaccination(Healive or Havrix).Anti-HAV levels of each individual and seroconversion rates up to 30 years after vaccination were predicted.Results A total of 375 participants who completed the two-dose vaccination were included in the analysis.Both models predicted that,over a life-long period,participants vaccinated with Healive would have close but slightly higher antibody titers than those of participants vaccinated with Havrix.Additionally,consistent with previous studies,more than 90%of participants were predicted to maintain seroconversion for at least 30 years.Moreover,the modified power-law model predicted that the antibody titers would reach a plateau level after nearly 15 years post-vaccination.Conclusions Based on the results of our modeling,Healive may adequately induce long-term immune responses following a 0,6 months vaccination schedule in children via induction of memory B cells to provide stable and durable immune protection.

Untargeted metabolomics aims to comprehensively profile metabolites as many as possible in biological samples.Recently,ion mobility-mass spectrometry(IM-MS)has emerged as a powerful technology for untargeted metabolomics.The emerging role of IM-MS in untargeted metabolomics enables the separation of metabolite isomers and generation of multidimension data to support the identification of metabolites.In this review,we first introduced the basic principles of IM-MS instruments commonly used for untargeted metabolomics.Then,we demonstrated the application of IM-MS for metabolite separation and identification of both known and unknown metabolites.Finally,we discussed the future developments of IM-MS technology to improve untargeted metabolomics.

Information leak,which can undermine the compliance of web-service-composition business processes for some policies,is one of the major concerns in web service composition.We present an automated and effective approach for the detection of implicit information leaks in business process execution language(BPEL)based on information flow analysis.We introduce an adequate meta-model for BPEL representation based on a Petri net for transformation and analysis.Building on the concept of Petri net place-based noninterference,the core contribution of this paper is the application of a Petri net reachability graph to estimate Petri net interference and thereby to detect implicit information leaks in web service composition.In addition,a case study illustrates the application of the approach on a concrete workflow in BPEL notation.
